Opinions?

Ive heard that the camera's just the same as an old phone and It cant play GBA games anymore.

and btw, dont worry about it being region locked cause it will be released at the same time with pokemon Platinum in the US, It has a flash card Drive anyways so no need for an R4 to play games, music, etc., and

IT's COMPATIBLE FOR ALL NDS GAMES, SO DONT WORRY ABOUT IT BEING REGION LOCKED, BLAH2X...ETC. ETC.

As for me, I really wanted to have this because I only have one DS and I wanted to give it to my brother so that he can play Diamond, and so that we can now trade wirelessly, and trying this out isnt that bad. I really wanted to try out this shit.. :D

i'm buying myself a new ds lite for christmas tommorrow, i mean the camera and bigger screens are sorta cool, but i want my gba slot

also i heard it wouldn't work with r4 for some reason

I know I'll be picking one up simply because my DS-chunky is almost worn out from use. Makes me glad I didn't buy a DS Lite sooner. Doesn't look too bad really.

Normaly I wouldnt keep buying every version but since my ds kind of wore out now i might end up picking up.It doesnt really seem worth the money though.

My ds Lite works for now plus this hunk of junk will be way to expensive. Maybe around $250-350 even though it is worth it. I mean why get a new ds when you already have a working one.

I don't think i'll buy it since i have a DS lite =/. it looks pretty cool, and I like the camera idea.

I never bother to get a ds lite guess that gives me more a reason to get this now.

I'd sooner get a new DS than a DSi. Here's why:

1) Lack of a GBA slot hurts.
2) Low Battery Life
3) Region Locked

Way to shit everything up Nintendo, especially for #1 and #3.

Lack of a GBA slot hurts, but it seems that it has enough features for Nintendo to stay on top of the sales charts. Everyone already has a Lite and a original one though. Why does everything have to pack in a poor camera and internet connection now? The picture edit is a nice touch though. I think a price drop will seal the deal for a lot of people.

Who else agrees with me that DS Lite buttons suck?

Um... It has a camera, an internet connection, and is slightly bigger, but no GBA games? I'll stick with the DS lite and use a camera and computer for the other things myself, but I'm sure people will surely want it too, just not me.

I dont really care about a gba slot though region lock is a turn off.

It will not activate any cheats what so ever, and you know the Japanese Platinum most of you imported? It won't work on the American DSi, plus the Internet connection will be less viable then the PSP's, and the camera isn't even needed. We have phones that do this already, and the PSP, which is getting better thanks to Square-Enix endorsement. Its not likely the completely revamped it with great new graphics, its just the same DS Lite, except its a bit shittier now with no GBA playback, and low battery life as well. Flashcarts have also been made obsolete, and the SD card slot is there to probably detect ROMs. This is a good way to stop piracy Nintendo, if you hadn't already made the DS Lite the number one handheld!

I still might buy it though if I have money I want to burn, but I wouldn't count on it... The storing games thing is probably going to make you use points to buy GBA/Color games, or just made up games like WiiWare. It would be awesome if they made Pokemon Ranch DSi, were you have more boxes to the games you are already using and can store them on the SD card.

It'd be amazing if they decide to release a GS remake only for DSi. And when I say "amazing", I mean "amazingly retarded". But it's still possible.

I'd rather buy another DS Lite. Low-life battery and lack of a GBA slot seals the deal to me.

I don't care about GBA slot (since my GBA games are illegal and I already have a DS anyway), but low battery life and region-lock is bad :S.

DS Lite:
Longer battery life
Plays MP3 files with a flashcard
GBA slot
Support for Opera browser
Smaller screen
Narrower build

DSi:
Shorter battery life
Only plays AAC files
No GBA slot
Has browser built in
Larger screen
Thinner build
Access to online store
Camera

The browser is not a reason to buy a DSi. The combined cost of buying a DS lite ($130) and the browser ($30) is less than the cost of buying a DSi (which is roughly $180). The only thing that the DSi really has going for it is access to the online store, and I'd rather have access to the GBA library (literally thousands of games) than a few dozen online exclusives that are likely to disappoint. The camera seems nothing more than a brief amusement that is functionally useless to most people who own phones. The larger screen comes at the cost of decreased battery life (powering the screen is one of the most significant drains on power) and the AAC playback from SD cards comes at the cost of losing support for flashcards which allow you to use more common formats like MP3.

No GBA slot is the only thing I don't like about it, but I'll most likely get it next month since I sold my DS Lite.

I do.

I'm kinda annoyed that R4 and others won't work on it, my only hope for something similar would be the console getting hacked (like PSP) or something like that to play of SD cards. Otherwise no thanks, the camera and "slightly bigger" screens aren't worth it, i don't care about the GBA slot that much, however i still have GBA games to play with.

The potential "Virtual console" may be interesting :)

I'm not buying this simply because I pretty much only use my DS to play GBA games. Also the camera is shit and not worth it.

I don't see any reason for me to buy a DSi,
I mean the screen isn't much bigger, it has no GBA slot and I don't care about a camera...

I see it as a bust
