flash games - mark 2

http://armorgames.com/play/4962/bubble-tanks-tower-defense

Exactly what it sounds like if you've played either game in the Bubble Tanks series. If you haven't, the series is all about starting off with a very basic and weak tank that can be upgraded in an absurd number of ways, each unique and powerful. Bubble Tanks Tower Defense (BTTD) takes the concept and applies it to a tower defense game. As you can imagine, it's a damn good game, and has quite a lot of lasting potential.

But be warned, the later levels of this game are only for those who are masters of tower defense games. They borderline on insane and the last levels are truly impossible.

If you haven't played a Bubble Tanks game yet, I recommend starting with the first one and working your way to tower defense.

this post kept me entertained for a good few hours!

i personally prefer 2 to the original, but that may simply be because it has the semblance of being more user-friendly. my only complaint is that the "levels" cap out too quickly; i was enjoying it v much. music is great, quality of music isn't, which is a shame

tower defense as usual is addictive and a waste of time/incredibly fun. thanks for posting this!

so anyway, I've been visiting the adventure section of kongregate abit and since this thread hasn't been touched in about a week, I thought I would share some games I enjoyed. this is going to be like a mini review on each game, as I don't really feel like writing a whole lot right now.

The visitor
http://www.kongregate.com/games/zeebarf/the-visitor

straightfoward point and click game which puts you in the shoes of an alien parasite, who must infect earthly organisms inorder to evolve. fun in a sick sort of way, although it is fairly short. there is a walkthrough if you get stuck or confused though, which is pretty handy.

Alice is dead

http://www.kongregate.com/games/ImpendingRiot/alice-is-dead-ep-1

another point and click game, this time with a wonderland theme. pretty surreal I guess, thought it is to be expected with the theme. I did like the narration though. enjoyable, though it can get a bit tricky so like the visitor there is a walkthrough available.

Mardek series

http://www.kongregate.com/games/Pseudolonewolf/mardek-rpg-chapter-2

I'll start off my talking about about mardek 1, qn rpg which stars a young mardek and his friend duegan who wish to become heroes. tbh, mardek is pretty boring and I honestly didn't like it too much because of that. it's pretty much like a prologue for the series, so only play it for the background knowledge on the characters and the bonuses for loading a mardek 1 save file on chapter 2.

mardek 2 on the other hand, is pretty awesome. interesting battle system, great graphics and the characters aren't half bad either. I see it as both parody and a homage to old school rpgs, so check it out if you're a fan of them.

Ge.ne.sis
http://www.kongregate.com/games/fairypoet/ge-ne-sis

an SRPG which follows the story of 3 youths after they get trapped in an alternate dimension. pretty awesome graphics, decent story and interesting charaters made this a pretty worthwhile play.

Neverending Light
http://www.kongregate.com/games/Jiggmin/neverending-light

a surivival horror game where you get attacked by starnge creatures in a cavern after a guided tour goes wrong. short but I found it creppy and enjoyable. the voice acting was decent although annabel's voice was slightly annoying.

Frantic 2
http://www.kongregate.com/games/polymerrabbit/frantic-2

as a bonus, I'm "reviewing" a shoot em up this time. the interesting thing about this game is that it seems to favor quantity over quality. what I mean by that is the enemy bullet don't travel quickly but it isn't uncommon to find the screen literally filled with the things, esp in the harder difficulties and/or boss fights. nice clean graphices and while the music is decent and appropriate, it just doesn't get the heart pumping if that makes sense. still a good game though.

I know these reviews suck hairy balls but w/e, the games should be enjoyable enough I guess.

Time to show some of my NewGrounds favourites.

Red Moon - This one is pretty old. You're a ninja girl, about ten times faster than anything that attacks you. You can jump, double jump, make all kinds of slashes and a really cool special attack. Despite your main character being extremely flexible, there's some rough spots in there.
Level Up! - Retro style platformer. You're a girl who can level up in anything including jumping and running, as well as collecting jumps. You can learn various skills, too. The dialogue is quite witty. I got to 100% :D
Tuper Tario Tros - Mario and Tetris in one platformer game. Lots of fun, but also very short.
Miami Shark - This one is quite well known. You're a shark swimming in a city river and anything you jump on breaks or blows up, and you can jump out of the water and grab airplanes. very addictive.
Dragon Boy - A Diablo tribute. You're a boy, in company of a mage, and you're raising a dragon in a rather unfriendly city. Go into the portal and fight enemies and monsters of all kinds. Takes a lot of grinding to beat, and has some issues and glitches, but it was also a lot of fun.
Tetraform - Fuck yeah, a space game! You're a planet and there's enemy ships coming towards you, but you can make them crash into each other to defend yourself.
Defend Your Honor - Currently on the frontpage. You go on a quest in the dungeons of the castle to find a golden walrus statue for the walrus king, and inside you actually play some sort of tower defense game! Five different classes, with a pretty clean upgrade system that feels much more relaxing than in most games. Also pretty funny dialogue.
Generic Defense Game - More defense madness. You can play turret or survival. I personally find turret unbearable, and defense is really a lot more fun. You can even customize what kind of level you want to play with which enemies and weapons etc.

okay, I'm trying to remember a flash game that was loads of fun to play

basically, you controlled this sphere, clockwise and counter-clockwise, and your objective was to make a ball (inside the sphere) get to a certain point through a labyrinth full of traps (spikes, electricity).

it had neat little music too, I remember this game was somewhat discussed here (or in the older flash games thread, I dunno) and on #smogon

so yeah if you can remember I'd be thankful for a link

Oh man, Ginormo Sword takes forever, I beat it after a while though...

This Flash Game is very good however: Arcuz

I love this game, however I stopped playing it after a while, but, it's still good for a flash game, you can save your game if you have a mochigames account.

hmm i can see how it's interesting but to be honest it's not so much of a challenge as a chore. i'm sure i could solve all of those puzzles eventually, doesnt seem to be much lateral thinking involved. got bored at level ~15

I'm in the same boat as m0nkfish. I quit at around level 14. It's a fun game with an interesting concept but, as m0nk said, it becomes a chore.
