Feraligator Question

Hmm, I'm Trainning my Toddile, so he can become a Feraligator, and to relpace my Milotic when necessary

What's a good nature to have and moveset?

I was thinking:

Jolly Nature

Waterfall
Dragon Dance
Ice Fang/Punch
Crunch

What moves / nature SHOULD I have?
 
Because both Gyrados and Feraligatr have high attack (Gyrados is higher though). They can both be used as Bulky Water's, in a way. Gyrados is a bit faster, and generally a bit better in this role, but Gyrados is way to overused. Feraligatr looks cooler, and unique since you don't see him in practically every battle you have, unlike Gyrados, which is part of most teams.

Feraligatr also gets a better Ice move; Ice Punch!

Feraligatr's Set:

Feraligatr @ Leftovers

- Ice Punch
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance / Swords Dance (what do you want more, Attack or Speed)
- Earthquake





Gyrados's Set


Gyrados @ Leftovers

- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Ice Fang/Stone Edge/Earthquake


See what I mean? Pretty similar set. In my opinion, Feraligatr is the best Gyrados substitution. The reason why Milotic shouldn't be replaced by Feraligatr is due to the fact that Milotic is meant to be a special wall. Using it as physical would be plain old silly.
 
Like I Said, in certain situations if necessary, I'll switch milotic with Feraligatr
Also, How do I get Ice Punch on Fer....

I know I have to use Absnow, but what genders for breeding?

Lol, I don't think you got the point. If you change Miotic with Feraligatr, you'd be getting rid of a wall and replacing it with a physical, instead of another wall. You get my point? When alternating your team (aka getting bored of one guy and putting in another in his place) you should replace them with a Pokemon that does the same job.

As for the breeding, I know nothing about breeding.

I already realize that

No one knows my team, so no one should be able to say I dont the point (not saying to be mean )

Thanks for the advice tho, I'm just trying to have a LARGE pokemon pool when I'm competivite battling

I'm keeping milotic, but I need a PHYSICAL attacking water type, milotic is a special wall / wall / atker...

Also, How do I get Ice Punch on Fer....

But, see, I don't have to know anything about your team to tell you that replacing Milotic (a special wall) with Feraligatr (a physical sweeper) isn't the hottest idea. But w/e, good luck with your team building! =D

It's worth noting that if you use Abomasnow to give Totodile Ice Punch, you can't get Dragon Dance. The only way to get Dragon Dance and Ice Punch on the same set is to get a Dragonite with Dragon Dance and Ice Punch (Emerald Move Tutor, I believe), and then breed with Totodile.
 
True.
But I wonder if most people realize that Feraligatr is oddly the same stragety to beat with Gyarados.... except, they dont have to worry about the atk loss.
 
Its not that overlooked...Feraligatr is just a Gyrados with lower stats, no notable advantages, with the exception of Ice Punch.

Also, when you said you'll stick with Ice Fang...Ice Punch is one of (probably the only) the advantages Feraligatr has over Gyrados, and letting that go would be a bummer. You really shouldn't give up on finding an Ice Punching Feraligatr.

I dont have time for that :P I have school

I'd pefer the added effects over power
 
Ice Fang 65 Base Power and 95 Accuracy. Has a 10% Chance of either Flinching or Freezing the Target.

Ice Punch 75 Base Power, 100 Accuracy. Has a 10% Chance of Freezing.


No added effects...Ice Punch over Ice Fang any day. In fact, Ice Fang may ruin it for you. See, Ice Punch will always freeze the target if its effect activates, while Ice Fang might flinch or freeze your target when the effect activates. Freezing is obviously better than flinching.
