Can someone explain the joke to me? I forgot what happened with the planet exploding. I am going out on a limb and saying that they somehow made the 5 minutes last almost an entire episode, but I could be wrong.

The joke is that they made five minutes last for ten episodes.


So then, this is just the same thing with all the fluff cut out? I got all excited about seeing a fully reanimated series after watching the intro. It would be amazing if they just redid the Raditz->Freeza saga with that animation.

No, it's not being reanimated. Some parts are apparently being touched up and/or have added special effects, but for the most part they're using old footage.
