Introduction
The last few suspect testing rounds were very unpredictable. There was a lot of creativity in people creating their movesets, as well as building their teams. There was without a doubt, the most weather teams i have ever seen in my time in competitive battling. I decided to make a team that could put the pressure on every type of weather. Instead of weather teams usually being on the offensive all the time, I wanted the tables to turn on them. This team keeps me on the offensive all the time and keeping weather teams on their heels. I also wanted to make sure that i didn't get wrecked by non-weather teams, so i was very careful in picking the pokemon for this team.
I have had a high degree of success with this team. It got me a vote in round two and round three of the suspect tests. I also peaked at rank #3 on the beta server with around a 1550 rating. The alt i used in round three to get voting requirements was "scranton", so that is why it's my thread title. I used this team four rounds of the "just dOU it" tournament and i won all 3/4 of my b/w battle with it (lost round 4). Now that the third round is over, i decided to make a new team because this one seemed to be getting a bit outdated. I wanted to share the team with you guys, and see if you have any tweaks for me!
The Team
Deoxys-S @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
Evs: 4HP / 252Atk / 252Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Spa)
-Stealth Rocks
-Spikes
-Magic Coat
-Superpower
This guy right here guarentees that he will get atleast stealth rocks up every single time. More times than not i will get a layer or two of spikes up which can be detrimental to teams without a rapid spinner. Stealth Rocks are almost a neccesity for a offensive team. They break opposing pokemons sashes and can even disable the ability sturdy, which can be really annoying especially on skarmory who can phaze you out despite your boosts. I chose magic coat over taunt to beat opposing deoxys leads. With deoxys-s coming down from ubers, people are bound to abuse it like i am. I don't mind the opponent getting stealth rocks up as long as i do too so thats why i didnt pick taunt. I swear to god, i was the first person to use superpower deoxys in gen 5. I used it in the first suspect round, and now it is on pretty much every deoxys. Believe me or not, This is the best stealth rocks setter out there, and is a key part of my team.
Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 192HP / 64Def / 252Spa / 0 speed IVs
Quiet Nature (+Spa, -Spe)
-Trick Room
-Psychic
-Focus Blast
-Shadow Ball
All i can say about this little stem cell is, wow. He is absolutely the best late game sweeper there is, and ever will be. With the help of deoxys' entry hazards, this guy can sweep whole teams at a time. Reinculus got a gift from the heavens with a sluggish speed stat, a sky high spa stat, well rounded defences, and of course trick room. It is very very easy to set up trick room with this guy. Nobody ever expects a trick room reinculus because there is so many CM variants out there. I bring this guy in on a -2 choiced latios as the opponent proceeds to go into their CM counter, like tyranitar and i trick room in their face. The only hard counters to this guy are scizor and blissey. Once i take those two pokemon out of the game, the match is pretty much over. The only pokemon that is slower than this guy is ferrothorn with 0 speed iv's. Even then ferrothorn can only 3hko me, when i can 2hko him with focus blast and KO him after stealth rocks and a layer of spikes. I don't know why i don't see a lot more of this set. It absolutely destroys sun teams by taking out heatran, blaziken, and venasaur. I am expecting to see a lot more of this guy in round 4.
Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multi-Scale
EVs: 4HP / 252Atk / 252Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -Spe)
-Extremespeed
-Outrage
-Dragon Claw
-Fire Punch
Another not very used set this generation. This guy really packs a punch boasting a massive base 134 attack stat coupled with a choice band really dents anything that isn't resisting it. I really added this guy to me team so beat sun team's pokemon like blaziken and venasaur with extremespeed. Multiscale can let this guy take a boosted hit from either of these guys and KO them back with ex-speed. Outrage is there for late-game sweeping if there are slower pokemon left, and dragon claw is there for more mid-game when i dont want to be locked into outrage and KO'd by a faster pokemon. Fire punch is there because it gives perfect coverage with outrage and dragon claw. More times than not people will switch ferrothorn right into this guy expecting it to either be a mix-nite, or and ddance nite. I really like the surprise factor of CB Dnite because frankly, nobody uses it. That is good for me because nobody expects it!
Scizor @ Lum Berry
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252HP / 40Atk / 216Spd
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -Spe)
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-Bug Bite
-Roost
Bulky Scizor, my favorite set on scizor by far. It is so easy to set up with this guy and before your opponent can say "hax" this guy is +6. It's simple to set up here, come in on a ferrothorn(pretty much on every team), swords dance once and take the t-wave/leechseed. Swords dance twice on the switch and prepare to sweep. For that to work you have to make sure you've taken out all of his counters beforehand, like gliscor and skarmory. I chose lum berry over leftovers because i wanted to be able to beat burungeru. If i'm boosted, more times than not someone will send in a burungeru to will-o-wisp me. What i do is take the will-o-wisp, let my lum take it, and hit back with a bug bite. Then I Bullet punch the weak burungeru which usually KO's if i'm +4. I don't do this unless im atleast +4 because im not retarded. This guy can also help dnite in countering sun teams by sacrificing him to weaken venasuar with bullet punch. I chose roost to give it extra survivability vs. ferrothorn and other threats.
Latios @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4HP / 252Spa / 252Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
-Draco Meteor
-Dragon Pulse
-Surf
-Psycho Shock
Latios is another former uber that i have on my team. He is an absolute offensive machine and with choice specs and STAB draco meteor anything that isn't resisting the barring blissey is going to take a heavy hit. I personally think this guy should be banned, but who knows if it will or not? Anyways i chose dragon pulse as the second move because it lets latios become an effective sweeper instead of just being a hit-and-run pokemon. If all the steels in the game are gone i will usually dragon pulse more often than i draco meteor if there are hazards on the field. Surf is there mostly for tyranitar. If an opponent has a ttar (and i see it in team preview) I will almost always surf whatever is on the field predicting that they will try and go in on my speced draco meteor and pursuit trap me. Psycho Shock may seem like an odd choice over HP fire, but it has really helped me out. It 2hko's blissey, they never see it coming. I have so many ways to deal with nattorei that i didn't really think hp fire would benefit me anymore than psycho shock would. Other than that this is your standard specs latios.
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252HP / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Nature: Impish (+Def, -Spa)
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
-Facade
-Taunt
I originally had this guy as a fling+acrobat gliscor back in round two. As the metagame developed however, i decided to try something new. I have really found this guy effective in countering excadrill (duh) and really surprising people by swords dancing on the switch. This guy can beat skarmory 1v1 everytime because of taunt. I chose facade over ice fang for better neutral coverage on more things. Earthquake is a great STAB and anything that doesn't resist it at +2 will probably get KO'd. The EVs give it a lot of bulk on both sides of the defensive spectrum with 252 in HP. The 184 speed evs help me outspeed top defensive threats like skarmory and burungeru so i can taunt them before they phaze/taunt me. I started out using rotom-w instead of gliscor for a sand counter. I found that rotom-w wasn't quite as effective as this guy is because of hydro pump misses and rock slide flinches. Rotom-w also isn't taking a +4 rock slide from excadrill anytime soon.
Threats
Latios - He is really the only threat i can think of off the top of my head. The only way i can beat him is by either having a +2 scizor, or sacrificing a pokemon and setting up TR rank.
Conclusion
Love my team or hate it, i dont really care. Contructive criticism is cool and always appreciated. I just wanted to share my team that i have had a load of success with you guys, thanks!!!
