NOC Electoral Mafia - Game thread

Welcome to Electoral Mafia! This is a game centered around the voting system, a super underutilised gimmick, with most roles having something to do with it.

Please read the general rules here if you haven't already.

Specific game rules

This game is role madness with 10 Town vs 4 Scum, and no third party.

The game follows a standard day-night cycle with votes in the day and actions in the night.

A tie vote results in no vote

The mafia's night kill action is non-standard; it revolves around the voting system.

Days will be 48 hours long, nights will be 24 hours long, ending at 9pm GMT+1

here to speculate: surely it's not as simple as "the mafia have to vote in private for which of us to kill" because that'd functionally be no different from a normal night kill, right?

or like they had to get some vote from town if we want to go on the other side so u have to 'help' town in this way

I think the nightkills either have something to do with who voted a mafia goon or the #2/#3 wagons that werent voted out etc.

NKA after night 1 will help us a lot in narrowing it down and ruling out certain gimmicks

Normally, the mafia just decides among themselves over the night who to kill, and does that. This game seems to not have that in some form, but we don't actually know what is different at the minute.

I assume this means mafia get extra votes or some form of vote manipulation, so strap in cause this is going to be a game full of wacky hijinx. If I were maf, I would hate not having an NK. Also tbh I feel like a lot of NOCs have been nightless or 'nightless' lately. Of course maybe there is some sort of NK, the rules are kind of vague about it. I guess it wouldn't be too surprising if its like a Mafia Vengeful situation since getting voted would "revolve around the voting system".

I actually really like that idea as GM. But that would also imply that mafia don't have any chat because then they'd just agree who to kill before voting. So I find that unlikely.

I think he was joking but it might be the case. 4:10 is definitely more mafia than normal (3:10) and this game seems to be centered around votes so it does kind of emanate the sense of being a pseudo mountainous game where likely many/most roles are vote oriented.

So you think mafia will only be permitted to kill specific people? I guess that would be plausible but Im not sure if that is a sufficient nerf to the NK to justify a 4:10 game. You can be town for having this opinion though.

Ya, its hard to say. Personally makes me think it has to do with vote manipulation. We really won't know for sure until later on. All I can say definitively is that 4:10 is more mafia than normal so it seems it will be limited in some way or another. Its still a good conversation starter so I like to see everyone speculate.

I assume it's probably like they can only kill between x people based on how votes were distributed.

I don't really see why we should be worrying too much about that anyways. Who wants to mass claim?

I can’t imagine there are many ways for the vote system to tie into the mafia kill action, I think mafia being able to kill who voted for them is highly plausible but what do I know
