Isn't it ironic that we notice the sun and moon when they disappear from our view?
Technically, it's called a transit rather than an eclipse. A Mercury transit of the sun occurred in 2003. Mercury transits occur only in May and November, and are pretty common, about one every few years. It is impossible to see a Mars transit from Earth, as it is outside Earth's orbit rather than inside.I think Saturn was also visible below the moon.
Altmer: Wow, that's pretty neat. Could Mars or Mercury also do the same thing?
