FTP Software

SmartFTP (Windows, Free/Paid)
A popular FTP client, which is one of the best used. Allows multiple connections.
CuteFTP (Windows, Trial Paid)
A nice FTP client for those who prefer looks.
CrystalFTP (Windows, Paid)
A commercial FTP software which has all the features one could ask for.

Bulletproof FTP

BulletProof FTP (Windows/MacOS, Trial/Pay)

Simple to use and very light in size FTP client. I love Bulletproof ever since I've had it and it is worth its price. It's very easy to navigate through, so people new to FTP download/uploads will get the hang of things quite fast. However, if you can, find an older version of the software. I say this because the new layout is creepy. The BP creators also sell server setup software, which is only for Windows, and is also Trial/Pay.

Transmit (Mac OS X, trial/paid)

Very nice piece of equipment. Can upload multiple files at once and has windows for both "Your stuff" and "their stuff" as the program calls it. I personally had no issues connecting to my server. Offers a little preview drawer, too. Runs $30. Sessions/Favorites limited after 15 day trial.

http://cyberduck.ch (sorry I'm not a vbulletin vet) Cyberduck for Mac OS X is a pretty good open source Java-based FTP client.

All this FTP reminds me of a code project I have to do...

File Transfer Protocol. If you buy a domain and have your scripts ready you can transfer them from your computer to your domain.

I use NcFTP for the old school feel and the fact that you don't really need a good FTP, just something that can actually transfer files and then they're all the same except through convenience. Plus, I've been using it for ages.

By far the best FTP program is FlashFXP

http://www.flashfxp.com/

There are so many hidden features to customize tranfers between servers/home PC's that basically anything is possible. FlashFXP is recommended for higher-end FTP'ing.
