Welcome to playoffs for Doubles Classic III! This tournament is functionally identical to The Smogon Classic; the preliminary stage consisted of three single elimination cups, one for each of the three past generations of Doubles OU. Players earned points from these cups using the Smogon Grand Slam point structure, which can be found here. The top 16 players after the conclusion of all 3 cups qualified for playoffs, which is a single-elimination bracket consisting of best-of-three multi-gen sets. When all is said and done, the top 32 players overall will earn Circuit Points according to the payout listed here.

Before we move on to playoffs, I wanted to say a massive thank you to DaWoblefet, Paraplegic, and Arcticblast for hosting BW Cup, XY Cup, and SM Cup, respectively. Thanks also to Arcticblast, Crunchman, and dnagerbdager for running the usage thread for the tournament! Their work in both running their individual cups and helping out with administrating the tournament overall was invaluable!

All sets in playoffs will function as follows:
  1. All sets will be best-of-three multigen sets.
  2. The player with the higher seed will choose which past generation is played first. They can choose any of SM, XY, or BW.
  3. The player who loses game 1 will choose the generation played for game 2.
  4. If necessary, game 3 will be played using the previously unused generation.
Speaking of seeds, we had some ties after the end of the our 3 preliminary cups. Thankfully there were no ties for playoff spots, so no tiebreaker sets are required. If two or more players are tied in points, these are the three tiebreaks used to seed them, in order:
  1. Best finish in an individual cup
  2. Win percentage across all cups (sets)
  3. Coinflip (done publicly using PS's !pick command)
Coinflips were required for the following ties: Memoric / Yuichi (1st / 2nd), Akaru Kokuyo / txitxas (11th / 12th), and Shadowmonstr7 / Toxigen (13th / 14th). The full results after the end of the preliminary stage can be found here, including tiebreaks for each participant.

Requesting extensión for Monday/Tuesday. Our plan was to play yesterday but he had to leave earlier than anticipated (and will be back till Monday) and I was unable to play earlier on week
