...Who the fuck was trying to do the whole "hot girls in your area" schtick on the damn Smogon forums? I understand the fake Adderall salesman — it's a competitive gaming forum, after all — but this is very obviously not the place to peddle your dubiously-sourced "Authentic Damsels."
I have a deep cut for this short-lived one I witnessed that stuck with me.

Two bots collided in this case.
This guy was patient, he answered real questions and edited in casino links in the quotes a month later.
Surprisingly these guys actually started having Pokemon related descriptions.
Another bot that waited a week to edit in a link within an AI slop post.
Finally, this Warsaw bot actually went the distance and signed up for a tournament:

Lastly this one just stuck out to me catching it live online.
a quick note from a mod guy who has to clean a lot of spambots: if an account initially looks mons related then starts posting about vk links that offer you a portable nuke or whatever the fuck, chances are the original poster got hacked and you are seeing a different user (or rather machine) do the scamposting

I don't know if this exactly counts as a spambot (EDIT: he is definitely a spambot, see below) because I could believe there is a real human behind these posts, but Usachmasn88 has a sloppy paragraph in his About Me about Final Fantasy and a car advertisement with a big image of a car but no obvious links. I'm interested to hear if you're working on playing the long con or something here or how much your job involves Smogon.
mid-post EDIT: I figured out what his game was and so I want to raise more awareness around how these spammers are getting subtler with their tactics.
First off, the big car image is actually a hyperlink to a car website. Honestly I'm not sure how many people actually use images to make links lately but it's so rare that I didn't suspect it initially.
Secondly, what Usachmasn88 is doing here is quoting posts with responses, and then editing the quotes later on to insert new original dialogue to mention their spam links. Compare the following:
Well, there was less of an effort to fit in the latter quote.
It's similar to one of the earlier spambot examples but with attempts to find relevant posts with context rather than generic casino links in mons threads. Pretty spooky.
