The UU tier has always been the one I've had more of an interest in, so i wanted to give proper competitive battling a go with my own team.
My battle style is usually to annoy or trick my opponent with various strategies like Toxic Orb Gliscor or SubSeed Ludicolo. Of course, I realise they are parse in the UU tier so that is why I need help perfecting a team!
First came the thought process, and I always think of a suitable lead for my team first...
Bronzong @ Light Clay | Levitiate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD | Relaxed
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
My lead - Bronzong. Depending on my judgement of the other lead Pokémon, I'll either set up Stealth Rock or Dual Screens first. After either or both are in place, I switch out my Brozong, to save it for Gyro Balling or Dual Screening later on in the battle. Obviously Bronzong is wide open to Fire types, so I keep Miltolic on hand to deal with them.
Chandelure @ Leftovers | Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe | Modest
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
With my Chandelure, I utilise my substitute/pain split combo to not only drag my opponent's HP down, but pull mine back up. This gives me a slight upper hand, and the Speed is really helpful in this strategy too. I chose Flamethrower over Fire Blast solely because I prefer accuracy over power. Shadow Ball, again, is another STAB move and will get rid of any Psychic types that switch in to my Roserade.
Miltolic @ Flame Orb | Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe | Modest
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
Miltolic is amazing on my team. I always find that people try to set up massive status changes against me, and Miltolic comes in and walls, then Hazes their changes away. Scald is there as it is my preferred water move thanks to its secondary effects, while Ice Beam serves to give extra coverage in my team. Marvel Scale has come in hand a lot more than I thought, and Miltolic becomes and absolute tank when burned.
Umbreon @ Leftovers | Syncronise
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD | Relaxed
- Heal Bell
- Protect
- Wish
- Toxic
A generic Umbreon set. This really does wonders for my team, and really further supports my Miltolic, as I always try and keep its HP high as I consider it my main Pokémon. Toxic stalling really helps when my team is hard up on members left standing, and Heal Bell keeps status problems at bay, which can be a real pain for my team, unless you're Miltolic.
Togekiss @ Leftovers | Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SpD | Calm
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Aura Sphere
- Air Slash
I love this set on Togekiss. It get's me by a lot of Rock and Steel walls well and blasts through Grass, Bug and Fighting with ease. Thunder Wave really helps to lower the speeds of faster Pokémon.
Ambipom @ Silk Scarf | Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpeD / 252 Spe | Jolly
- Thunder Punch
- Return
- U-Turn
- Low Sweep
Ambipom is definitely an underrated Pokémon in my eyes. Okay, sure, it doesn't have amazing defences, but it has amazing speed and an impressive movepool. Thunder Punch is there as there are no other electric moves in my team anywhere. Low Sweep gets a power boost from Technician and also lowers my opponent's speed. Return gets a boost from silk scarf and U-Turn is there to quickly switch out on arrival of a Fighting type opponent.
Any and all feedback will be taken into account! This is my very first thought out team for UU, and I would greatly like it if people gave me tips and helped me develop as a competitive battler!
