Drapion

[Overview]

The grape soda coloured scorpion is back
,[Add Comma] ready for in another generation of wre
acking havoc and causing mischief in lower tiers
!.[Remove Exclamation Mark / Add Period] With Drapion has a respectable
base 90 Attack
stat,[Add Comma] of 90 and supported by a solid base 95 Speed
stat, giving it great offensive capabilities. of 95, Drapion isn't bad defensively either; it has an interesting defensive spread of of 70 / 110 / 75, backed up by an excellent defensive typing
giving that gives it it many useful resistances and one
lone weakness
,.[Remove Comma / Add Period] Drapion is a force to be reckoned with. Despite
that all of this,
it Drapion still has its faults, such as its lack of
reliable recovery and
the fact that majority of its stats are its decidedly average
stats. None
<Remove Space>the
<Remove Space>less, Drapion has a great niche in RU as a handy
supporter supplier of Toxic Spikes and
as a sweeper
backed up by with bulky defences.

[SET]
name: All-Out Attacker
move 1: Crunch / Night Slash
move 2: Pursuit
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Ice Fang / Aqua Tail
item: Choice Band / Life Orb
ability: Sniper
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set follows A a simple concept
,:[Remove Comma / Add Colon] hit hard and fast thus max out Attack and Speed
to hit hard and fast.
As for the item, The
item of choice is either Choice Band or Life Orb
;[Add Semicolon] both aid in hitting hard allow Drapion to hit much harder, whilst each
with has their its own drawbacks
.[Add Period] thus As such,[Add Comma] you should consider your team when choosing your item. Those
who opt to use with Choice Band appreciate Rapid Spin support
,[Add Comma] as they will often be switching in and out. Conversely, while those
with who choose Life Orb
will appreciate Wish support
,[Add Comma] as their health will be quickly drained [Just some quick reasons included.].
As always, Crunch is an obvious STAB
move, and has good coverage with Earthquake
.[Add Period] for coverage and Aqua Tail
is for bulky Ground-types
,[Add Comma] who would otherwise give Drapion huge trouble.
Thanks to Drapion's typing, Pursuit can aid with the odd switches and can dent giant holes into choice item users. [I really don't understand what you're saying here.. I'm going to try and rephrase it.] Drapion's presence can tend to cause switches, so Pursuit can be handy for mauling any opponent who tries to escape. With hitting hard and fast in mind As Drapion is trying to destroy his opponents as fast as possible, entry hazard support is always appreciated.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Drapion has a lot to distinguish it from other Pursuit users
.[Add Period] such as its It has a neutrality to Fighting-type attacks,
aiding in its defensive capabilities. Its decent speed allows it to fire off strong attacks before it receives a status problem
,[Add Comma] such as (burn
in particular), and Finally, a large movepool with good coverage
which makes allows Drapion
to be a a solid team player beyond Pursuit. If one of your teammates has Hi Jump Kick, consider Drapion even more
,[Add Comma] as it catch Ghost-types on the switch for
loads of huge damage
.[Add Period] and On top of that, Hi Jump Kick users adore the holes
All-Out-Attacker this Drapion can
put punch into teams. It is worth noting that
although Night Slash has slightly less power than Crunch
,[Add Comma] however, its high critical hit ratio in combination with the Sniper ability make
s it an interesting choice. Ice Fang works better than Aqua Tail
,[Add Comma] as it is able to hit on the occasional
Grass-types and the odd Ground-types Grass-, Ground-, and Flying-types
that give Drapion trouble [Do they?] making it a more viable choice. As for teammates, Gligar
is helpful stands out,
resisting as it is immune to Ground
-type attacks while being able to set up Stealth Rock
,.[Remove Comma / Add Period] and Gligar is even
being able to force switches
,[Add Comma] thanks to with its
unique typing and Taunt.

[SET]
name: Bulky Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Crunch / Night Slash
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Earthquake
item: Leftovers
ability: Battle Armour / Sniper
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

With nice
defences defenses and decent Speed, Drapion
is can make for a good bulky Swords Dance user. The EV spread is simple
,;[Remove Comma / Add Semicolon] maximize HP while holding Leftovers
to for a little bit of heal
ing, give it enough Speed to outpace a good handful of foes, then dump the rest of the EVs into its Special Defence
for added bulk. As usual, Crunch
for is the obligatory STAB move
,[Add Comma] and used alongside Earthquake for coverage. Again, Night Slash
can be used to get a Critical Hit more frequently and can be used in conjunction with Sniper
if you plan to be a bit for a more offensive
approach. However, since this is a defensive set, it is best to use Battle Armour and Crunch
,[Add Comma] since Drapion can
already bust through
defences its opponents defenses thanks to by boosting with Swords Dance. Again, entry hazard support is appreciated to aid Drapion's sweep.
Drapion can abuse its Speed through the use of Taunt, allowing it to come in on common tanks and shut them down while grabbing a free boost. [I moved this from AC because it's the third move on the actual set, and isn't slashed with anything.]

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Luckily, Drapion can abuse its Speed and use Taunt allowing it to come in on common tanks and shut them down in order to grab a free boost. Ice Fang could be used over Taunt
,[Add Comma] giving Drapion perfect coverage
.[Add Comma] Ice Fang also allows Drapion to hit opponents 4x weak to Ice-type attacks incredibly hard. and it is excellent at catching those with double weaknesses to Ice, However
,[Add Comma] Dark
-[Add Hyphen]type moves already provide enough coverage alongside Earthquake
,[Add Comma] already along with its and Ice Fang's low base power make
s it an unappealing option.
Drapion can also run a mono-attacking with a Rest Sleep Talk strategy but it is not recommended due to not boasting enough defences, and the reliance on luck, however, if you do choose to use it, the Battle Armour ability is recommended. [Shouldn't this really be in OO? It's a completely different prospect.] Despite its bulk, Drapion will still take a beating
from strong opponents, and does not like being burned. A teammate like Clefable is an excellent choice,
as it is able to
take absorb burns due to Magic Guard,
heal its partners with Wish, heal its partners' status problems with whilst keeping its team healthy with Wish and Heal Bell
,.[Remove Comma / Add Period] and Clefable can also paralyze the foe with Thunder Wave
,[Add Comma] making Drapion's job of setting up and sweeping much easier.

[SET]
name: Swords Dance Sweeper
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Crunch / Night Slash
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Ice Fang / Aqua Tail
item: Life Orb
ability: Sniper
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

The Swords Dance Sweeper
set functions
more or less the same as the Bulky Swords Dance set
,[Add Comma] but
has adopts the hit hard and fast
motto approach of the All-Out-Attacker set.
With that in mind, max out Attack and Speed, and hold the Life Orb to rack up even more damage while Sniper is the preferred ability offensively. Life Orb, along with maximized Attack and Speed EVs, give Drapion as much raw offensive power as possible. Though it
might may seem outclassed, what differentiates Drapion from other Swords Dance sweepers are its
defences good defenses, which allow it to take a hit
,[Remove Comma] snag a boost, and hit back hard while boosting its stats. Again, Crunch or Night Slash
are used for STAB,
along with Earthquake for coverage
,.[Remove Comma / Add Period] along with a second coverage move. Again The last move is preference; Ice Fang sports excellent
type synchronization with Earthquake
,[Add Comma] and is excellent at catching those with double weaknesses to Ice but Aqua Tail his Ground-types who lack a double weaknesses harder whilst Aqua Tail destroys bulky Ground-types.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Unlike the All-Out-Attacker set,
the Swords Dance Sweeper set is
used designed to set up on walls that are not much of a
bother threat to Drapion
,[Add Comma] (such as Tangrowth
.[Add Period])and then proceed with continuous strong attacks. Like the All-Out Attacker As with all of Drapion's sets, entry hazard support is helpful.
For best results, cause a switch that makes the opponent think that it is a defensive Drapion set such as coming in on a physical sweeper that usually lacks Earthquake. [I don't really think these mind games deserve a mention..] Omastar
's Grass weakness helps with this and its ability is able to set up entry hazards
,[Add Comma] which will aid in helping Drapion clobber more foes, though its Ground weakness it shares with Drapion hinders it a bit. With Earthquake in mind, the Air Balloon can help in this situation
,[Add Comma] but Drapion
usually prefers the extra power the Life Orb provides.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive
move 1: Crunch
move 2: Whirlwind
move 3: Toxic Spikes
move 4: Taunt
item: Leftovers
ability: Battle Armour
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Unlike the offensive nature of the other sets, this set
is great a excels at supporting
its the team
,.[Remove Comma / Add Period] This set will take more than a few hits as it does its job, thus so it is best to
even out defences get as close to even defenses as possible by maxing out HP and Special Defence. As for moves, Crunch is
a the usual solid STAB move
as usual. Drapion can set up Toxic Spikes
,[Add Comma] which can be used in conjunction with and use Whirlwind
forces switches which is very handy with entry hazard support to rack up loads of
residual damage.
That said As such, a Ghost-type teammate
is handy can be enormously helpful, to prevent
ing the foe from using Rapid Spin. Taunt is used in the last slot
,[Add Comma] as it
is handy and can shut down the many tanks
[Do you mean walls?] that counter Drapion.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Knock Off can be
handy a good support option, crippling many foes by making them lose their item
.[Add Period] However, but it is
usually better to rack up damage from entry hazards by forcing switches with Taunt
or Whirlwind.
Using Rest
alone by itself can
come in handy occasionally be handy the odd time, especially with a Heal Bell or Aromatherapy user on your team. With Rest in mind, Drapion can be a Rest Sleep Talk shuffler with Whirlwind
,[Add Comma] but
it this is can be risky
,[Add Comma] and
Drapion is usually better off sticking best to stick to Wish support.
Again, Clefable fits this role well, able to cure Drapion of status and keep it healthy with Wish. Earthquake might provide coverage
,[Add Comma] but it
is not as handy in this situation does not do as much for Drapion on this set.
That said, it is best have Wish support and a Flying or Grass type too. Again, Clefable fits this role well while Archeops can make a good teammate, as it resists Ground moves and can use the Toxic Spikes provided by Drapion support to its advantage.

[Other Options]

Since Crunch and Earthquake have great neutral coverage together, using one of Drapion's
other Poison-type STAB moves,
such as Poison Jab or Cross Poison
(which works well with Sniper), is not a bad idea
.[Add Period] and on top of that, they do not work half bad alongside Crunch and Earthquake especially against Drapion's Poison-type STAB attacks can also benefit its coverage, shredding thorugh those pesky Grass-types.
On topic of critical hits, there is the possibility of critical hit abuse however 25% to do triple the damage and pierce through your opponent's Defence boosts is not a risk you should take. [That makes absolutely no sense and hase been mention numerous times before.]

Acupressure can be used to
randomly boost
random stats
;[Add Semicolon] to increase Drapion's bulk and power but, however, like critical hit abuse as in the cases of Sleep Talk or Sniper,
you should not rely on luck in war unless you need to relying on luck can be very risky.
The Air Balloon removes Drapion's only weakness
;[Add Semicolon] however
,[Add Comma] it cannot cause ultimate destruction after a single boost
,[Add Comma] like Excadrill so it is best to stick with either Leftovers or Life Orb.

[Checks and Counters]

Like the majority of Pokemon, Drapion is easy to counter if you can get by its hefty blows. Bulky Ground-types with high Defence
work best make great counters, as they can absorb Drapion's attacks and their STAB Earthquake tears
open the ground hurling Drapion
into an abyss of damage apart. Quagsire's an excellent choice,
as it can bluff Water Absorb while Unaware blocks out stat boosts,
can take a hit from Drapion and heal them off with Recover, has access to and is able to destroy Drapion with its STAB Earthquake
,.[Remove Comma / Add Period] However
,[Add Comma] Quagsire is mauled by status conditions, so make sure it does not get poisoned
from by Toxic Spikes. With Toxic Spikes in mind, Steel-types with Earthquake work well against the defensive sets. Dugtrio is a great counter against the Special Defensive set
,[Add Comma] as it
has can trap Drapion with Arena Trap
, can hit Drapion hard with and decimate it with a STAB Earthquake
before it can fully set up Toxic Spikes. However, Dugtrio dislikes being poisoned,[Add Comma] though so send it out before Drapion sets up. It is worth noting that Dugtrio faints in one hit from the sweeping sets and the the Bulky Swords Dance set after it's gotten Drapion has snagged an Attack boost.

[Dream World]

Drapion gets Keen Eye from the Dream World
,[Add Comma] preventing drops in its Accuracy. Pass up on it as Accuracy reducing moves are barely seen.
