Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Diego uses the last bit of Tailwind coupled with bug tenacity to fire 5 boulders at Marcia and he just watched as the rocks blast, with one of them hitting a critical spot. Scared of future surprises, Marcia paralyses Diego with Thunder Wave, just as the tailwind ends.
Now faster, Marcia manages to recover some health with Roost right before Diego's Stone Edge. Burn and the lack of weakness made this more...erm...manageable.
Finally, Marcia summons the Ancientpower to try to stop Armaldo and she even hit a critical spot. Of course Armaldo's Battle Armor protected it. But Marcia also got goodies! and all her stats rose!
Hax has finally proved that it treats everybody equal! It may give Armaldo 5 hit Rock Blasts, but it also gives Togekiss boosts! The world makes sense!
...until Diego fires 5 boulders with Rock Blast once again.
Hax is merciless.

There are many varieties of insects in the world, ranging from physical titans, to special behemoths, to frail swarm attackers. One that is particularly unique among Pokemon, and bugs in particular, is Stachybotrys shuckle, a defensive mold species that is noted for its almost impenetrable defences and pathetic damage output. It's unique battling style will be our next observation."

Here we are with what could be the final matchup. Dan sends out Callil the Blaziken Sanaki the Volcarona with Charcoal and orders it to get a rock-resist berry. Red sends out Shield the Shuckle with Muscle Band and orders it to get a grass-resist berry that will be useless this match, but ok.
And we start with an useless turn, as both Wil-o-Wisp and Stone Edge missed. Ironically with the same RNG roll.
On the following turn, Sanaki tries the status card again with Toxic and Shuckle the rock card with Rock Throw. This time both hit, so yay!
Finally, Sanaki and not callil flies up, while Shuckle used his superior speed (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH) to create two clones with Double Team. The volcarona then dives and completely and utterly destroy a Clone with fly.
Volcarona: Will-o-Wisp for 6 energy
Hit: 88 (no)
Shuckle: Stone Edge: (10 + 3 - 1.5)*1.5 = missed for 6 energy
Hit: 88 (no)
Volcarona: Toxic for 7 energy
Shuckle: Rock Throw: (5 + 3 - 1.5+1)*1.5 = 11.25 damage for 2 energy
Hit: 16 (yes)
Crit: 10 (no)
NOTE: The move description mentions that you get the rocks by pounding the grounds, so I allowed the move. But for future reference, just list the rock moves that are disallowed, or else it will end up being up to ref discretion...and that changes way too much.

Only Rock Slide is banned. I should get around to specifying that...
"Very well. Suckle are notable for having an array of options to preserve their health when facing down particularly tough opponents. Today we will be demonstrating a shielding technique against fire and toxins they have developed.
We are reaching endgame here folks, so let's see what this "gym-battle" has left to offer us.
Sanaki begins this round by using a Heat Wave to finish all the clones and hurt Shield in the process. The Shuckle, fearing a future burn to add to his poison, summons Safeguard for protection.
Now disclosed, the Volcarona tries again the Will-o-Wisp, probably unaware that Safeguard makes that attempt null and void. Shield takes the opportunity to attack with Stone Edge, forcing Sanaki to eat her Charti Berry for the second time.
Finally, Sanaki brings out the big guns and attacks with CymbelineFire Blast that deals goos damage despite Shuckle's tough exterior. Shield responds with Rock Throw and Sanaki is now out of her Charti Berries. The end is nigh!
"That will be enough for today. Armaldo is now returning to battle for the last leg of our demonstration. Let us see what it is capable of doing given the ideal pray- trapped on the insects web."
Rock Blast~Stone Edge~Rock Blast

The Gym Leader calls back his shuckle and sends Diego the Armaldo back to the fray. Unfortunately, the fossil bug is still burned and paralysed and may not survive much, but I am positive the gym leader has a plan.
This round starts with Sanaki using CymbelineCharcoal-powered Fire Blast again as a welcome gift. A gift that takes almost 60% of Diego's remaining health, but you can't complain of gifts, right?
The armaldo then responds with a gift of his own (actually 3 boulder-shaped gifts): Rock Blast. Thanks to the lack of charti berries, this dealt quite some damage.
BUT in the end Sanaki won this matchup, as her final Flamethrower burnt Diego to a crisp. KO.
Now the leader sends back Shuckle for the final round (hopefully) of this competition. Let's see how this pans out.
Volcarona: Fire Blast: 12 + 3 + 4 + 4= 23 damage for 11 energy

And Shuckle is baaaaaaack.
After a long beating, Sanaki decides to Roost to get some health back. But unfortunately, since it is a bug and not a flying type, Roost doesn't affect weaknesses and the Volcarona is then hit by a Stone Edge from Shuckle, for great damage.
Given the situation, Sanaki just gives up and Chills, as the second Stone Edge ends this round and the match.
And the Gym Leader Rediamond Wins!
Volcarona: Roost: +20hp for 12 energy
