[OVERVIEW]

Garbodor is one of NU's most reliable Spikes setters thanks to its workable bulk, its very useful defensive typing, and its power that allows it to forcibly bypass Xatu. Furthermore, Garbodor's pure Poison typing and above average defensive stats mean it can function as a check to some of NU's most threatening Pokemon in Passimian and Comfey. A wide offensive movepool combined with workable base 95 Attack lets Garbodor threaten Xatu with a STAB Gunk Shot while threatening Pokemon such as Seismitoad and Silvally-Steel with Seed Bomb and Stomping Tantrum. In addition, a utility movepool including Spikes and Toxic Spikes and options such as Explosion and Pain Split gives Garbodor the ability to easily set up entry hazards against an enemy team and either keep them up or keep itself healthy. However, while Gunk Shot is fairly powerful, Garbodor's only good Attack means that it struggles to threaten Pokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix, even with its coverage options. Furthermore, while its bulk is good enough to take resisted hits, Garbodor finds itself taking significant damage from neutral attacks, and it finds itself threatened by coverage moves, taking very heavy damage from Passimian's Earthquake and Whimsicott's Psychic.

Moves
========

Gunk Shot lets Garbodor always 2HKO Xatu with either a Toxic Plate or an Adamant nature, as well as threaten Pokemon such as Comfey and Delphox. Spikes and Toxic Spikes wear down opposing Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team, and Garbodor is a good user of the moves thanks to its great defensive typing and ability to bypass Xatu. Stomping Tantrum can be used if Toxic Spikes is not needed, is Garbodor's hardest-hitting move against Steelix and Klinklang, and threatens opposing Garbodor. Alternatively, Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor, which can be very beneficial for its team. Explosion prevents the opponent from using Defog or Rapid Spin to remove entry hazards, provided that Garbodor is faster than the enemy, while also dealing very heavy damage. Pain Split can be used in the last moveslot to keep Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match, preventing it from being worn down too much, and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and an Adamant nature maximize Garbodor's power, enabling it to 2HKO Xatu with Gunk Shot, as well as hit targets such as Decidueye and Vaporeon for heavy damage. Maximum Speed is needed to outrun Xatu as well as Pokemon such as Incineroar. A Jolly nature can be used with Toxic Plate to maintain the 2HKO on Xatu and outrun standard Comfey and maximum Speed Decidueye. If using an Adamant nature, Black Sludge can be used to give Garbodor useful recovery, significantly increasing its longevity, while a Rocky Helmet can be used to damage any Pokemon making contact with it, such as Passimian using U-turn. Toxic Plate can be run with an Adamant nature if being able to 2HKO Blastoise after Stealth Rock is needed. Aftermath is used to deal recoil damage to the foe if they KO Garbodor with a contact move, such as Comfey's Draining Kiss or Passimian's Knock Off.

Usage Tips
========

Garbodor is often better off using Gunk Shot if the opponent has a Xatu, as it can immediately bounce back any Spikes Garbodor uses if it switches in correctly. Gunk Shot deals heavy damage to most Pokemon that do not resist it and can be used to buy a turn to use Spikes, for example against Vaporeon, which is often forced to Wish if it switches into Gunk Shot. Garbodor should be brought in often against Grass-types such as Vileplume, as the more turns it has to set up Spikes, the more Garbodor can support its team. Be careful of coverage moves such as Earthquake from Passimian and status moves such as Sleep Powder from Vileplume, as they can leave Garbodor crippled for the rest of a match. Explosion should be used when the opponent is predicted to use either Defog or Rapid Spin, as it stops them from removing entry hazards while also dealing heavy damage. If it's running the correct coverage, an enemy such as Silvally-Steel or Blastoise using Defog or Rapid Spin can often be a free turn for Garbodor to attack.

Team Options
========

Garbodor generally needs teammates to take on enemy Ground-types for it, so Pokemon such as Sceptile, Alolan Exeggutor, and Seismitoad can make good teammates. Magic Bounce and Rapid Spin support from Pokemon such as Xatu, Dhelmise, and Blastoise allows Garbodor to keep its Spikes up even if its team requires enemy hazards removed. Pokemon such as Klinklang, Comfey, and Passimian all appreciate the entry hazard support that Garbodor provides, which can easily wear down pokemon such as Steelix and Vileplume for them. Wallbreakers such as Magmortar and Alolan Exeggutor also benefit from Garbodor's Spikes support thanks to the number of switches they force. Stealth Rock users such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Diancie are good teammates, building on the hazard pressure that Garbodor provides. Rhydon and Diancie are especially good options, as they provide another method to pressure Xatu. Pokemon such as Heliolisk and Incineroar are able to beat Golbat and Rotom for Garbodor, Pokemon that it otherwise struggles with.

Moves
========

Gunk Shot pressures Xatu, 2HKOing it if it poisons it, and OHKOes Comfey, although its lacking PP and low accuracy make it unreliable to spam. Spikes wears down enemy Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team, and Garbodor has the typing and defensive stats to come in multiple times to set them, while it has the power to bypass Xatu, a common entry hazard control option. Toxic Spikes gives Garbodor an additional move with which to support its team, easily and quickly wearing down defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Rhydon, and Diancie for Garbodor's team. Alternatively, Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor. Pain Split keeps Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match, preventing it from being worn down too much, and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and 200 Special Defense EVs with a Careful nature give Garbodor good special bulk, letting it take only 33% from Sceptile's Leaf Storm and easily wall Comfey. 56 Speed EVs let Garbodor outrun maximum Speed base 50s such as Diancie, as well as defensive Blastoise. Black Sludge keeps Garbodor healthy, mitigating chip damage taken from Stealth Rock and preventing it from being worn down as easily. Aftermath causes any Pokemon that KOes Garbodor with a contact move to take significant recoil damage. Rocky Helmet can be used to punish any opponent that makes contact with Garbodor, notably easily wearing down enemy Comfey and punishing U-turns from Pokemon such as Passimian. A physically defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe can also be used to better take on Pokemon such as Passimian. However, this leaves Garbodor significantly more vulnerable to Sceptile, and Garbodor remains vulnerable to the coverage moves many physical threats carry.

Usage Tips
========

If facing Xatu, don't immediately try to set up Spikes, as an opponent will often try to reflect them or scout which Garbodor set is being run by switching into it. Better options are to use Gunk Shot to damage Xatu or switch out to a teammate that can punish it such as Sneasel or Heliolisk. When against an opponent without Xatu, it is often helpful to immediately set up entry hazards, as it will force the opponent to quickly remove them, or they will consistently take significant damage. Garbodor should generally be brought in against attacks it resists, such as Comfey's Draining Kiss and Passimian's Close Combat, although it should be wary of coverage moves, such as Passimian's Earthquake. Prioritize Spikes over Toxic Spikes if the opponent has a grounded Poison-type such as Vileplume, and generally try to prioritize Toxic Spikes if the opponent's hazard remover is vulnerable to Toxic Spikes or if the opponent has a Pokemon such as Slowbro or Dhelmise that needs to be poisoned. Aftermath can be used to deal significant damage to the opponent that KOes Garbodor, so try to keep Garbodor around for the right time once it gets to low HP.

Team Options
========

Teammates such as Sneasel, Heliolisk, and Incineroar that can take on Xatu for Garbodor are helpful, with the former being able to Pursuit trap Xatu, potentially removing it from the game. Garbodor generally needs teammates to take on enemy Ground-types for it, so Pokemon such as Sceptile, Decidueye, and Seismitoad can make good teammates. Entry hazard removal that keeps Garbodor's Spikes up is preferred, so Pokemon such as Xatu, Blastoise, and Dhelmise are excellent teammates. Toxic Spikes support is greatly appreciated by Delphox, Rotom, and Vaporeon, as well as any Pokemon with answers weak to poison or some way of staying on the field for a long time. Wallbreakers and cleaners such as Magmortar, Comfey, and Passimian appreciate Garbodor's support, being able to either rack up Spikes damage by forcing switches or appreciating that Spikes wears down their answers. Stealth Rock users such as Diancie, Druddigon, and Rhydon that can get Stealth Rock up against Xatu are good teammates, as Stealth Rock support can help wear it down. Heliolisk and Incineroar are exceptional teammates, as they can take on Golbat and Rotom, which easily Defog on Garbodor and resist Gunk Shot.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Poisonium Z can be used on the offensive set to guarantee a hit against Xatu while still offering an easy 2HKO against it. However, a team's Z-Crystal is often better spent elsewhere. Weak Armor can be used to give Garbodor a Speed boost when it is hit, letting it potentially set more entry hazards, but the Defense drop it incurs means it is far less reliable as a check to enemy Fighting-types.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Steelix, Rhydon, and Seismitoad all resist Gunk Shot and threaten to heavily damage Garbodor with Earthquake. Steelix is especially worth mention, as it is immune to Gunk Shot, and it is not hit hard by any of Garbodor's other moves.

**Xatu**: While Garbodor can 2HKO Xatu with Gunk Shot, its Magic Bounce can still reflect Garbodor's Spikes, nullifying a turn and hurting Garbodor's team.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: Golbat and Rotom take little damage from any move Garbodor can use against them, are immune to Spikes, and can easily Defog away Spikes, making them exceptional answers to Garbodor. Blastoise and Silvally-Steel are vulnerable to Gunk Shot and Stomping Tantrum respectively but can quickly remove the Spikes that Garbodor sets.

**Super Effective Coverage**: Pokemon such as Passimian and Dhelmise can deal very heavy damage to Garbodor with coverage moves such as Earthquake.

  • Garbodor is one of NU's most reliable Spike setters thanks to good bulk, a very useful defensive typing, and enough offensive power to forcibly bypass Xatu.
  • A very unique any adjective other than unique. 'useful' is what I would go with here pure Poison typing combined with above average defensive stats means Garbodor can function as a check to some of NU's most threatening pokemon in Passimian and Comfey.
  • A very wide Offensive movepool combined with workable base 95 Attack lets Garbodor threaten Xatu with a STAB Gunk Shot, while threatening Pokemon such as Seismitoad and Silvally-Steel with Seed Bomb and Stomping Tantrum respectively.
  • Spikes and Toxic Spikes combined with useful options such as Explosion and Pain Split gives Garbodor the ability to easily set up hazards against an enemy team if it can predict correctly, and thanks to Explosion, it can keep them up. I have no idea what relevance Pain Split has to the rest of this section, especially because you never really elaborate on it at all. I also don't see how it having Spikes and Toxic Spikes actually improves its ability to set them? Like what about Garbodor gives it opportunities to set hazards?
  • However, while Gunk Shot is fairly powerful, only good attack means that Garbodor struggles to threaten Pokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix. mention how it fails to meaningfully threaten them even with its coverage options. could also mention Gunk Shot's shaky accuracy making it unreliable
  • Thanks to its only passable bulk, Garbodor finds itself taking significant damage from neutral attacks, and it finds itself threatened by enemy coverage moves, taking very heavy damage from Passimian's Earthquake.

I think Toxic Spikes are pretty hard to justify over Stomping Tantrum right now. Vileplume is common as hell, and most entry hazard removal doesn't care about them all too much. I also don't see much reason to use Pain Split on this set, but if you disagree heavily, then feel free to keep it as is.

  • Gunk Shot is Garbodor's main STAB move, letting it 2HKO Xatu with either a Jolly Nature and Toxic Plate, or with an Adamant Nature, as well as threatening pokemon such as Comfey and Delphox, however it has lackluster accuracy and low PP meaning what?.
  • Spikes wears down enemy Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team. something about why Garbodor is a good Spikes setter would work well here
  • Toxic Spikes gives Garbodor an additional move with which to support its team, easily and quickly wearing down defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Rhydon, and Diancie for Garbodor's team. move under Stomping Tantrum bullet
  • Stomping Tantrum can be used if Toxic Spikes is not needed, and is Garbodor's hardest hitting move against Silvally-Steel and Klinklang, while also threatening enemy Garbodor. it's also Garbodor's only way of hitting Steelix for anything meaningful
  • Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor, which can be very beneficial for Garbodor's team.
  • Explosion can be used to prevent the opponent from using Defog or Rapid Spin, provided that Garbodor is faster than the enemy while also dealing very heavy damage.
  • Pain Split can be used to keep Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match if it is worn down too much, and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier.

  • Maximum Attack and Speed investment are needed for Garbodor to outrun and threaten Pokemon such as Xatu.
  • A Jolly nature can be used with a Toxic Plate to enable Gunk Shot to 2HKO Xatu, while outrunning pokemon such as Comfey and maximum speed Decidueye.
  • An Adamant Nature does not outrun Comfey and Decidueye, but still manages to outrun Xatu, and allows Gunk Shot to 2HKO Xatu without needing Toxic Plate, freeing up Garbodor to run Black Sludge or Rocky Helmet. However, a Toxic Plate can be run with an Adamant Nature if being able to 2HKO Blastoise after Stealth Rock is needed. I mean you can outspeed Comfey depending on what set it's running. Many only creep for Jolly Incineroar, and Adamant is definitely enough to outpace that while still dedicating some EVs into HP with significant Speed creep on Garbodor's part.
  • Aftermath is used to deal recoil damage to the opponent if they KO Garbodor with a contact move, for example Comfey KOing with Draining Kiss, or Passimian KOing Garbodor with Knock Off.
Usage Tips
========

  • Garbodor is often better off using Gunk Shot if the enemy has a living Xatu, as Xatu can immediately bounce back any Spikes it uses if it switches in on Garbodor correctly.
  • Gunk Shot deals heavy damage to most pokemon that do not resist it, and can be used to buy a turn to use Spikes, for example against a Vaporeon which is often forced to Wish if it switches into Gunk Shot. ] why is this bracket here
  • Garbodor should be brought in often against Grass Types such as Vileplume, as the more turns it has to set up spikes, the more effective it is.
  • Be careful of coverage moves such as Earthquake from Passimian and of status moves such as Sleep Powder from Vileplume, as they can leave Garbodor crippled for the rest of a match.
  • An enemy using Defog or Rapid Spin can often be a free turn for Garbodor to attack them, so if running the correct coverage aim to take advantage of Pokemon such as Silvally-Steel defogging.
  • when to use Explosion would be a good bullet here, same with Pain Split given this is an offensive Pokemon with a move generally seen on fat shit
Team Options

  • Garbodor generally needs teammates to take on enemy Ground Types for it, so Pokemon such as Sceptile, Vanilluxe, and and Seismitoad can make good teammates.
  • Friendly Hazard Control that keeps Garbodor's Spikes up such as Xatu, Dhelmise, and Blastoise are good teammates, allowing Garbodor to keep its Spikes up even if its team requires enemy hazards removed.
  • Pokemon such as Klinklang, Comfey, and Passimian all appreciate the entry hazard support that Garbodor provides. why do they? I'd also mention at least one wallbreaker here, since Spikes makes breaking a lot easier.
  • Friendly Stealth Rock users such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Diancie are good teammates, building on the hazard pressure that Garbodor provides. Rhydon and Diancie are especially good teammates, as they provide another method to pressure Xatu.
  • Pokemon that beat common forms of removal like Golbat and Rotom that can really easily take on Garbodor

Other Options
=============

  • A defensive set running Gunk Shot / Spikes / Toxic Spikes / Pain Split can be a good option for teams that have a reliable way to remove Xatu, such as Sneasel, however most teams appreciate the greater reliability of offensive sets. specially defensive is fine too, mention both as possibilities if you wanna run fat Garbodor
  • Weak Armor can be used to give Garbodor a speed boost when it is hit, letting it potentially get off more entry hazards, but the decrease in bulk means it is far less reliable as a check to enemy Fighting-types.
  • Poisonium-Z can be used on the Offensive set to guarantee a hit against Xatu, while still offering an easy 2HKO against it, however a team's z-move is often better spent elsewhere. move this above Weak Armor; I've used this quite a bit, and it's actually pretty good due to its reliability against Xatu

**Ground-Types**: Ground Types such as Steelix, Rhydon, and Seismitoad all resist Gunk Shot, and threaten to heavily damage Garbodor with Earthquake. Steelix is especially worth mention, as it is immune to Gunk Shot, and is not hit hard by any of Garbodor's other moves.

**Super Effective Coverage**: Pokemon such as Passimian and Dhelmise can deal very heavy damage to Garbodor with coverage such as Earthquake.

**Xatu**: While Garbodor can 2HKO Xatu with Gunk Shot, its Magic Bounce can still reflect Garbodor's Spikes, nullifying a turn, and hurting Garbodor's team. move this above the super effective coverage bullet

a bullet for stuff like golbat and rotom that can super easily remove hazards vs garbodor, with other removers like blastoise and steelvally also being worth mentioning.

Spikes wears down enemy Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team, and Garbodor is a good user of the move thanks to its great defensive typing, and ability to bypass Xatu, which other Spikesetters may not necessarily be able to do. I mean the other good Spikes users, Accelgor Mega Glalie and Omastar all bypass Xatu fairly easily. Explosion can be used to prevent the opponent from using Defog or Rapid Spin, provided that Garbodor is faster than the enemy while also dealing very heavy damage. Stomping Tantrum can be used if Toxic Spikes is not needed, and is Garbodor's hardest hitting move against Silvally-Steel Kind of a nitpick, but make this mention Steelix > Silvally-Steel. and Klinklang, while also threatening enemy Garbodor. Set Details

Maximum Attack and Speed investment are needed for Garbodor to outrun and threaten Pokemon such as Xatu. I'd provide a different example here especially since Garbodor needs far from max Speed to outspeed Xatu. Perhaps Seismitoad and Decidueye are better examples. A Jolly nature can be used with a Toxic Plate to enable Gunk Shot to 2HKO Xatu, while outrunning pokemon such as Comfey and maximum speed Decidueye. An Adamant Nature does not outrun Decidueye, but still manages to outrun Xatu, and allows Gunk Shot to 2HKO Xatu without needing Toxic Plate, freeing up Garbodor to run Black Sludge or Rocky Helmet. Moves
========

Gunk Shot is Garbodor's main STAB move, damaging Xatu significantly, while 2hkoing it if Gunk Shot poisons Xatu, as well as OHKOing Comfey, and being Garbodor's strongest move in general, although its lacking pp and low accuracy can lead to it running out. Spikes wears down enemy Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team, and Garbodor has the typing, defensive stats, and power to come in multiple times to set them, while bypassing Xatu, a common Hazard Control option. Toxic Spikes gives Garbodor an additional move with which to support its team, easily and quickly wearing down defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Rhydon, and Diancie for Garbodor's team. Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor, which can be very beneficial for Garbodor's team. Pain Split can be used to keep Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match if it is worn down too much, and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier.

Maximum HP and 200 Special Defense EVs with a Careful nature give Garbodor good special bulk, letting it take only 33% from a Sceptile's Leaf Storm, and letting it easily wall Comfey. 56 Speed EVs let Garbodor outrun max speed base 50s such as Diancie, as well as defensive Blastoise. Black Sludge keeps Garbodor healthy, mitigating chip damage taken from Stealth Rock, and preventing it from being worn down. Rocky Helmet can be used to punish any opponent that makes contact with Garbodor, notably easily wearing down enemy Comfey, and punishing U-turns from pokemon such as Passimian. A Physically defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe can also be used to better take on pokemon such as Passimian, however this leaves Garbodor significantly more vulnerable to Sceptile, and Garbodor remains vulnerable to the coverage moves many physical threats carry.

Usage Tips
========

If facing an enemy Xatu, don't immediately try to set up spikes, as an opponent will often try to reflect them, or scout which Garbodor set is being run by switching into it. A better option is to either use Gunk Shot to damage it, or switch out to a teammate that can punish Xatu such as Sneasel or Heliolisk. Against an opponent without proactive hazard control, it is often helpful to immediately set up hazards, as it will force the opponent to quickly remove them, or take significant damage. Garbodor should generally be brought in against attacks it resists, such as Comfey's Draining Kiss, or Passimian's Close combat, although be wary of coverage moves, such as Passimian's Earthquake. Prioritize Spikes over Toxic Spikes if the opponent has a grounded poison such as?, and generally try to prioritize Toxic Spikes if the opponent's hazard removal is vulnerable to Toxic Spikes, or if the opponent has a pokemon that needs to be Poisoned soon like? (Slowbro is a fantastic mention here). Aftermath can be used to deal significant damage to the opponent that KOs Garbodor, try to keep Garbodor around for the right time once it gets to low HP.

Teammates that can take on Xatu for Garbodor are helpful, some examples are Sneasel, Heliolisk and Incineroar, with the former being able to Pursuit trap Xatu, potentially removing it from the game. Garbodor generally needs teammates to take on enemy Ground Types for it, so Pokemon such as Sceptile, Decidueye, and and Seismitoad can make good teammates. Friendly Hazard Removal should be chosen to keep up Garbodor's Spikes, so Pokemon such as Xatu, Blastoise, and Dhelmise are excellent teammates. Toxic Spikes support is greatly appreciated by Delphox, Rotom, and Vaporeon, or any pokemon whose answers are weak to Toxic Damage, or has some way of staying on the field for a long time. Wallbreakers and sweepers such as Comfey, Passimian, and Magmortar all appreciate Garbodor's support, being able to either rack up spikes damage by forcing switches, or appreciating that Spikes can wear down their answers. Stealth Rock users that can get Stealth Rock up against Xatu are good teammates, as Stealth Rock support from Rhydon, Steelix or Diancie can help to wear it down. Pokemon to beat Golbat and Rotom are exceptional teammates, as they are able to Defog on Garbodor while resisting Gunk Shot ; some examples include Heliolisk and Incineroar.

**Xatu**: While Garbodor can 2HKO Xatu with Gunk Shot, its Magic Bounce can still reflect Garbodor's Spikes, nullifying a turn, and hurting Garbodor's team.

**Hazard Removal**: Golbat and Rotom take little damage from any move Garbodor can use against them, are immune to Spikes, and can easily Defog away Spikes, making them exceptional answers to Garbodor. Blastoise and Silvally-Steel are vulnerable to Gunk Shot and Stomping Tantrum, but can quickly remove the Spikes that Garbodor sets.

**Super Effective Coverage**: Pokemon such as Passimian and Dhelmise can deal very heavy damage to Garbodor with coverage such as Earthquake.

[OVERVIEW]

Garbodor is one of NU's most reliable Spike setters thanks to good bulk, a very useful defensive typing, and enough offensive power to forcibly bypass Xatu. Its pure Poison typing and above average defensive stats means allows Garbodor can to function as a check to some of NU's most threatening pokemon Pokemon in such as (saying "in" would make it seem as if Passimian and Comfey are objectively the most threatening NU Pokemon, which as an NU player, they are arguably not) Passimian and Comfey. A very wide Offensive movepool combined with a workable base Base 95 Attack lets Garbodor threaten Xatu with a STAB Gunk Shot, while threatening Pokemon such as Seismitoad and Silvally-Steel with Seed Bomb and Stomping Tantrum respectively. This is in addition to a utility movepool including Spikes and Toxic Spikes and utility options such as Explosion and Pain Split, which gives Garbodor the ability to easily set up hazards against an enemy team, and either keep them up, (RC) or keep itself healthy. However, while Gunk Shot is fairly powerful, its only merely good attack means that Garbodor struggles to threaten Pokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix, even with its coverage options in Seed Bomb and Stomping Tantrum respectively. Thanks Due to its only passable bulk, Garbodor finds itself taking significant damage from neutral attacks, (RC) and it finds itself threatened by enemy coverage moves, taking very heavy damage from Passimian's Earthquake.

Gunk Shot is Garbodor's main STAB move, letting it 2HKO Xatu with either a Jolly Nature and Toxic Plate, or with an Adamant Nature, as well as threatening pokemon such as Comfey and Delphox. Spikes wears down enemy Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team, and Garbodor is a good user of the move thanks to its great defensive typing, (RC) and ability to bypass Xatu. Explosion can be used to prevent the opponent from using Defog or Rapid Spin, provided that Garbodor is faster than the enemy while also dealing very heavy damage. Stomping Tantrum can be used if Toxic Spikes is not needed, (RC) and is Garbodor's hardest hitting move against Steelix. (RP) and Klinklang, while also threatening enemy Garbodor. Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor, (RC) which can be very beneficial for Garbodor's team. Pain Split can be used in the last moveslot to keep Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match if it is worn down too much, (RC) and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier.

Set Details

Maximum Attack and an Adamant nature maximizes Garbodor's power, enabling it to 2HKO Xatu with Gunk Shot, as well as hitting targets such as Decidueye and Vaporeon for heavy damage. Maximum speed is needed to outrun Xatu, as well as pokemon such as Incineroar. A Jolly nature can be used with Toxic Plate to maintain the 2HKO on Xatu, whilst also outrunning standard Comfey, (RC) and maximum speed Decidueye. If using an Adamant Nature, Black Sludge can be used to give Garbodor useful recovery, (RC) significantly increasing its longevity, while a Rocky Helmet can be used to damage any pokemon Pokemon making contact with it, such as a Passimian using U-Turn. Toxic Plate can be run with an Adamant Nature if being able to 2HKO Blastoise after Stealth Rock is needed. Aftermath is used to deal recoil damage to the opponent if they KO Garbodor with a contact move, (RC) (Add Period) for For example, (AC) Comfey KOing with Draining Kiss, or Passimian KOing Garbodor with Knock Off.

Usage Tips
========

Garbodor is often better off using Gunk Shot if the enemy has a living Xatu, as Xatu can immediately bounce back any Spikes it uses if it switches in on Garbodor correctly. Gunk Shot deals heavy damage to most pokemon Pokemon that do not resist it, (RC) and can be used to buy a turn to use Spikes, (RC) (Add Period) for For example, (AC) against a Vaporeon which is often forced to Wish if it switches into Gunk Shot. Garbodor should be brought in often against Grass Types such as Vileplume, as the more turns it has to set up spikes, the more effective it is. Be careful of coverage moves such as Earthquake from Passimian and of status moves such as Sleep Powder from Vileplume, as they can leave Garbodor crippled for the rest of a match. Explosion should be used when the opponent is predicted to either Defog or Rapid spin Spin, (RC) as it denies the opponent a target for either of those moves while also dealing heavy damage. An enemy using Defog or Rapid Spin can often be a free turn for Garbodor to attack them, so if running the correct coverage aim to take advantage of Pokemon such as Silvally-Steel defogging.

Team Options

Wallbreakers such as Magmortar and Exeggutor-Alola Alolan Exeggutor also benefit from Garbodor's assistance thanks to the number of switches they force. Friendly (Friendly?) Stealth Rock users such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Diancie are good teammates, building on the hazard pressure that Garbodor provides. Gunk Shot is Garbodor's main STAB move, damaging Xatu significantly, while 2hkoing 2HKOing it if Gunk Shot poisons Xatu, as well as OHKOing Comfey, (RC) and being Garbodor's strongest move in general, although its lacking of pp PP and low accuracy can lead to it running out. Spikes wears down enemy Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team, (RC) (Add Period) and Garbodor It (this was to improve flow) has the typing, defensive stats, and power to come in multiple times to set them set said hazards, while bypassing Xatu, a common Hazard Control option. Toxic Spikes gives Garbodor an additional move with which to support its team, easily and quickly wearing down defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Rhydon, and Diancie for Garbodor's team. Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor, (RC) which can be very beneficial for Garbodor's team. Pain Split can be used to keep Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match if it is worn down too much, (RC) and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier.

Maximum HP and 200 Special Defense EVs with a Careful nature give Garbodor good special bulk, (RC) letting making it take only 33% from a Sceptile's Leaf Storm, (RC) and letting allowing it to easily wall Comfey. 56 Speed EVs let Garbodor outrun max speed base 50s such as Diancie, as well as defensive Blastoise. Black Sludge keeps Garbodor healthy, mitigating chip damage taken from Stealth Rock, (RC) and preventing it from being worn down. Aftermath causes any opponent that KOs it with a contact move to take significant recoil damage. Rocky Helmet can be used to punish any opponent that makes contact with Garbodor, notably easily wearing down enemy Comfey, (RC) and punishing U-turns from pokemon Pokemon such as Passimian. A Physically defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe can also be used to better take on pokemon Pokemon such as like (avoiding repetition) Passimian, (RC) (Add Period) however However, (AC) this leaves Garbodor significantly more vulnerable to Sceptile, and Garbodor remains vulnerable to the coverage moves many physical threats carry.

Usage Tips

If facing an enemy Xatu, don't immediately try to set up spikes Spikes, (RC) as an opponent will often try to reflect them, (RC) or scout which Garbodor set is being run by switching into it. A better option is to either use Gunk Shot to damage it, (RC) or switch out to a teammate that can punish Xatu such as Sneasel or Heliolisk. Against an opponent without proactive hazard control, (RC) it is often helpful to immediately set up hazards, as it will force the opponent to quickly remove them, (RC) or take significant damage. Garbodor should generally be brought in against attacks it resists, (RC) such as Comfey's Draining Kiss, (RC) or Passimian's Close combat Combat, (RC) (Add Period) although However, be wary of coverage moves, (RC) such as Passimian's Earthquake. Prioritize Spikes over Toxic Spikes if the opponent has a grounded poison Poison such as Vileplume, (RC) and generally try to prioritize Toxic Spikes if the opponent's hazard removal is vulnerable to Toxic Spikes, (RC) or if the opponent has a pokemon Pokemon such as Slowbro or Dhelmise that needs to be Poisoned. Hazard Removal hazard removal should be chosen to keep up Garbodor's Spikes, (RC) so meaning Pokemon such as Xatu, Blastoise, and Dhelmise are excellent teammates. Toxic Spikes support is greatly appreciated by Delphox, Rotom, and Vaporeon, or any pokemon Pokemon whose answers are weak to Toxic Damage damage, (RC) or has have some way of staying on the field for a long time. Wallbreakers and sweepers such as Comfey, Passimian, and Magmortar all appreciate Garbodor's support, being able to either rack up spikes Spikes damage by forcing switches, (RC) or appreciating that Spikes can wear down their answers. Stealth Rock users that can get Stealth Rock up against Xatu are good teammates, (RC) as Stealth Rock support from Rhydon, Steelix, (AC) or Diancie can help to wear it down. Pokemon that are able to beat Golbat and Rotom are exceptional teammates, (RC) as they are able to Defog on Garbodor while resisting Gunk Shot ; (Remove Semi-Colon) (Add Period) some Some examples include Heliolisk and Incineroar.

Weak Armor can be used to give Garbodor a speed boost when it is hit, (RC) letting allowing it to potentially get off more entry hazards, but the decrease in bulk means it is far less reliable as a check to enemy Fighting-types.

Gunk Shot is Garbodor's main STAB move, letting it lets Garbodor always 2HKO Xatu with either a Jolly Nature nature and Toxic Plate,(RC) or with an Adamant Nature nature (these changes are to address the sort of awkward phrasing while still keeping the information that conveys what is necessary to reach the benchmark with Gunk Shot. I also added 'always', since you can 2HKO Xatu with no boosting item or ability; it's just an unreliable chance to), as well as threatening pokemon threaten Pokemon such as Comfey and Delphox. Spikes wears and Toxic Spikes wear down enemy opposing Pokemon, helping out Garbodor's team, and Garbodor is a good user of the move moves thanks to its great defensive typing,(RC) and ability to bypass Xatu. Explosion can be used to prevent the opponent from using Defog or Rapid Spin, provided that Garbodor is faster than the enemy while also dealing very heavy damage. Stomping Tantrum can be used if Toxic Spikes is not needed, and is Garbodor's hardest-hitting(AH) move against Steelix.(RP) and Klinklang, while also threatening enemy and threatens opposing Garbodor. Alternatively,(AC) Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor, which can be very beneficial for Garbodor's its team. Explosion prevents the opponent from using Defog or Rapid Spin to remove entry hazards, provided that Garbodor is faster than the enemy, while also dealing very heavy damage. Pain Split can be used in the last moveslot to keep Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match if it is ,(AC) preventing it from being worn down too much, and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier. (Generally, you want to have the moves listed in the order they appear in the set. I didn't do that for Toxic Spikes because it fit better just mentioned next to Spikes, but ya)

However, while Gunk Shot is fairly powerful, Garbodor's only good Attack means that it struggles to threaten Pokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix, even with its coverage options in Seed Bomb and Stomping Tantrum. Furthermore, while its bulk is good enough to take resisted hits, Garbodor finds itself taking significant damage from neutral attacks, and it finds itself threatened by coverage moves, taking very heavy damage from Passimian's Earthquake and Whimsicott's Psychic.

Set Details

Aftermath is used to deal recoil damage to the foe if they KO Garbodor with a contact move, such as Comfey's Draining Kiss and or Passimian's Knock Off.

Usage Tips
========

Explosion should be used when the opponent is predicted to use either Defog or Rapid Spin, as it denies the opponent stops them from removing entry hazards while also dealing heavy damage. If it's running the correct coverage, an enemy such as Silvally-Steel or <Rapid Spin user> using Defog or Rapid Spin can often be a free turn for Garbodor to attack them, so if running the correct coverage, aim to take advantage of Pokemon such as Silvally-Steel Defogging.

Team Options
========

Rhydon and Diancie are especially good teammates options, as they provide another method to pressure Xatu. Pokemon such as Heliolisk and Incineroar are able to beat Golbat and Rotom for Garbodor, Pokemon that it otherwise struggles with.

Gunk Shot pressures Xatu, 2HKOing it if Gunk Shot it poisons it, and OHKOes Comfey, although its lacking PP and low accuracy make it unreliable to spam. Alternatively, Seed Bomb can be used to wear down Seismitoad and Rhydon for Garbodor, which can be very beneficial for its team. Pain Split keeps Garbodor at high HP over the course of a match, preventing it from being worn down too much, and can make matchups against Pokemon such as Comfey and Sceptile significantly easier.

Aftermath causes any opponent Pokemon that KOs it KOes Garbodor with a contact move to take significant recoil damage.

Usage Tips
========

Prioritize Spikes over Toxic Spikes if the opponent has a grounded Poison-type such as Vileplume, and generally try to prioritize Toxic Spikes if the opponent's hazard removal remover is vulnerable to Toxic Spikes or if the opponent has a Pokemon such as Slowbro or Dhelmise that needs to be poisoned. Aftermath can be used to deal significant damage to the opponent that KOes Garbodor, so try to keep Garbodor around for the right time once it gets to low HP.

Team Options
========

Toxic Spikes support is greatly appreciated by Delphox, Rotom, and Vaporeon, or as well as any Pokemon whose with answers are weak to poison or that has some way of staying on the field for a long time.

Other Options
=============

===================
