Mafia vs Village Flavourful Mafia - Game Over - Evil Wins!

Game Over

So it's a 2v2 right? No lynch? Cowbell Lynch? Which one?

Neither. PokeguyNXB is lynched:

Dear PokeguyNXB, you are Claptrap.

“LET’S TEAR THIS PLANET A NEW A**HOLE! YAAAAAAGHHHHH!”

Officially known as a CL4P-TP Steward bot, you are an extremely annoying robot completely lacking in common sense, but you do have a great sense of humor. However, your greatest downfall is your ability to climb stairs.

Each night, you may reply to this host conversation with Night X – “Assist” USER. You will follow your “Minion” around, not doing anything but annoying him/her/it. However, anyone targeting USER will become enraged at your presence and instead target you.

You are allied with Good. You win if Good eliminates Evil.

Tonight, More Cowbell dies (Advance action-placement):

Dear More Cowbell, you are Thomas Bangalter.

“Harder, better, faster, stronger!”

You are one half of the duo known as Daft Punk, who won best album of the year in the 2014 Grammy awards for their album Random Access Memories. Also my favorite musicians ever, just in case that wasn’t obvious.

However, great music doesn’t help in Mafia, so you have no night action. However, if all living vanilla players vote for the same lynch target, an extra vote will be put on he/she/it.

You are allied with Good. You win if Good eliminates Evil.

That leaves a standoff between Walrein:

Dear Walrein, you are Luigi.

“M-M-Maaaariooooo???”

You are Mario’s younger brother, always living in his shadow, even though you’re taller, can Jump higher, run faster, and thinner than your brother. However, you are extremely cowardly, with a priority on self-preservation. Each night, you may reply to this host conversation with Night X – Flee from USER. You will use your speed, agility, and cowardly behavior to run away from USER that night, and if they were going to kill you, it would fail because you are 2fast4them.

You are allied with Good. You win if Good eliminates Evil.

and Spiffy:

Dear Spiffy, you are Freddy Fazbear.

“SKREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAA” –You, shortly before killing a night guard.

You’re an animatronic bear designed to please the crowds of greasy children at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza during the day. However, once the sun goes down, it all changes. You and your pals Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy all come to life at night on free-roam mode, and if they see a human at night they will assume it’s an endoskeleton out of its suit, and will try to stuff the unlucky person into a suit, killing whomever it was.

However, your “cute” appearance during the day, and the Pizzeria’s coverups has convinced many parents to believe that you’re innocent in this matter. Therefore, the first time you’re targeted by an investigate role, your role PM will appear as this:

Dear Spiffy, you are Dovahkiin.

“FUS RO DAH!!!”

You were the most powerful Dragon Slayer of the old times, being able to permanently kill a dragon by absorbing its soul. You foolishly attacked a Greybeard atop the mountain known as the Throat of the World, and said Greybeard froze you in a block of ice, to be preserved for ever.

A long time later, the ice has thawed, and you're here. Your severely limited mental capacities (Ice can do that to a man) has made you assume that Evil = Dragon, so you want to kill them. However, your time in ice has made you lose your ability to shout, so you have no night action. However, if all living vanilla players vote for the same lynch target, an extra vote will be put on he/she/it.

You are allied with Good. You win if Good eliminates Evil.

You are allied with Evil. You win if Evil eliminates Good.

I foresaw a contingency like this, and I've decided that instead of a draw, I'll award Evil with the win.

Sooo... Congratulations to Evil for winning Flavorful Mafia!

I'll be writing a short post game sometime within the next day outlining any questions you may have.

Well mills this game was ridiculously imbalanced in the village's favor, any village which mislynches seven times and misvig's twice and yet still almost wins should be proof of this.

Congratulations on one of the most impressive throws ever villagers!

I wouldn't say Evil played well even if it sounds like salt, Evil made quite a few really terrible mistakes that ought to have cost them the game except no one ever bothered to call them on anything.

Some thoughts before I write a post game:

-Probably should have added some wolves (I thought unblock killer would balance it out some, maybe I was right)

- Haunted Diamond should not have been lynched d1. I misinformed the mafia about some role details (lol I deserve it), making them think that they were safe from Gale's watch.

-No offense to Gale Wing Srock , but I think you actually helped the mafia win, maybe a bit too paranoid, Idk

-I *almost* feel bad for UncleSam . At least he will be preserved in the alive players list lmao

- Here's the Master Sheet, probably seriously under updated (I was more focused on ending the game then filling in 3 usernames per night lmao

Oh... and More Flavorful Mafia is in the works... Now with 80% more balance and 75% less host errors!!!

I wonder if Spiffy still has the logs where early in the game I said we would win and nobody would be impressed.

I'm a little beyond tired of how predictable the salt in this community has become. I had a game plan that worked for exactly the people it fooled, you shouldn't get to talk shit when you die early and can observe matters as an outsider (and possibly with sheet access).

von shut the fuck up, the only reason you won is because:
a) mole role is overpowered
b) there were so many bad players left on the village.

Nobody cares that you won, everyone is just glad this shitfest is over. No offense to sunny, the game design wasn't horrible (although I agree with sam that the village had way too much numbers/kill power) but the play was completely horrendous from all sides including von and spiffy

i mean seriously who the fuck thinks inspect has higher priority than reverse martyr
who the fuck doesnt find it fishy that the reverse martyr wasnt on the vigilante but was instead on the useless tracker

and von if you accuse me of being salty you are a fucking moron, i was in this game for 2 second and couldn't care less about who won after i died the night after i was subbed

Yeah but zorbees you're always salty.

I guess the better play would have been "alright kill me, spiffy can handle this".

I mean I'll sell ocean front property in Arizona if there's a 1% chance I'll get another mislynch out of it.

I didn't know that mole was overpowered in a game with an unrestricted win checker.

Regardless nice job, guys. I didn't really do all that much besides killing the town village leaders and getting caught by the watcher lol, so good.

You f'in destroyed the brains of the town. Imo, you were a big reason for the turn around. As Von said, if DLE had outlived you. Then GG.

Gdi, only if pokeguy was asked to decoy DLE that night. @_@

Mole role in this game possibly wasn't overpowered, but was still poorly designed. You basically have two circumstances:

1. Mole is never inspected.

I cannot see a single fucking way that the mafia wins the game in this circumstance barring infinitely horrible plays by the village.

2. Mole is inspected.

The mafia is probably favored just because mole is an insane role, but smart village play still may have found him out. I'd still give the mafia most of the chances to win in this circumstance.

Lets say the mafia has an 80% chance to win if the mole is inspected, and a 5% (I'm being generous in my opinion) chance to win if not. This basically means that the whole game is largely irrelevant outside of the WC Checker's choice of night actions. Hell, the mafia might even randkill him early on and not allow him a chance to check their mole.

The reason I say it probably wasn't overpowered was because the cards were so stacked in the village's favor without it, that it served as somewhat of a balancing tool. Although not really.

The reason mole roles have lost popularity over the years on Smogon is because of the variance that is described above. This game was probably an extreme example. But mole roles are either entirely useless (not checked/inspected/whatever), or are usually pretty gamebreaking (when they are checked). I think a lot of it is due to the "follow the inspector" culture that has developed over the years, as well as the deterioration of the playerbase (higher level players are more likely to sniff out a mole even if he is clean via inspect). Also, hosts have tended to make the mole role work on everything. I think a decent balance for a mole would be, for example, having inspects be fooled, but question askers not fooled. You still run into variance issues, like what happens if the question asker dies early, but I think it's a step in the right direction.

I have a game currently on the back burner that I feel solves some of the issues that I said above. I'm going to post about it in OSI in a minute.
