DPP OU Metagame Analysis Feb 09

Ok, thanks AR. That was pretty much c&ped from another poster, I should have checked it through a bit better. But still, I feel as if Heracross is oh so much rarer than it used to be. If it makes such a great counter for Rotom formes (something that is in pretty high demand) and its own no 1 counter is so rarely seen, then does anyone have an explanation for why it is so uncommon?

I'm pretty sure Heracross isn't "one of the best imaginable" counters. It probably won't OHKO with Night Slash unless it is burned and has a Choice Band (most have Choice Scarf), and it doesn't like being paralyzed and definately not Overheat. Plus, although it 'counters' Rotom, it won't enjoy being locked into an un-Stabbed Night Slash which a majority of Steel-types resist, not to mention Lucario.

And this is why Heracross isn't seen very much. Lucario outclasses it in the sweeper department, and teams don't need another Fire weakness added onto their steels. Bullet Punch is probably the main reason, and also Naive ScarfTran, who outspeeds adamant Heracross.

True, but Rotom has to predict the Hera switchin (and Overheat is the very last move Rotom will use without knowing the opposing team) and if it doesn't it goes down.

Discharge can be annoying, but sacrificing Hera to kill Rotom isn't a bad deal, and Heracross can still get another hit in - a Guts CBed hit hurts any switchin badly, unless they're immune or 4x resistant.

I will agree that it is a good/decent check to Rotom, but it is not a counter since it fears overheat or random paralysis from Discharge.

Then the problem is, what counters the Rotom forms then? Betting that most physical sweepers hate burns, I'm thinking that the counters for Rotom forms would be bulky special walls like Registeel (also Heatran)

some pokemon deserved to be watched out cause they have serene grace+high flinch attacks that sometimes are completly abused, it's quite common to see a pokemon unable to act and be killed by Togehax or Jirhax.....

Latais must be watched too, cause it's sometimes so loud to break that the opponet can't come back in the game

The problem isn't the pokemon by themselves ,but the players, togekiss, jirachi and latias have all a great defensive movepool, but there are so manu players abusing them by using them as offense, and it's quite anti-game sometiems when you lose to noobs that to balance their level abuse cheap tech like togehax, and jirhax, as long as i'm french, i understand why in this country some stuffs are banned. Togekiss isn't banned, but the serene grace+air slash is. That's the good way, cause it allows to use these pokemon as support/defense/regular offense but not hax.

The new Rotom are nice, and originals. And they're not broken....

Scizor needed a powerful move like bullet punch to being what it deserved to be, however it doesn't make it broken.

Shaymin-S is broken, serene-grace +air slash on a such offensive pokemon is just a shame.

I think mention should be given to Gliscor. He can serve a multitude of purposes. Gliscor can serve as good baton passer with moves like Swords Dance and Rock Polish. Gliscor also serves as a good defensive pokemon with moves like Roost, Earthquake and Stone Edge. It can set up Stealth Rock as an entry hazard on top of its other moves to give it two purposes and not take up valuable places in the team. Sand Veil makes it excellent in a sandstorm team and hypercutter is useful if using him for baton passing.
Also, I know with Salamence Dragonite seems inferior, but with outrage, superpower (which is a good advantage over Salamence), earthquake and fire punch it makes a great receiver of baton pass teams. Dragonite is also good for support, using light screen , reflect, heal bell, roost, thunder wave, toxic and powerful moves in case of taunt.
I know Dragonite is seen as a weak option when compared with Salamence but I think Gliscor should definitely be given mention.
