Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Due to some miscalculations, I picked more battles to ref than I can manage with the 2-3 hours of free time I have every day. So, to make sure no one has to wait too much (I am looking at at least 1 daily update)/get subrefs, flavor will be cut down until my workload becomes more...manageable.
I apologize and feel free to get a subref if these conditions don't satisfy you.
LupusAter sends out Weavile to his raft, while Readiamond goes with a long-range pokemon, Ninetales. Also drought.
The battle starts with Skadi creating 4 clones with Double Team. I wonder why, as you can’t maintain them if you intend to jump (you will something to run/swim/whatever fast to create such an illusion). Maybe he will stay defensive while Lupus moves the raft? We’ll see.
Meanwhile, Sunshine starts to attack with Flamethrower, hitting a clone.
Drought: 10 energy
Weavile: Double Team: 4 clones for 16 energy
Ninetales: Flamethrower for 6 energy
Clone RNG: 4/5 (clone)
Action 2
Remember how I said that jumping would make Weavile lose clones? Well it did. It managed to jump to the center of Rediamond’s raft successfully.
On the other side, Sunshine Fire Blasts. ouch.
Weavile: Agility to Jump: 7 energy.
Arrives at Raft safely. Since Weavile is ridiculously fast and athletic (with a positive nature), he arrives at the center next to Ninetales). But as I said, no clones.
Ninetales: Fire Blast: 12 + 3 + 3 = 18*1.5 = 27 damage for 7 energy
Crit: 2/16 (no)
Hit: 39 (yes)
Burn: 10/10 (no)
Action 3
Skadi goes offensive and Slashes sunshine with the power of the Night (all very ironic). Ninetales remains on the same spot, as a slash move isn’t a punch move, you know? Speaking of Sunshine, she goes with Flamethrower
Weavile: Night Slash: 7 + 3 + 3 = 13 damage for 4 energy
Crit: 4/8 (no)
Ninetales isn’t pushed back, since it is a slash move and all
It really jumped 100 feet? Red was briefly stunned by the almost unreal show of agility before realizing it changed nothing at all. Ninetales, for the most part, was a one trick pony. But she could still mess with her foes.
"Start off by using Flame Burst on Skadi/a Skadi clone's feet, scattering embers around the raft. I have a guess that she and her clones couldn't avoid them in such close quarters, possibly killing any further clones when the super effective fire boosted by the sunlight comes into contact with their feet. After that, go for the usual Fire Blast and Flamethrower."
Open with a Faint Attack, and then Quick Attack, to try and get her down the raft. Finish the round with a Night Slash if she's still on the raft, or another Faint Attack to knock her down.
Skadi attempts to throw Sunshine out of the raft in an attempt to live a bit more. To do so she starts with a faint attack that pushes the Ninetales a bit, but not enough to put her in imediate danger. Sunshine seizes the opportunity to fire a Fire Blast point blank.
Weavile: Faint Attack: 6 + 3 + 3 = 12 damage for 3 energy
Crit:
Ninetales gets closer to the edge (it isn't a slash, so it pushes, but not as far as a punch)
Ninetales: Fire Blast: 12 + 3 + 3 = 18*1.5 = 27 damage for 7 energy
Crit: 13/16
Burn: 3/10
Hit: 45/100
Action 2
Skadi tries again, this time with Quick Attack. But even with the critical hit, it went as far as the edge, putting the Ninetales in danger...but not enough danger to make Sunshine focus on anything other than BLOOD AND REVENGE AND DEATH and other mean stuff. She uses Flamethrower and finishes Skadi off.
Weavile: Quick Attack: 4 + 3 + 3= 10 damage for 3 energy
Crit: 1/16 (yes)
Ninetales is on the edge farther from Lupus's raft! Any further attack will throw it out!
Go out, Fafnir the Croconaw, or, better yet, Fafnir the Feraligatr!
Feraligatr(*) [Fafnir] (M) Nature: Lonely Type: Water:Water STAB; Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious. Abilities: Torrent: (Innate)When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33%, the base damage of any water attack is increased by two (2). (eg Water Pulse goes from 6 to 8, Hydro Pump from 12 to 14) Sheer Force: (Can Be Enabled)(DW locked)This Pokemon can energize all its attacks with secondary effect chances less than 100%. When Enabled, the Base Attack Power of every move with an effect chance less than 100% increases by two (2), but they will never have a secondary effect.
Red simply smiles. He has no intention of winning this particular exchange, but he can sure weaken his foe for someone else to clean up.
"Alright, go for a will-o-wisp to burn our opponent. Then use SolarBeam and Energy Ball. If it's ever raining at the start of your action, deactivate Drought and move all actions back."
Now it's time to get sneaky. Get underwater as soon as you can, and unleash a Sheer Force-boosted Waterfall on the underside of the raft, to knock Ninetales into the water. After that, Rain Dance and another Waterfall, but make sure you keep her into the water.
Now facing Fafnir, Sunshine is forced to go for a more strategic approach, which she does with Will-o-Wisp, which burns the Feraligatr.
In the other hand, Fafnir is also a strategic fella. He jumps on the water and by using the currents in his favor, he strikes the raft with the power of a a waterfall, knocking the ninetales out.
Ninetales: Will-o-Wisp for 6 energy
Hit: 67/100
Feraligatr was burned!
Feraligator: Waterfall for 5 energy
Ninetales was thrown out of the raft!
-2hp due to burn
Action 2
Despite being on the water, Sunshine continues to fight, aiming a Solarbeam at her opponent. Unfortunately she couldn't focus, and missed the attack.
Fafnir seized the opportunity and made it rain.
Ninetales: Solarbeam for 8 energy - miss
Hit despite water: 95/100 (miss)
Feraligator: Rain Dance for 9 energy
Its raining men!
-2hp due to burn
Action 3
After ignoring a poorly worded substitution, Sunshine sticks with her original plan and tries her hand now with Energy Ball, which connects. But Fafnir has the upper hand here and even if the burn, he managed to control the water currents, using them to impulse him to strike the Ninetales, once again with the power of a Waterfall.
Ninetales: Energy Ball (deactivate drought? don't you mean activate drought? oh well, poor wording = poor wording, so no substitution here): 8*1.5 = 12 damage for 6 energy
Hit despite water: 29/100 (yes)
Crit: 5/16 (no)
Feraligatr: Waterfall: 8 + 3 - 3 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 3= 17*1.5 = 25.5 (26) damage for 5 energy.
Crit: 3/16 (no)
-2hp due to burn
Both are on the water!
ROUND 9 END
Both are on the water SWIMMING FOR THEIR LIVES BWAHAHAHAH
36 hours has passed and Lupus didn't post (also, his last activity was august 13th), so to save us time I'll post counters. If Rediamond prefers to give an 24h extension until tomorrow (when twice the DQ interval will pass, and that is my personal limit) and Lupus posts on the meanwhile, you can ignore this.
If not:
Counters:
Rediamond: 3TC (since it got to Lupus's 4th pokemon, I consider this a 4vs4 singles)
Porygon2: 1EC, 2MC, 1DC
Scyther: 1EC, 2MC, 1DC, 2KOC
Ninetales: 3MC, 1DC, 1KOC
LupusAter (since a lot of the battle was done, I didn't think it was fair to give no counters. BUT whoever approves of this has the final saying here): 3TC
Braviary: 2MC, 1DC, 1KOC
Electivire: 2MC, 1DC, 1KOC
Weavile: 2MC, 1DC
Feraligatr: 3MC
Frosty: 3RT (the total of the battle is 5RT, as we had 5 KOs. I reffed 3 of them, so I get 3)
Fafnir is determined to keep Sunshine on the water, but the Ninetales seems prepared to continue to fight outside her element just to make sure the next pokemon will have an easier job. Let's see how that pans out.
Sunshine starts the set-up with Drought, making it sunny and unconfortable. dear lord.
But Fafnir is unaffected and strikes Sunshine with the Sheer Power of a Waterfall. The heat made the attack a bit weaker, but it still packs a punch.
Ninetales: Drought for 9 energy
Feraligatr: Sheer Force Waterfall: 8 + 3 - 3 + 4 - 2 = 10*1.5 = 15 damage for 5 energy
Crit: 14/16 (no)
-2hp due to burn
Action 2
Fafnir is sensing that Sunshine will do something nasty, so he goes with a pre-emptive attack with Aqua Jet. Maybe the choice of using a weaker attack wasn't that good...maybe not.
Maybe not is the correct answer, as Sunshine managed to, despite being on the water swimming for her life, get inside Fafnir mind and, while ignoring his constants thoughts of what to eat, disable waterfall.
Feraligator: Aqua Jet: 4 + 3 - 3 + 4 - 2 = 6*1.5 = 9 damage for 2 energy
Crit: 9/16 (no)
-2hp due to burn
Ninetales: Disable for 7 energy
Hit despite water: 26/100 (yes)
Waterfall was disabled!
Action 3
Lucky Sunshine is Lucky as she managed to once again aim properly and hit Fafnir with an intense SolarBeam.
KAPOW
Fafnir probably still doesn't know what hit him. His mind is so wacko that he couldn't even remember what to do.
And everything seems to be going Sunshine's way. Which means that....
yup yup. Here it comes...theeeee
RAPIDS!
FWOOOSH
And thanks to Drought Sunshine is still alive. Barely.
Ninetales: Solarbeam: 12*1.5 = 18 damage for 8 energy
Hit despite Water: 35/100 (yes)
Crit: 11/16 (no)
Feraligator: tries to waterfall but fails for 5 energy
-2hp due to burn
Rapids: 6/100 (whoops)
Hit: 35/100 (double whoops)
Damage: vs Feraligatr: 10-3 (drought)*0.67 = 4.69 (5) damage
vs Ninetales: 10 - 3 (it is a water move for all effects, including drought)*1.5 = 10.5 (11) damage
Ninetales has fainted!
ROUND 10 END
Both are still on the water SWIMMING FOR THEIR LIVES BWAHAHAHAH
Unfortunate how water conducts electricity. Isn't it?
Stay on the raft. If he wants us harmed, he'll have to come out and get us.
Thunderbolt the water as close to Feraligatr as possible, or Feraligatr himself if he has to get out. After that, Shadow Ball through the raft at Feraligatr, and Thunderbolt with the same aim. Get out or hide? Either way, you die.
