Gardevior [Weather Counter]

[Why this deserves to be on site]
I'm surprised no one brought this up, weather is a dominant force in OU, 'nuff said.

[SET]
Name: Weather Counter
Move 1: Psychic
Move 2: Thunderbolt
Move 3: Focus Blast
Move 4: Trick
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace
Nature: Modest
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
-Scarf+Trace out speeds all Swift-swimmers/Sand rushers
-Psychic for Venusaur, random Fighting types, and a harder move on Kingdra/Ludicolo than T-Bolt
-Focus Blast is for Sand teams, especially Excadril, also Ferrothorn, but Tricking it is better.
-Trick-Scarf cripple walls and stat-uppers

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
Energy Ball - Gastrodon and Quagsires in Sand Teams
Hidden Power Ice - Dragonite in Rain Teams, Landuros in Sand Teams, Salamence in Sun Teams
/Ground - Fire types in Sun Teams
Shadow Ball - Random Psychics, but since all are stat-uppers, Trick is better
Signal Beam - Exeggutor and Celebi, who walls everything
Destiny Bond - When you are on low health

I've actually seen this in battle, it is possibly one of the best excadrill revenge killers bar a focus blast miss, and even then, you can just sacrifice it tricking the cscarf, locking it into x-scissor (most likely) and then switch in something like magnezone.

This had already been rejected, I believe. Gardevoir isn't the dominant force in OU that you make it out to be, and has lost much utility after Aldaron's Proposal. If not used in weather, it just makes a subpar Choice Scarf user, rather than a "counter".

So you're using a Poke to check Excadrill 70% of the times and Venusaur? Becuse those are the only OU Pokemon you can check based on their abilities. You can also say you can check Thundurus, Gyara, and Salamence with Trick, but if they decide to attack you on the switch, you're in trouble.

I don't think you should rely on Gardevoir as a Scarfer either as 2 of the 3 best Pursuiters in OU (Scizor and Metagross) can trap you without a problem.

I agree that there were some Pokes being discussed on the Unfit for OU thread that deserve an analysis but Gardevoir isn't one of them.

I'd like to see a second Pokemon that can check both of these at the same time(and "weather speed-doublers" a considerable size of the whole metagame. And you are saying as if Gardevior does not have 125 base SpA to kill Thunderus with Psychic, Gyara with T-bolt, and Sala with Hidden Power.

or you can let Weather-abusers sweep your team with no problem

This is an individual set and they are open to any set that work, no?

Gardevoir doesn't have the defenses to check them. Also Gyarados is now running Moxie so scratch it from the list. If Excadrill chooses to EQ or X-Scissor on the switch, no checks for you. Venusaur usually uses Sleep Powder first and then attack (it won't set up till Gardevoir is dead). And Thundurus's STAB will also hurt a lot. Also if you choose those 3 moves you won't check Excadrill at all.

There are many checks to weather teams that you can use that are better than Gardevoir... You're acting as if no Gardevoir meant instant loss against weather which couldn't be more wrong

No, this will have to be an analysis because Gardevoir doesn't have a OU one so you should have written it.

But I'm not a QC and this is only my opinion.

Uxie last gen had individual OU set even though it did not have a OU analysis, just saying, so I think this should be alright to put Gardevior too.

I don't really know what to say...

Read the analysis carefully, you'll realize it has an OU overview, OU OO, and OU checks and counters...

I wrote the original Gardevoir OU analysis for this generation and eventually decided to withdraw it. With Aldaron's proposal, most of Gardevoir's revenging targets are gone, and she can only check Excadrill with a 70% accuracy move, which is not ideal. That, and Gardevoir is thoroughly outclassed outside this role. Whilst her large movepool lets her run varied support sets, her stats let her down compared to things like Uxie, whilst offensively she is outclassed by Latios and Reuniclus. In addition, Gardevoir is now thoroughly outclassed as a defensive Trace user by Porygon2 with its new Eviolite. :/

Granted, I overestimated the usage of Venusaur/Chlorophyll abusers (total only about 5%). Lock this.
