EXTREME Tier Shift

Extreme Tier Shift.png
Have you ever wanted to use Ubers in Tier Shift? Have lower tiered Pokemon face off against the likes of Arceus and Groudon? Is regular Tier Shift not extreme enough for you? Then EXTREME Tier Shift (or ETS) may be the tier you're looking for!

This metagame takes the standard Ubers format but adds one simple rule - all Tier Shift boosts are doubled! If you are unfamiliar with the Tier Shift metagame, here are the rules:

Rules:
Mechanic
:
  • Pokemon in UU and BL2 get a boost of 10 in each stat.
  • Pokemon in RU and BL3 get a boost of 20 in each stat.
  • Pokemon in NU and BL4 get a boost of 30 in each stat.
  • Pokemon in PU and below get a boost of 40 in each stat.
  • Mega Pokemon get the boost from the Tier they are in.
Clauses: Ubers clauses
Bans: Ubers banlist (Mega Rayquaza), Eviolite
Unbans: N/A

Strategy:

Q&A:

Q
: How do boosts apply to Mega Pokemon?
A: The boosts apply to the tier where the mega form is ranked. Gyarados holding a mega stone will receive OU boosts (+0) but Gyarados not holding a stone receives UU boosts (+10).

Q: What about NFE Pokemon?
A: NFEs that are ranked in a tier (Gligar is in UU, Fletchinder is in RU) receive the boosts associated with that tier. Any NFEs that are unranked receive the boosts from PU.

Q: What about Pokemon in the BL tiers?
A: They receive boosts associated with the nearest tier above them. So anything in the BL tier receives boosts from OU, anything in the BL2 tier receives boosts from UU, etc.

Q: What about tiered abilities, such as Drizzle and Drought?
A: Similarly to mega stones, tiered abilities affect the Pokemon's boosts depending on where its ranked. Politoed with Drizzle (a BL ability) receives OU boosts (+0) but Politoed with another ability receives PU boosts (+40).

Resources:

Playability: You can play ETS on Rom!

Council: None yet. Most decisions are made by Eevee General.

Ban History:
4/29/2016: Eviolite banned officially.

I'm glad to see this to be completely honest. There are some Pokemon that weren't good enough, even after the original boosts. pikachu

Some thoughts;
190 atk Slaking? aw yeaaah.
Scyther becomes absolutely brutal with 140 atk and 135 speed with eviolite bulk of 100 - 110 - 110
Bastidion and avalug become bulk for days and days. Same goes for Uxie.
Meloetta can be potentially very scary in both forms.

Vullaby has extremely impressive defenses with Eviolite, Roost and defog. Rhydon has ridiculous HP and physical stats, gets spec def buff in sand, and can essentially OHKO 2/3rds of the Uber tier with his immense attack stat and dual STABs (so msot of the other buffed pokemon won't be an issue)

Dammit CactusCacti stole my Scyther idea. For real tho this guy has a ton of staying power whether you invest in bulk or not. 140 Attack is a good starting point and with all that Eviolite bulk it can Swords Dance+Roost a lot before laying the tier to waste.

Scyther @ Eviolite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Aerial Ace
- Knock Off / Bug Bite

Kl4ng brought up the Gourds in the chat. I think Super and Small are both excellent. Super gets 115/130/155/88/105/84 stats and Small gets 85/115/155/88/105/129. Super is a great mixed tank and Small looks like a fun SubSeeder/Burner. Super could even go toe-to-toe with Rhydon if needed and wear it down with Seed Bomb, Leech Seed, and Burn if it doesn't have Rest.

I don't know what is normally run on Regigigas, so I gave it perfect neutral coverage, but this is potentially terrifying after slow start ends.
BST of 850
140/190/140/110/140/130

Regigigas @ Leftovers
Ability: Slow Start
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Facade
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Thunder Wave

OU mons needs a small boost, IMO, just +5 to make themmore viable. Seriously, pokemon with big boosts like Audino, Mega Steelix, Fraxure, etc, COMPLETELY outgun and outperform OU pokemon that perform similar roles. Mega Audino is better than Chansey in basically every way, Xatu and Vullaby outdo Skarmory as Defoggers, and Fraxure is eons above Dragonite as a Dragon Dance sweeper. Not to mention that with Ubers allowed, those little boosts are necessary to potentially help some of them remain viable in a tier where Primal Groudon and Arceus are everywhere.

OU mons don't need a boost. Let the other Pokemon be better than them for once.

"Mega Audino is better than Chansey in basically every way" <- this is the point of OMs, to shake things up and then work with the aftermath.

not to mention Kyogre. Yeah, rain is broken as fuck. The only thing keeping it in check is the lack of reliable recovery primal groudon, which won't last long switching in to powerful attacks from these mons (as long as they aren't water type). Offensive teams just flat out can't handle repetitive attacks from these mons and their support can easily overwhelm their checks and counters.

We're completely forgetting about Rampardos, who can run a very effective mixed wallbreaker set that can lure in and kill a ton of mons with its solid base 85 Special Attack stat and stupidly high 185 attack. He has the abilitiy sheer force to abuse the coverage moves that compliment his rock STAB.

make that 195 atk and 95 spa.

It chooses what it wants to kill because it has literally ridiculous coverage and can 2hko any poke in the tier with the right move / investment.

There are plenty of ways to beat Rain in TS, and i don't think the sudden change in boosts is going to make Rain go out of control.

I said it in chat, you are def overreacting imo. The Meta hasn't existed for more then 24 hours. Let people explore different strategies of beating rain. And Rain is Offense's worst matchup in reg TS as well. Knee jerk reactions make things worse, not better.
I never said it is unbeatable, but the boosts will make offense very difficult to run imo. It just hits too hard and the utility that smashpass being so reliable provides is just amazing. Its a bad matchup for offense in regular TS, but we have offensive counters there. Consistent checks/counters just don't exist here that I see. If you can provide multiple mons (flexibility) that can consistently fit on offense and check rain teams then please enlighten me.

But you sure as hell implied it.
Edit: I mean seriously that last quote basically says "rain is unbeatable". And a sentence before that you say "I never said it is unbeatable"

The last sentence says there is no group of viable mons you can put on offense to give yourself reliable checks to rain teams. That does not imply its unbeatable, it implies that its very restrictive for offense. Stall is restrictive enough in this metagame, so non-rain offense is going to be difficult to run properly.

Okay people.

Latios @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Hidden Power Fire

It now got 90/100/90/140/120/120 stats AND Soul Dew boost. Cool.

Forgot OU doesn't get boosted.

If we really wanna give OU mon's a boost, we can start ou/bl at +10 and increment by 5 each tier and its respective BL below. This makes UU/BL2 a bit stronger and NU and below a bit weaker (unless PU could be included but that's stretching it). Ofc this isn't up to my discretion, just a possibility to make higher tiers more usable.
