Pet Mod [Gen 8] Perfect Galar

First Place

Octolock - Lowers speed by 1 Stage each turn, and now affects Ghost types. For the first part of the change, Octolock is a move that is good at handling tanks and not much else, and Grapploct is a very slow Pokemon, meaning that offensive threats can easily knock it out. By lowering speed, it means that Grapploct has a chance to use an offensive move on a weakened target before it can be killed after the Lock has been set up. For the second part, Octolock is a very mediocre move in a metagame where some of the biggest threats and tanks are all Ghost-type (Dragapult, Aegislash, G-Corsola), and something that could make Grapploct playable is giving it the ability to lock down and threaten those Pokemon.
Screen Cleaner: Removes hazards and terrains along with screens (before switching in).
Second Place
Vileplume/Bellossom: +Grassy Surge, +Toxic Spikes (Bellossom: +10 SpD)
Rillaboom covers the offensive Grassy Surge when it gets released, but these two have some solid support moves. Toxic Spikes gives it something to do aside from spamming powders.
Galvantula: +10 SpA
It really just needs some more offensive pressence to stand out from Ribombee and Orbeetle as a web setter.
Howl - Also lowers enemy attack 1 stage.
The ability to simultaneously set up and force a switch is a great boon, although it won’t skyrocket every user. Most are low tier except Arcanine, and maybe Boltund, and Lucario would rather use a 2 stage setup move anyway. The other Mons are either low tier or are special attackers like Ninetails.

Arcanine is the true winner especially if you go crazy and compound it with Intimidate. This can give you the breathing room to possibly even get 2 or even more Howls off.
Octolock buff 3
Screen Cleaner buff 3

Vileplume/Bellossom Grassy Surge 2
Galvantula buff 2
Howl buff 2

Play Rough buff 1
Slurpuff Misty Surge 1
Spirit Break and co. 1

ok now who wants to code

Quick announcements:

Coding is proceeding at a good pace. Thanks Scoopapa daddy

Also, we're gonna be ignoring the DLC and sticking with the "original 435". This mod was built with that restriction in mind, and having to add 200+ more mons could be troublesome for balance and might make the idea of giving everything a unique, viable niche flat-out unviable.

What changes did happen to the Dynamax stuff recently? I thought that Max Airstream was originally made to be 60% accuracy?

All the changes are on the spreadsheet. Max Airstream now has reduced BP and lowers both defenses because the 60% accuracy thing was deemed too rng-based

Pokemon: Mudsdale
Role: Wall
Stat Changes (If Any): +15 Sp. Defense, + 20 Speed
Ability Changes (If Any): + Intimidate
instead of Inner Focus
Movepool Changes (If Any):
+Slack Off
What sets this Pokemon apart from ones with similar roles?: Mudsdale is a very good wall compared to other that fit this role. The stat buffs make it so that it can now take Special Hits better. Also the speed buff is to make it so it can kill other walls. Slack Off is so Mudsdale can have good recovery.

Sample

Mudsdale @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Body Press
- Rock Slide
- High Horsepower
- Slack Off

Pokemon Name: Drapion
Role: Bulky Sweeper or Sand Sweeper
Stat Changes (If Any): Attack +25 (90 to 115), SpDef +10 (75 to 85), Speed -10 (95 to 85)
Ability Changes (If Any): Remove Sniper and Keen Eye, add Merciless and Sand Rush.
Movepool Changes (If Any): Add First Impression, Gunk Shot, Lunge, and Hammer Arm
What sets this Pokemon apart from ones with similar roles?: Drapion's typing makes it a unique choice for sand teams, able to resist Grass moves that would normally threaten a sand team's water absorbers, and it inherently offers coverage distinct from what sand teams usually run. An offensive Pokemon with Merciless is entirely unprecedented due to the ability previously only being available on Toxapex.
Pokemon Name: Toxicroak
Role: Fast Sweeper that can be Physical or Special and functions well on rain teams
Stat Changes (If Any): SpAtk +10 (86 to 96), Spe +10 (85 to 95)
Ability Changes (If Any): Remove Anticipation, Dry Skin, and Poison Touch, add Storm Drain, Swift Swim, and Iron Fist.
Movepool Changes (If Any): Add Close Combat, Liquidation, Hydro Pump, and Surf
What sets this Pokemon apart from ones with similar roles?: The allure of this altered Toxicroak for rain teams would be its typing, as every other Pokemon with Swift Swim, save for the ever-relevant Armaldo, has been water-type. This provides rain teams with Toxicroak with a new world of coverage, with Poison STAB capable of dealing with bulkier grass-types, and a revenge killer with priority options such as Sucker Punch or Bullet Punch. For teams not built around rain, Toxicroak can play the role of a special sweeper and its standard water switch-in with Storm Drain, or run a physical set with Iron Fist and Toxicroak's wide variety of punching moves for coverage.
Base Power 50 to 70, multiplied by 1.5 when smacking down a Flying-type, Pokemon holding an Air Balloon, Pokemon effected by Magnet Rise, or Pokemon with Levitate. This bonus does not apply to Pokemon that have already been smacked down. Any Pokemon hit by Smack Down will be unable to use Roost.
I feel this change is necessary in order to provide a consistent Rock STAB when Smack Down is the only physical Rock-type move not exclusive to a specific Pokemon with 100% accuracy. This change could potentially buff certain Pokemon with it, the first thought coming into my mind being Rhyperior, to become more viable as a check to Ground immunities such as Corviknight or the Rotoms.
2/28: Removed Sheer Force from the Drapion submission in order to not conflict with an earlier submission.
2/29: Added Smack Down, organized suggestions into spoilers.
3/3: Added Magnet Rise to Smack Down buff.
3/4: Toned down Drapion's speed nerf and increased the attack buff.

Pokemon Name: Weezing-Galar
Role: Special Attacker/Debuffer for Poison; Secondary Function as Wonder Room setter and Def/SpD Wall
Stat Changes (If Any): -10 Spe, Atk; +20 SpA, +10 HP (500 BST)
Ability Changes (If Any): Remove Misty Terrain; Add Corrosion
Movepool Changes (If Any): Remove Sunny Day; Add Toxic Thread, Baneful Bunker, Acid Armor, Wonder Room
What sets this Pokemon apart from ones with similar roles?:
Besides the unique Poison/Fairy typing providing an immunity to Dragon (in exchange for x2 damage from Steel), Weezing-Galar is a surprisingly tough wall that sports a base Def of 120, with Wonder Room allowing it to swap it with SpD at will while keeping it's Def high with Acid Armor (if you choose to put it). However, where this mon shines is with Corrosion, where it can run a full Poison STAB while being able to affect Poison and Steel types with it's statuses. It also has a lot of versatility on what kind of set it can run, opting for a Toxic/Venom Drench/Venoshock set for a heavy Special sweep/debuff or more of a trap setter/powder user with Poison Powder and Toxic Spikes.

Sample Sets:

Specially Offensive/Trap Setter
Rockefeller (Weezing-Galar) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Corrosion
Shiny: No
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
- Toxic
- Venom Drench
- Venoshock
- Toxic Spikes

Wonder Room Tank
Phonon (Weezing-Galar) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Def / 4 Spe / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Acid Armor
- Wonder Room
- Toxic Thread
- Baneful Bunker

Pokemon: Zeraora
Role: Physical Sweeper
Stat Changes (If Any):
Ability Changes (If Any):
+ Adaptability (2nd) +Electric Surge (HA)
Movepool Changes (If Any): + Flare Blitz or Pyro Ball or Both
What sets this Pokemon apart from ones with similar roles?: Zeraora takes the place of Koko from last gen. The new abilities are so Zeraora have that last push of strength for its Plasma Fist. Flare Blitz/Pyro Ball are there so he can have a strong fire coverage. I think even one of these will give Zeraora the last push it needs.

Sample

Zeraora @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Play Rough
- Pyro Ball
- Close Combat

Zeraora @ Life Orb
Ability: Electric Surge
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Play Rough
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
This is way too much, Zeraora's already great and all these buffs are absurd. Vetoed. Even if it was fine, I'd ask you to edit it into your original post.

Pokemon Name: Drapion
Role: Bulky Sweeper or Sand Sweeper
Stat Changes (If Any): Attack +15 (90 to 105), SpDef +10 (75 to 85), Speed -20 (95 to 75)
Ability Changes (If Any): Remove Battle Armor, Sniper, and Keen Eye, add Sheer Force, Merciless, and Sand Rush.
Movepool Changes (If Any): Add First Impression, Gunk Shot, Lunge, and Hammer Arm
What sets this Pokemon apart from ones with similar roles?: With regards to Sheer Force users, Drapion provides a balance between the typically fast and fragile Sheer Force users like Darmanitan and Braviary and the slower, bulkier end in Conkelldur and Copperajah, a slot previously only filled by Kingler, who is crippled by its movepool having precious few physical moves that can actually benefit from Sheer Force. Drapion's typing makes it a unique choice for sand teams, able to resist Grass moves that would normally threaten a sand team's water absorbers, and it inherently offers coverage distinct from what sand teams usually run.
A previous submission already gave Drapion Tough Claws over Battle Armor, it's OK to add more but don't overwrite that buff. Also vetoing Sand Rush for not making much sense flavor-wise unless you got a good justification for it.

My bad about the Battle Armor thing, I must not have seen it earlier. For Sand Rush, a few of Drapion's dex entries mention it attacking people in the desert:

"It attacks people and Pokémon that cross the desert. This has only furthered its bad reputation."
- HGSS

"It's so vicious that it's called the Sand Demon. Yet when confronted by Hippowdon, Drapion keeps a low profile and will never pick a fight."

- SwSh

Aight then, Sand Rush Drapion gets a clear from me!

Also, to Blazer, PUT ALL YOUR SUBMISSIONS IN ONE POST! You can edit posts like a normal forum would.

Sorry about that. Didn't think about that.

:ss/ninetales:
Pokemon Name: Ninetales
Role: Sun Setter
Stat Changes (If Any): 83 HP (+10) 56 Atk (-20) 85 Def (+10) 91 SpA (+10) 115 SpDef (+15) 100 Spe
Ability Changes (If Any): N/A
Movepool Changes (If Any): Remove Shadow Ball, Add U-Turn, Focus Blast
What sets this Pokemon apart from ones with similar roles?:
Ninetales is underused as a sun setter compared to Torkoal so I wanted to change things up. This version of Ninetales is slightly bulkier, stronger and I have decided to give it U-Turn as a pivotting option and Focus Blast for coverage. Ninetales can be used as a setup sweeper with Nasty Plot or a defensive pivot.

This was fun to make!

There's been a sudden development! Perfect Galar is now almost fully coded and playable on Dragon Heaven! The only things currently not working as intended are Dynamax's new interaction with Encore/Disable, Gorilla Tactics' interaction with Dynamax and Max Overgrowth's drawback. Thank you Scoopapa for getting this made, even if it took a while!

Once this slate is done (likely tomorrow or Thursday at the very latest) and the changes are voted on and coded in, we'll finally begin our first few playtesting tournaments! But on the subject of voting, when it does begin, not only will we be voting on which submissions from this slate will make the cut, but we'll also be voting on the following major moves and whether they'll have their pre or post Home distribution!

-Toxic
-Knock Off
-Defog

Some people enjoyed having these major moves be less distributed pre-Home, so when the time comes you can vote on whether that previous restriction will be brought back for each of them! Submissions that manually give these moves to certain Pokemon will not be affected.

Other things possibly down the pipeline:

-Melmetal nerf
-Allowing DLC Pokemon on a case-by-case basis

Explosion-The target's Defense is halved during damage calculation like in Gen 4
this is a big buff to Pokemon with mediocre offensive stats or defensive pokemon with niece roles
(ex.Claydol,Ferrothorn and Weezing-Galar)

A Melmetal nerf in the future? I got one prepared.

Pokemon Name: Melmetal
Role: Offensive Tank
Stat Changes (If Any): 125 (-10)/123 (-20)/123 (-20)/80/65/84 (+50)
Ability Changes (If Any): N/A
Movepool Changes (If Any): -Superpower, -Body Press, -Brick Break, +Bulk Up
Reasoning: By reducing its gargantuan bulk a bit downwards, and removing its Fighting-type coverage (barring the unreliable Dynamic Punch) for a major chunk of coverage, I think this should work as a nerf. Losing the ability to hit Dark and other Steel-types super effectively does hamper its ability to punish those who face its massive bulk. On the other hand, thanks to the way that the rules work here, the nerfed stats are now dumped in Speed, resulting in it becoming much faster and effectively outrun stuff. It also now gets Bulk Up to at least give it a boosting move.

Move: Double Iron Bash
Changes: No longer has a chance to flinch the target.
Reasoning: Well, since Melmetal is bonkers, so is its signature move. The power is justifiable, but the flinch chance is painful, so why not remove it?
