Rules​
  • Follow all rules listed here.​
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for us to make decisions for activity calls when we can actually see what went down with scheduling.​
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to us or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.​
  • Substitutions may be made after a week as started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.​
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.​
  • Post replays. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later. They're also required.​

Now that roughly 75% of the teams are out of the tournament, I felt like it was a pretty good time to make a post like this.

Of the four teams left contending for a ring, Latin America is the only team that has the chance to tie US West's 2-time world cup champion accomplishment. In particular, the players responsible for such a feat would be: Akaru Kokuyo, Ann, papiloco, Enzonana., GasaiYunoSan, luisin, and Zerotti.

However, these aren't the only players that can earn the title of 2-time champions, even if the teams they played for aren't consistent. All of Italy, US South, and US MidWest have several players that can earn this achievement due to prior wins on the now defunct Team Mediterranean (DWC 1) and US East (DWC 2). Note that for DWC 2 US East only, it was actually comprised of a good bit of the central/midwest region, as we only had two US teams in that tournament. For Italy, this list includes Amaranth and... that's it. Wow. For US South, this lineup includes Actuarily, Xrn, zee, and zoe. For US MidWest, we have qsns, Paraplegic, edit: and laptops.

So far we've seen some pretty nice storylines unfolding already, such as India's comfortable push to playoffs despite a low power ranking, US NorthEast and South both making it out of pools despite the failures of US East in DWC 3, 4, & 5, and Midwest (if we include Central) winning a playoff match for the first time in the team's history (all past editions of DWC with the obvious exception of 2). In the semifinals, the main thing that stands out to me is the showdown between the US teams, guaranteeing one, but only one, American representative will move on to the grand finals. In particular, the Croven v qsns pairing is sure to excite the boomers, while the zoomers are being well fed by some quality SV pairings. Italy farmed pools with ease and dominated West in quarters in the entertaining 4-games-in-1-hour gauntlet where Amaranth sacrificed himself to save team Italy, but LatAm also had an impressive showing to upset team India after scraping in at 12-12. Assuming Ann is holding down her players at gunpoint for no more RFNs, I'm hoping to see some more intense b2b gaming later this week.

Personally, I'm expecting to Italy to advance to the finals over LatAm, but either way it should be a great series. To my friends on US MidWest, I hope you get owned, and I hope my enemies get owned even harder. Go South baybeeee
