Evil Incineroar Has to Die

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Stellar (First Use) Deoxys-Attack Tera Blast (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tera Steel Incineroar: 286-336 (72.5 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Information Dispatch #54

I have bad news. I have spotted Evil Incineroar purchase the Utility Umbrella item. This item has failed to break into the Galar market, only seeing use in the clashes of legends of Ubers and Anything Goes. The effects of this umbrella are many, but all relate to the weather. Notably, the holder only takes normal damage from Fire- and Water-type moves under Sunlight or Rain.

As Physical Attackers, Koraidon and Groudon suffer the most from this new information and no longer qualify as Agents. Additionally, despite the Assault Vest providing the same 2/3 damage reduction, the Utility Umbrella is marginally better against Special Attackers through unknown means (rounding, probably). This does not hamper Kyogre or Mega-Charizard-Y, but their records will have to be adjusted.

-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Orichalcum Pulse Tera Fire Koraidon Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Incineroar: 114-134 (28.9 - 34%) -- 1.4% chance to 3HKO
-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Fire Groudon Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Incineroar: 93-109 (23.6 - 27.6%) -- 80.5% chance to 4HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Water Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tera Water Incineroar: 231-272 (58.6 - 69%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Tera Fire Charizard-Mega-Y Blast Burn vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Incineroar: 161-190 (40.8 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

I advise future missions involving the weather to calculate with the Utility Umbrella instead of the Assault Vest. I will continue to be on the lookout for items that Evil Incineroar has up their sleeves.

For Evil Incineroar to have a higher chance of "countering" this set, it would have to Tera Ghost and run Intimidate, due to MMX being Physical.
But Evil Incineroar has a 66.7% chance to fail the predict, since Tera Ghosting + Lash Out would lead to its death. (lash out is calced at 150 bp)

Lvl 60 Ting-Lu Ruination vs. 248 HP Incineroar: 196-196 (49.8 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

guardian of alola is obviously dishonorable since it's calling on some random light giant to fight for the tapu, but surely even evil incineroar would not attempt to claim a mere dark type clone of super fang, a move the humble bidoof and rattata call their own, lacks honor and a sense of fair play. ting lu is even willing to accept a 40 level disadvantage to demonstrate its unwavering good intentions.

252+ Atk (Inner Focus blocking Intimidate) Choice Band Tera Flying Dragonite Brave Bird (via Metronome) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Steel Incineroar: 170-200 (43.1 - 50.7%) -- 3.9% chance to 2HKO

252+ Atk (Clear Body) Choice Band Tera Rock Diancie Rock Wrecker (via Metronome) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Steel Incineroar: 173-204 (43.9 - 51.7%) -- 10.9% chance to 2HKO

If these count as dishonorable though scarf wisp would be an issue, unless that technically makes Incineroar lose the 1v1 altogether

Information Dispatch #59

Attention all prospect agents. I have compiled a list of items that I presume Evil Incineroar may use from the National Dex registry.
Confirmed:
Assault Vest: Holder's Sp. Def is 1.5x, but it can only select damaging moves.
Air Balloon: Holder is immune to Ground-type attacks. Pops when holder is hit.
Chilan Berry: Halves damage taken from a Normal-type attack. Single use.
Choice Scarf: Holder's Speed is 1.5x, but it can only select the first move it executes.
Electric Seed: If the terrain is Electric Terrain, raises holder's Defense by 1 stage. Single use.
Grassy Seed: If the terrain is Grassy Terrain, raises holder's Defense by 1 stage. Single use.
Utility Umbrella: The holder ignores rain- and sun-based effects.
Effective:
Misty Seed: If the terrain is Misty Terrain, raises holder's Sp. Def by 1 stage. Single use.
Psychic Seed: If the terrain is Psychic Terrain, raises holder's Sp. Def by 1 stage. Single use.
Rumored:
Ability Shield: Holder's Ability cannot be changed by any effect.
Clear Amulet: Prevents other Pokemon from lowering the holder's stat stages.
Covert Cloak: Holder is not affected by the secondary effect of another Pokemon's attack.
Full Incense/Lagging Tail: Holder moves last in its priority bracket.
Iron Ball: Holder is grounded, Speed halved. If Flying type, takes neutral Ground damage.
Mirror Herb: When an opposing Pokemon raises a stat stage, the holder copies it. Single use.
Safety Goggles: Holder is immune to powder moves and damage from Sandstorm or Hail.

The Terrain Seeds may break Evil Incineroar's Code of Honor to not use the crutch of stat boosts. The Focus Sash may also break his Code of Honor if he chooses to accept defeat. I will need Taskmaster Adeleine to confirm Evil Incineroar utilizing these items.

The other items are unlikely to be used by Evil Incineroar, but agents must be careful to not use a strategy defeated by these items, much like how Dracovish fell to the Choice Scarf. I have ruled out luck-reliant items such as Bright Powder and Quick Claw, as they break his Code of Honor.

It is difficult to take down Evil Incineroar, but there are many Agents capable of stopping him. Stay strong.

P.S. The Misty Seed and Psychic Seed boost Evil Incineroar's Special Defense. However, the Assault Vest provides the same 2/3 damage reduction, so no additional preparation is necessary. This cannot be said about the Electric Seed and the Grassy Seed, and Tapu Bulu could risk their life.

252+ SpA Splash Plate Tera Stellar Arceus Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Incineroar: 280-332 (71 - 84.2%) -- guaranteed 2hko

Legend plate ensures that judgment is super effective no matter what and Tera stellar means it always gets a boost

Correct. His body is daunting enough as it is.
Ty

I can kill Evil Incineroar if dynamax is banned explicitly. I'm gonna do a little rule bending but everything I do is legal.

Here are the rules I plan to follow via technicallity:
*5) ...But he knows your heart. If you go back on your honor with debased tactics like OHKO moves (not that they'd save you, anyway), Final Gambit, and reliance on luck-based effects, he will cast aside his few mores.
My strategy does none of this.

*6) Evil Incineroar doesn't like Generation 8. No Dynamax.
This rule does not ban Generation 8, it just bans Dynamax. This is fine, and is in fact a key part of how I plan to defeat Incineroar.

Rule 2: He can freely change the following tools: Level, Gender, Ability, Item, all six stats, nature, and (activated) Tera Type.
Rule 3: Singles format, not doubles. No Baton Pass stat boosts, no entry hazards or teammate attacks, no teammates for Beat Up, and so on.
Incineroar cannot change the format. The format must be singles, there are no other restrictions on the format.

So I'm going to do this challenge in Gen 8 OU. Nothing in the rules says I can't choose the format, it just says that Incineroar can change its tera type. I'm just going to deny Incineroar's access to terastalization altogether by doing it in a generation before it was invented.

This may look unfair, but it follows all the rules specified imo. Incineroar being able to terastalize is implied but not outright specified in the rules, only in the hints. Additionally, there's this
Remember to fully simulate Evil Incineroar's ability to counter your set. Here is a helpful general-purpose checklist of Evil Incineroar abilities:
- Assault Vest or Intimidate (Here, Intimidate, hence the -1 to Rayquaza-Mega.)
- Maximum HP and defensive investment with a positive nature.
- A Tera type that resists or is immune to your attack.

There are certain situations where one or more of these traits may not be relevant. If so, please specify why with a note under your calculation.
I think I have created a situation where the tera type trait is not relevant.

Here's my calc: (which for those of you just joining, is short for calculation):

-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Passho Berry Incineroar on a critical hit: 395-470 (100.2 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

We avoid Intimidate by using a move that guarantees crits. We avoid Incineroar terastalizing by playing in Gen 8, but then Incineroar has to consider strategies that deal with super effective hits. Passho Berry reduces this back to hitting for neutral damage.

Changing the format to Gen 8 opens up more strategies I'm sure, but I decided to go for some bonus points by bypassing Protect and Focus Sash as well.

Anyway now that I've explained everything, let me take a big swig of water and type /learn Incineroar, Fake Out

Since we do allow natdex mechanics outside of gen 8, mega evolving with Mewtwo wouldn't violate the code of honor, meaning Incineroar wouldn't run Focus Sash.

252+ Atk Gorilla Tactics Tera Stellar (First Use) Darmanitan-Galar Tera Blast (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Incineroar: 176-208 (44.6 - 52.7%) -- 23.4% chance to 2HKO

Darnanitan-G is Clear Amulet, whose effect on damage rolls is the same as Choice Band but I thought was more interesting as an item choice.

Why would Incin use Tera Ghost Colbur if it can change its legal set after you've chosen your attack? Also, doesn't Mewtwo have to start out as regular Mewtwo (in other words, it needs the Mewtwonite X, so it can't have Life Orb)? You also don't seem to be running an Adamant nature, and I don't know if Lash Out's power doubles if Intimidate activates at the start of the battle.

My goodness. The agents have been active. Let's get down to business.
I decide to go out in a questionable blaze of glory and force evil Incineroar to break his honor first, either by forgoing Assault Vest to minimize damage as the best counter or having to choose any attacking move and kill. Which rule does he value more?

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Bug Shedinja Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tera Fire Incineroar: 37-44 (9.3 - 11.1%) -- possible 9HKO
This is a clever ruse. Unfortunately, there is a complication. Using Shedinja expands the range of applicable null moves. Incineroar dons an Assault Vest and using Scratch, simultaneously preserving his honor and minimizing damage.

skippergamez already submitted metagross but chose a sub-optimal set

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Stellar (First Use) Metagross Tera Blast (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Incineroar: 170-202 (43.1 - 51.2%) -- 5.1% chance to 2hko

Unfortunately, Urshifu-Rapid-Strike (as well as Urshifu-Single-Strike) was already submitted. Apparently, the Hall of Records did not already have these strategies – our apolog

gonna one-up this one with 2 more base Attack:

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Stellar (First Use) Solgaleo Tera Blast (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Incineroar: 173-204 (43.9 - 51.7%) -- 11.7% chance to 2HKO

Success! You have earned classification: Agent on both fronts. Rampardos is a refinement of an idea initially submitted by Adeleine, so you both will gain credit.

Much more awaits!

252+ SpA Tera Fire Groudon-Primal Eruption (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tera Water Incineroar in Harsh Sunshine: 155-183 (39.3 - 46.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Steel Metagross Hard Press (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Fire Incineroar: 142-168 (36 - 42.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Apologies, I did not notice these. You have earned classification: Agent. However, Metagross is now using Bog Monster's strategy for higher damage, so it is not present in the Hall in this form.

Also requesting for the immediate removal of Sirfetch'd and Pangoro as agents, as Evil Incineroar is extremely knowledgable of competitive abilities, and will instead attempt to resist their fighting moves by using the much superior Tera Bug.

Agency Policy Feed:
- I have streamlined the Hall of Records to a much more concise format and included several entries that were not present. The sheer volume of your submissions – thank you, efficacious agents!!! – will make record-keeping a challenge, but I will do my strongest to coordinate our effort against the feline menace.
- If I do not respond to your post, another person may have already addressed it. If I believe this is true, I will "Like" their post. If you would like further information or believe your strategy was missed, let me know!
- Especially in the light of new policy developments below, I want to make something clear. Posters, an agent now is an agent forever. If you are a poster who received official recognition, that investment is permanent, even if future strategic or information developments remove your strategy from the hall. Wear your service with pride!

Tremendous thanks to Magic Mayhem Maiden for their excellent and definitely-corruption-free additions to our knowledge. We would hardly want to devise a strategy against Evil Incineroar that fails in the field! You have earned classification: Researcher. I'll provide some specific commentary and analysis:

- I have edited and tested relevant calculations for the Utility Umbrella, including the recently-added Groudon-Primal. We won't let this devious trick hinder our efforts to take him down!
- Regarding Terrain Seeds and the Focus Sash: I have clarified the wording of the rules to reflect his disdain for stat-boosting moves. These are a problem because they would interfere with your ability to have one free turn to defeat him. Stat-boosting items are acceptable. Thus, I have removed Tapu Bulu for their safety. However, the Focus Sash would be dishonorable on his end.

Is it assumed that Evil Incineroar will forego Intimidate for Blaze if one where to run a Defiant or Competitive Pokémon
Yes, assuming doing so would be to his benefit.

Also requesting for the immediate removal of Sirfetch'd and Pangoro as agents, as Evil Incineroar is extremely knowledgable of competitive abilities, and will instead attempt to resist their fighting moves by using the much superior Tera Bug.
In these calculations, Evil Incineroar is already using a Fighting-resistant Tera Type. I have edited the note of Sirfetch'd to explain this. Thank you for your concern for their safety.

I must currently tend to other responsibilities, but the following prospective and current agents are on the docket:
- hendrit
- Bog Monster
- CaffeineBoost
- Tbolt

If we can cheat and use unavailable forms/items:

252+ SpA Splash Plate Tera Stellar Arceus Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Incineroar: 280-332 (71 - 84.2%) -- guaranteed 2hko

Legend plate ensures that judgment is super effective no matter what and Tera stellar means it always gets a boost
Never mind, this doesn't work. Evil incineroar can beat this by Tera electric + air balloon/shuca berry, forcing a neutral hit at best

252+ Atk Tera Fighting Lopunny-Mega Focus Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Fairy Incineroar: 144-170 (36.5 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Not bad.
Wouldn't Incineroar still Intimidate Lopunny before it Mega Evolves? The Mega Glalie example from before serves as an example of a Pokemon that started in base forme, used Inner Focus to block Intimidate, and then Mega Evolved to achieve its calculation. If we follow that example, Lopunny has no abilities that block Intimidate.

Of course, if we allow Lopunny (or any other Pokemon that can Mega Evolve) to start in its Mega forme and not need to Mega Evolve, then my worries become moot.
