Dread Island (an RU RMT)[peaked #41]

Yeah, it is the place from Fire Emblem (GBA), but the name suits this team. Honchkrow is the reason for the name, being such a boss and all. Well, here comes the intro. This is my second attempt at an RU team (the first was when I didn't know anything about team building and threw stuff together), and has been doing pretty good: peaking at 1209 points. It has some stereotypical RU stuff, so don't expect anything that unique. Here goes!

At a glance:

After Hector has bravely cleared the Fog of War:

Aggron @ Air Balloon
Ability: Rock Head
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 68hp/252atk/188spd
-Stealth Rock
-Head Smash
-Automatize
-Low Kick

Aggron is here to "lead" my team to victory. His main goal is to provide Stealth Rock support for my team, which breaks sashes and makes KOs easier to achieve. He is useful for more than that however...

Automatize is a new toy Aggron recieved this generation, doubling it speed. In this case, I hit 366 speed after one boost, outspeeding just about everything in RU. After that, it's sweep time. Head Smash is a cool move: 225 power, and no recoil thanks to Rock Head. This lets Aggron simply beat its way through everything. The last slot is occupied by Low Kick, which gives me more coverage against stuff like Batiodon and Steelix. There you have it, my lead!

Synergy:
Ground: Yanmega, Honchkrow
Fighting: Yanmega
Water: Blastoise

Honchkrow @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252atk/4def/252spd
-Brave Bird
-Sucker Punch
-Roost
-Night Slash

Honchkrow is one of the most feared Pokemon in RU, and for a good reason too. Moxie is an excellent ability, and can cause sheer devestation when paired with Sucker Punch. Brave Bird is Honchkrow's other STAB, and is there to cause obscenely high amounts of damage when I feel like killing something. Roost heals Honchkrow and Night Slash is a more reliable Dark STAB that kills Cresselia. To conclude, Honchkrow truley is a great Pokemon, and an effective tool of destruction if used right.

Synergy:
Electric: Electivre
Ice: Aggron, Blastoise, Entei
Rock: Aggron

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Ability: Rain Dish
Nature: Bold
EVs: 216hp/188def/104Sdef
-Scald
-Roar
-Ice Beam
-Rapid Spin

I decided, that if I were to use Yanmega, I should use a spinner. Blastoise, the original turtle, was chosen for this esteemed position. His high defenses let him take hits while spinning, and roar PHazes set up sweepers.

He has some other toys as well. Scald is the STAB move of choice when using a bulky water, as a 30% burn rate is quite appealing to a wall. Ice Beam is his other way of attacking, and is used for coverage. That pretty much sums him up(:

Synergy:
Electric: Electivire
Grass: Yanmega, Honchkrow, Entei

Yanmega @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252Satk/4Sdef/252spd
-Protect
-Bug Buzz
-Giga Drain
-Air Slash

Yanmega is amazing. Speed Boost, high Special Attack, a good movepool... yes please. This thing is insane, being able to take out a lot of the walls in RU, and doing while looking cool(:

Protect is here simply to accumulate free boosts, and is quite effective. Bug Buzz is Yanmega's STAB, and is capable of doing insane amounts of damage, as well as hitting large targets like Cresselia and Sharpedo for super effective damage. Giga Drain is a coverage move, and is useful for healing off Life Orb damage. Air Slash serves as a secondary STAB and kills things like Sceptile and Hariyama.

Synergy:
Electric: Electivire
Ice: Blastoise, Aggron, Entei
Rock: Aggron
Fire: Entei, Blastoise

Electivire @ Life Orb
Ability: Motor Drive
Nature: Mild
EVs: 200atk/216Satk/92spd
-Cross Chop
-Thunderbolt
-Flamethrower
-Hidden Power [Grass]

Electivire is a formidable mixed attacker, being able to muscle his way through a good amount of walls, and support my team by absorbing Electric attacks. The EVs give him great mixed attacking stats and enough speed to outrun base 120s after a Motor Drive boost.

Cross Chop starts off the set, killing Clefable. Thunderbolt is my STAB, and hits Moltres, Sharpedo and friends for super effective damage. Flamethrower has nice coverage with Thunderbolt, and ensures Ferroseed won't be going anywhere. Hidden Power provides E-Vire with a way to kill Gastrodon, Quagsire, Seismitoad, Rhyperior and freinds.

Synergy:
Ground: Honchkrow, Yanmega

Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252atk/4def/252spd
-Flare Blitz
-Hidden Power [Grass]
-Extremespeed
-Stone Edge

Thanks to a late Gen IV event, Entei recieved two welcome adddtions to its movepool, namely Flare Blitz and Extremespeed. Both of these are used to a full extent on this Entei, who hopes to blitz through as much of a team as it can.

As one could guess, Flare Blitz is the almighty STAB, slaying most things it touches. Extremespeed gives my team another form of priority, and can pick off weakened targets. Hidden Power hits the stuff that walls Entei, and Stone Edge provides coverage.

Yanmega-Aggron can take it; Honchkrow nails it, Entei can E-Speed it.
Honchkrow-Extremespeed from Entei can take out weakened ones. Aggron kills it.
Sharpedo-Yanmega can go toe to toe with it; Extei can revenge it with E-Speed if it has been weakened.
Venomoth-Entie's Extremespeed can nail it a good one. Yanmega can also make it cry.
Porygon-Z-+2 Aggron revenges it; Entei, Electivire, and Honchkrow can probaly beat it.
Entei-Aggron beats it, as does Blastoise.
Rhyperior-Blastoise, Yanmega
Gallade-Yanmega, possibly Honchkrow
Alakazam-Honchkrow, Entei, boosted Yanmega/Aggron
Durant-Entei can possibly kill it. This thing is actuallly really good.
Moltres-Electivire, Aggron, possibly Honchkrow
Electivire-Honchkrow may be able to kill it with Sucker Punch. Entei beats it one-on-one, and +2 Aggron revenges it.
Galvantula-Entei beats it one on one, as doees Aggron. +2 Aggron revenges it.
Sceptile-+2Aggron revenges it. +1Yanmega does the same.
Krookodile-Yanmega, Blastoise
Manectric- +2Aggron and +1Yanmega revenge it, as does Honchkrow. Entei beats it one-on-one.
Lilligant-Entei may revenge it. Pretty challenging due to Quiver Dance.
Gorebyss- I really don't give a crap as to how many Shell Smash boosts it passes; it just makes Honchkrow and Entei's lives easier.
Primeape-Blastoise, Entei
Typhlosion-+2 Aggron
Omastar-The more smashes, the more damage from Sucker Punch and the easier the Moxie boost.
Rotom-C-+1Yanmega, +2Aggron, Entei
Scyther-Aggron, Entei, possibly Electivire
Medicham-Honchkrow, Blastoise can burn it

This looks to be a pretty decent team. Your team won't like taking hits from Guts Hariyama very much (apart from blastoise). My suggestion would be to run Air Slash on Yanmega for a few reasons: You get secondary stab, flinch chances, and you don't have to use reduced IVs. The only steels you'll see in RU (Ferroseed, Klingklang, rarely Steelix) are easily taken care of by the rest of your team. Yanmega can come in on Hariyama's CC and easily take it out with Air Slash.

I've made changes (Low Kick on Aggron, Air Slash on Yanmega thanks to Badgerzftw) and gotten started on the threatlist. Was my typo in the tiltle driving people away or something?

Decided I'll use roar...

Also, since this team pays tribute to Fire Emblem, I might as well add that a Fire Emblem game is coming to the 3DS. Buy it....

-While a Baloon on Aggron makes sense (as well as being incredibly hilarious thinking about it), I suggest giving Electivire an Expert Belt. The 20% boost on Electivire's moves (and with Electric/ Fighting/ Ground/ Fire, you hit quite a lot of types super effectively) is a lot more reliable and useful than you would think, and tricks many people into believing you are Scarfed/ Banded, allowing you to get a surprise KO sometimes. I also suggest changing Thunderbolt to Wild Charge, just for the extra power. If you do change it to Wild Charge, change the EV's to max Atk/ 4 sp. atk. Hasty 4 Sp. Atk Electivire's Flamethrower with an Expert Belt does 57.53- 68.84% to Sassy max HP/ max Sp. Def Ferroseed, forcing it to switch out when it comes in to wall you or get roasted.

-Try changing Toxic on Entei to HP Grass. Even with an Adamant nature, HP Grass is able to 2HKO Gastrodon, Quagsire, and the Rhymons, the best counters to Entei. Well worth it.

- I also suggest bringing Entei's Toxic to Blastoise, replacing Ice Beam. Being able to cripple walls without Rest/ Heal Bell is very important.

Good team, good luck on the ladder :D

I'll think about those, but without toxic, what would I do to Lickitung?

There's no reason to not run rain dish on blastoise, torrent really doesn't do anything to you, and rain is on the rise in ru.

nitpick: the name is actually Dread Isle >.>

aside from that, I'm not sure how you are actually setting up SR with Aggron, then Autotomise sweeping afterwards

also, uh, HP Grass on Entei? I don't think that's good, especially since HP is rather weak usually(70 BP) and you have a hindering nature + no investment. change it to Iron Head or Bulldoze in the very least...

your log wasn't anything convincing either js. full of hax and what not.

I'v said it before, HP Grass has the ninche of hitting Entei's counters hard. I don't usually get up Stealth Rock, but I can sometimes find a place.

Hi fatsnorlax, I think you should try HP [Grass] instead of Earthquake on Electivire. If it is functioning as a wallbreaker then it will really appreciate the ability to break Rhyperior, Quagsire and Gastrodon. Also you can try pumping more EVs into its offensive stats and use 92 Spe EVs with a neutral nature instead. It still outruns all walls but if you get the Motor Drive boost then it just outspeeds Alakazam and other Base 120s. This is a risky move though as it will lose a lot of speed against offensive threats but it will hit harder against walls so it's up to your preference. It's an option if its main purpose is a wallbreaker.

I personally use Toxic on Entei because I like to cripple Blastoise, Rhyperior or Cresselia switch-ins. I know you swapped it for HP [Grass] and if works for you then that's fine too as it kills Omastar and Rhyperior faster but both options have certain advantages so it's nice to switch around once in a while to keep your opponents (the ladder!) on their toes.

My only other suggestion is to use Substitute or Night Slash on Honchkrow instead of Pursuit. Nothing in the tier wants to take a Brave Bird from Honchkrow and the few things that can generally end up walling Honchkrow even at +1 (Rhyperior) so the extra kill from Pursuit isn't always necessary or helpful. With Substitute you can play even more mindgames with walls while Night Slash lets you fish for a crit on their switch to a counter (Rhyperior lol) and it gives you a reliable Dark STAB which is helpful.

Overall the team looks solid, Entei and Electivire are good lures that can eliminate Honchkrow's counters to help it sweep while Yanmega should be good at cleaning up. Good luck!
