First RMT Sandstorm Team

Hi all, This is my first RMT.
I made a Sandstorm team which has been working pretty good.
I've been playing/editing this team for some time now and I would like to know what you think of it :).
I hope you like it.

TEAM:

248.png

Sahara (Tyranitar) (M) @ Chople Berry
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Rock Slide

This is my lead. Tyranitar is here to set up the Sandstorm obviously.
It's EV's give him decent bulk. Also, Chople Berry weakens Focus Blasts coming from the likes of Gengar, Thundurus, etc. and then i can kill them with either Crunch, Pursuit or Rock Slide.
Crunch is here to eliminate the likes of Reuniclus and it's also a strong STAB move. I chose Rock Slide over Stone Edge because it has more accuracy then Stone Edge and also has a flinching chance. Rock Slide is very handy against Volcarona.

381.png

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 6 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Recover

Latios is my main Drizzle counter. It carries Recover so it can recover the 16,75% health it loses every turn thanks to Sandstorm and Life Orb. Psyshock is a great STAB move against the likes of Virizion. Hidden Power [Fire] when i expect a Steel type to switch in to my Draco Meteor.
It's EV's are standard.

542.png

Cranq (Excadrill) (M) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Frustration

Excadrill is my Sand sweeper. Excadrill has great synergy with Sandstorm thanks to it's ability. His great movepool combined with Sandstorm makes him a great Sand sweeper. With Earthquake, Rock Slide and Brick Break it has nearly perfect coverage. I replaced Brick Break with Frustration since it OHKO's Hydreigon after a SD and it does more damage against threats like Gliscor. For the rest it's just a normal Excadrill set.

503.png

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 196 HP / 144 SAtk / 168 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Trick
- Will-O-Wisp

Rotom-w is also great against Drizzle teams. It's choice scarf lets it outspend many rain threats.
Hydro Pump is a powerfull STAB move. Volt Switch for when i predict the switch obviously. Trick can really cripple the likes of Ferrothorn and Gastrodon. Will-O-Wisp is good against physical attackers like scrafty.

428.png

SnaleLord (Gastrodon-East) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover

This is my main water counter. I bring it in if i expect a water attack and gain the +1 special attack boost. It's also a very good thundurus counter since it's Focus blast won't OHKO after a Nasty Plot. Scald works really well against Heatran and since i invested in Special defense it will also be able to take a HP Grass coming from a Heatran. It's also a great Rotom-w counter since it resists both it's STAB's.
Toxic + Recover can stall out a large amount of pokemon aswell.

477.png

TryHitMe (Gliscor) (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 176 Def / 88 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Ice Fang
- Taunt

Gliscor is my physical wall.
It has some great typing which despite his 0 EV's in attack gives him a strong STAB Earthquake.
I bring it in against the likes of Scizor and Terrakion and other physical attackers glister resists. Thanks to it's great defense it can heal of the damage with Poison Heal + Protect.
If i encounter other Gliscor or something like Ferrothorn I set up Swords Dances so i can KO with either Ice Fang or Earthquake.
I chose Ice Fang over Facade so i can counter Dragonite better and other Gliscors aswell.
It's EV's allow it to take a lot of physical hits while Protect can help it heal with Poison Heal.

Well this concludes my first RMT .
I would be very grateful for any feedback/tips.
thanks in advance ;).

Dragon Dance Scrafty, Stall teams, Calm Mind Virizion, Taunt Will-O-Wisp Mew, and opposing Gastrodon can give you problems. Scrafty and Virizion can force out Latios at -2 or Tyranitar, get a boost, and sweep your team. Excadrill does outspeed them, but it fails to OHKO either with its moves, while they KO back. Tyranitar does reduce their damage with Chople Berry, but can't do much back to them. Stall teams get multiple opportunities to switch in, and set-up hazards (namely on Latios, Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Gliscor), then make you eat repeated entry hazard damage by forcing switches, as you have nothing to break through then. Gastrodon can also be troublesome once it gets a storm drain boost on Rotom-W, as it can take a hit, then hurt you badly, and your only chance against it is to poison it with your own Gastrodon.

To handle the weakness to Stall and Taunt W-o-W Mew, try Taunt over Protect on Gliscor and give it 80 EVs in Spe, taken out of Defense. This will allow Gliscor to turn common Stall members into set-up fodder to rack up multiple Swords Dance, and sweep them if they lack a proper answer to it. 80 Speed EVs also let you outrun Mew, Taunting it, and rendering it useless.

For Calm Mind Virizion, give Latios a set of Draco Meteor / Hidden Power Fire / Surf / Psyshock. Thunderbolt shouldn't me missed tbh, its common targets lose a chunk from DM, while Recover was necessary to remove IMO, to give you not leave you walled against Ferrothorn, and let you OHKO CM Virizion, regardless of its boosts, with Psyshock.

Changing Rotom-W to a Scarf variant with the upcoming spread will let you revenge kill common Rain sweepers and the bulk to take hits from them, while at the same time, being able to cripple Gastrodon's defensive capabilites with Trick, and being able to cripple Scrafty with Will-O-Wisp. Gastrodon won't be too much of a bother if it is locked into one move, and since most Scrafty are Moxie variants, Will-O-Wisp will put a hamper on their attacking potential. Beware of Shed Skin variants though, and this is why you might want to test a Life Orb and Brick Break over X-Scissor on Excadrill for further insurance against Scrafty.

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 196 HP / 144 SAtk / 168 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Trick
- Will-O-Wisp

LK you too good. Beat me to it. Exactly my thoughts.

The only suggestions that I have would be running HP Grass over WoW or Trick. OHKO's Gastro to make things with him easier.

I would also suggest running Pursuit over Rock Slide if Latios is a problem. And pack a 252 HP 216Def stat spread on TTar if you can't nab the KO on them. I don't see rock slide being very effective with TTar. I'd suggest Ice Beam over it if you don't like the Pursuit idea.

The only reason I suggest a pursuit SpDef TTar is simply because once Latios gets in on your Gliscor, RotomW, and maybe even a predicted surf from yours you will have a hard time weathering them. Gastrodon CAN take a couple Draco Meteor's but not for long. Gastrodon seems a glue to your team and is definitely important and can't be weakened for fear of possible sweepers.

When Bulky SD Scizor comes in and used Swords Dance, it can already tear through your team I guess. WoW on Rotom or HP Fire on Latios could solve that.

Hi, I got your request and this seems like a pretty solid team. There are no huge outstanding weaknesses here so I'm just going to recommend some small changes so that you patch up some little holes. First of all, I really think that the Tyranitar spread that you're running is quite inefficient. Although it is the standard spread, you are still 2HKOed by surf from specs Latios along with a myriad of other special attacks which could really be avoided. I'd simply recommend bulking up Tyranitar's spread to maximum hp and special defense in order to win against a whole lot of specially based threats such as Gengar, Thundurus, Volcarona, and the lati twins much more easily. I'd also recommend a set of crunch / rock slide / stealth rock / pursuit on Tyranitar. With maximum hp and special defense and a chople berry, Tyranitar will be able do to very well against the likes of Thundurus and Gengar. Rock slide allows you to check Volcarona in a pinch as you will be able to live a +1 bug buzz relatively easily.

Excadrill could really use to have rapid spin over brick break. Most of the time, brick break is needless coverage anyways and if you decide to use rock slide on Tyranitar, then Skarmory and Ferrothorn get one more place to spike on you. I would also try running air balloon over life orb if you decide to test rapid spin as losing 10% of your health simply to spin hazards away is not really worth it at all. I would also try to test a set of scald over earth power on Gastrodon. Earth power does not really hit very many things of note that scald and ice beam won't hit. You could also try running a spread of 244 HP / 176 Def / 88 Spe on Gliscor. This allows you to hit a good poison heal number while still attaining enough speed to outrun threats such as taunt + wow Mew and breloom, as well as other Gliscor. gl.

I suggest running Recover over Surf on your Latios mainly because Latios is easily handled by any team that takes advantage of your Sandstorm + Life Orb recoil weakness. Your Latios won't be usable for too many turns because of that as it will take 16.25% damage at the end of the turn when attacking.

For Excadrill, I really recommend replacing Brick Break for Frustration. As Frustration will allow you OHKO Hydreigon (as you mentioned why you have Brick Break) after a Swords Dance. Brick Break is pretty useless as Earthquake will deal the same amount of damage (obviously excluding Flying-types and Levitaters) as a super-effective Brick Break. Not only that, Frustration is useful for many other threats like dealing more damage (than Rock Slide) onto Gliscor, Latios, Rotom-W, etc. So definitely go with Frustration.

Good luck.
