Spore: should it be banned or not?

Welcome to my post, as u might know, im Yoko, ive been playing Balanced Createmons for about a month consistently, but have been playing since early January, Today im here to post a opinion on Spore, A prevalent move in Balanced Createmons, This will feature both arguments on why Spore should be or Should not be banned, personally i am a bit biased towards Spore, As i do think it isnt good for the meta, But i will try to be as neutral as i can be, so u should take my opinion with a grain of salt but i feel like Spore should atleast be addressed a little.

So what is Spore, What Pokemon use it?

This part will be separated into 2 sub-parts aswell, Spore is a generation 1 move that has 100% Accuracy and will always make the opponent fall asleep for atleast 2 Turns, in Balanced Createmons its mechanics remain the same however it is given a steep price of 2.5, making it tied for the most expensive Status move in the tier, Showcasing its power in the Tier, in other tiers such as Balanced Hackmons, Sleep moves in general are banned due to there uncompetitiveness in the tier, while im not saying that Balanced Createmons and Balanced Hackmons are the same, It is still good to look at other tiers for information on what is considered "not needed in the meta" and "uncompetitive" as everyone has there own opinions on what they are considered generally, now we'll discuss some prominent Spore users in Balanced Createmons, Both Attacking and Defensive ones, these Sub-parts will feature mons, but the main thing we'll be looking at is the Abilities and Moves, as Stat Spreads, Typing, and Pokemon can be changed to the user's preference, even the Moveslots besides Spore can be considered changeable depending on team structure, all of these sets were provided from the official Balanced Createmons Server or either by Myself so shoutout to them, anyways lets dive into:

Spore on Offensive Pokemon:
:sv/amoonguss:
Amoonguss (F) @ Safety Goggles / Covert Cloak / White Herb
Ability: Adaptability
Shiny: Yes
Hidden Power: Fire / Fighting
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 252 HP / 170 Atk / 18 Def / 171 SpA / 18 SpD / 116 Spe
Naive Nature
- Spore
- Shell Smash
- Photon Geyser
- Bitter Blade / Collision Course

This set provided from The official Balanced Createmons Server by GhastlyPixie which focus's on Spores ability to provide the user free turns to either set up with Shell Smash or pick up an KO on a weakened defensive mon, Photon Geyser allows the Pokemon to be able
to pick up KO'es on Fur Coat and Physically Defensive Pokemon in the tier which may try to switch into an Bitter Blade, it also allows this Set to be able to ignore Abilities, making it harder to wall, making it only be truely walled by bulky Dark-types with Unaware or Fur Coat and Prankster Pokemon, other counters could include Pokemon that can dissuade it from coming in like other offensive Pokemon's as well as Imposter Pokemon who either force it out as to not risk being damaged or forcing it into a speed tie if the Pokemon is low enough to be KO'ed by its STABs. As for the items, Safety Goggles is to avoid being Spored by opposing Pokemon or Imposter, Covert Cloak helps avoid chip from moves like Salt Cure and Mortal Spin, and White Herb can be used to negate Shell Smash's Stat Drops. this set comes to around 25k Points, which is a decently expensive for an mixed attacker, however u can run alternatives for Shell Smash to lower its costs.

:sv/Koraidon:
Koraidon @ Toxic Orb / Flame Orb
Ability: Poison Heal / Guts
Hidden Power: Ghost
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 150 Atk / 70 Def / 1 SpA / 70 SpD / 80 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Victory Dance
- Facade
- Knock Off

This Set was Made by urs truely and is inspired by sojukirin's above Guts set, this set also focuses on The free Turns Generated by Spore but with Poison Heal or Guts, which pair nicely with Spore as these abilities require the Pokemon to be already Toxic or Burned making the Pokemon immune to Imposter and Regular Pokemon's Spore, Poison Heal in particular works well with Spore as Spore can grant it free turns to be able to regenerate HP, this set is is also a bit more Bulky than most offensive Attackers while being slower, as Spore can provide opportunities to be able able to setup easier, making the low speed manageable, while the extra bulk helps in conjuction with Poison Heal to make the Pokemon harder to kill, providing more opportunities to Spore, ways to counter this set include Unaware, Ghost + Grass Typing with decent Physical Bulk, Prankster, Fur Coat Ghosts with either an typing resistant to Dark or with a way to remove stat changes, Safety Goggles Pokemon, Bulky Grass-types, and Good as Gold Pokemon. as for Items and Abilities, this set costs 31k with Poison Heal + Toxic Orb being on the higher end of sweepers due to the high current price of Poison Heal, However u can also run Guts with Flame Orb like the aforementioned Guts Kirin set to lower this price down to 15k, allowing for more bulk or Speed depending on the user.
:sv/Meowscarada:
Meowscarada @ Rocky Helmet / Safety Goggles
Ability: Pixilate
Hidden Power: Grass / Water
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 175 Atk / 30 Def / 1 SpA / 30 SpD / 115 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Population Bomb / Surging Strikes
- Extreme Speed
- Spore
- Coil / Victory dance

This is another set by GhastlyPixie (Thank You for Helping with this <3 i altered it a bit), This set Focuses on the Ability Pixilate with Rocky Helmet to be able to Imposter-Proof Itself, Population Bomb + Extreme Speed can allow this Pokemon to be able to Spore the opposition and be able to Delete most non-Resistant Pokemon, Coil in combination with this sets already high Speed allows Meowscarada to able to hit all Population Bomb hits consistently, however Victory Dance can be run instead with Surging Strikes and Lower Speed to be able to hit Fire-types for super effective and Steel-types for neutral, making it still be imposter-proof and have a better matchup into resistances to Fairy-type moves at the cost of Damage, Ways to counteract this set include, defensive Unaware and Prankster Pokemon, defensive fire-types if not running surging strikes, defensive Steel-types, Haze/Topsy-Turvy defensive Pokemon, Pokemon that are faster and can Ohko it, and Furcoat mons. This Sets price ranges between 22-24k depending on whichever options u decide to use.

Spore on Defensive Pokemon
Spore primarily is always more valuable on offensive Pokemon as its ability to generate free turns are more appreciated on offensive Pokemon, Another reason for Spore not being that well on defensive Pokemon is that Defensive Pokemon cannot control who they Spore or who they dont effectively unlike Offensive Pokemon which can control what Pokemon will switch into them to take a hit, as almost any Pokemon can switch into an Defensive Pokemon without having to worry about being severly damaged due to them not being invested in offense and usually only running moves like Knock Off which are manageable, However, Spore can also work for Defensive Pokemon Structures for multiple reasons, Spore can help hinder wallbreakers and Setup sweepers from being able to break through the opposition, providing an opportunity for either healing, trapping, or even removing the Pokemon Stat changes, Spore can also be useful to be able to safely pivot in a Pokemon without having to worry about being severly damaged, and finally Spore can be used to not let Imposter be able to come in freely on Defensive Pokemon if the said Defensive Pokemon isnt running an Counter to Spore aswell, well lets dive into some sets made by myself:

:sv/Calyrex-Shadow:
Calyrex-Shadow @ Safety Goggles / Covert Cloak / Binding Band
Ability: Unaware
Hidden Power: Ground
Tera Type: Dragon / Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 90 Def / 1 SpA / 90 SpD / 68 Spe
Impish Nature
- Spore
- Spectral Thief / Parting Shot
- Thunder Cage / Magma Storm
- Heal Order
This set focuses on Spores great Synergy with Partial-Trapping moves, while also having unaware to be able to switch into any setup sweeper as long its Typing is neutral towards it, as previously mentioned Spore + Thunder Cage / Magma Storm have great Synergy together because these moves trap opponents which can prevent them from switching to an Spore-Immune Pokemon, while also hitting the Pokemon for residual damage all while the opposing Pokemon isnt able to move due to Spore. Spectral Thief can be used to get rid of Stat changes from opposing Pokemon, while Parting Shot allows this Pokemon to be able gain momentum on his checks. ways to Counteract this set are Pivoting, Grass-types when not running Magma Storm, Ghost-types, Good as Gold Pokemon who can reliably outheal the Partial Damage, Magic Bounce if not running safety goggles, Comatose Pokemon, and Imposter if not running Safety Goggles but it has to win a speed tie to spore first and u have to be chipped beforehand. as for items, if not running Safety Goggles for Regular and Imposter Spore, u can opt for going Grass typing over Dragon, Covert Cloak helps to avoid chipping from Mortal Spin and Salt Cure while also being able to avoid secondary affects like flinching, and Binding Band, while a bit unusual, Increases ur Partial-damaging from 1/8th to 1/6th max HP. This set in total costs around 21k, being decently price for an Unaware Pokemon.

:sv/Morpeko:
Morpeko @ Covert Cloak / Safety Goggles
Ability: Magic Bounce / Good as Gold / Comatose
Hidden Power: Normal
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 90 Def / 1 SpA / 90 SpD / 67 Spe
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Parting Shot / Teleport
- Heal Order
- Haze / Topsy-Turvy
This set primarily uses Magic Bounce to able to suprise the Opponent, while also having Options such as Good as Gold and Comatose for Status's and Sleep respectively, helping against the Imposter Matchup if not running Magic Bounce with Safety Goggles. Parting Shots allow it to pivot out from other defensive Pokemon and checks, alternatively Teleport can be used instead to be able pivot out of Imposter and Opposing Magic Bounce and Good as Gold Pokemon. Haze eliminates the opposing Pokemons Stat changes, while Topsy-Turvy can be used instead to invert them at the cost of 0.5 pt more. ways to Counteract this set are Defensive Pokemon immune to Spore, Grass-types, opposing Good as Gold, Magic Bounce, and Comatose Pokemon, Imposter when running Magic Bounce if Safety Goggles has been Knocked off or not Used, Misty Surge, and Taunt Pokemon. the items are pretty explanatory so i wont be discussing them after this point unless they are needed to be explained. this sets price ranges from 11-12k when using Comatose, 22-24k when using Magic Bounce, and 26-28k when using Good as Gold, allowing for many different price ranges depending on team composition.

:sv/Annihilape:
Annihilape @ Safety Goggles / Covert Cloak
Ability: Fur Coat / Ice Scales
Hidden Power: Steel
Tera Type: Ghost / Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 80 Def / 1 SpA / 80 SpD / 65 Spe
Impish Nature / Bold Nature
- Spore
- Mortal Spin / Knock Off
- Heal Order
- Parting Shot / U-turn / Knock Off
Another Set by me altered with the help of the Balanced Createmons Server, this set just focuses on being as bulky as possible while having Spore to dissaude Attackers, Mortal can be used to Spread Poison on Non-Steel and Covert Cloak Pokemon while also being improofed by the Steel-typing, while Knock off can hinder both physical and defensive Pokemon, Parting shot lets this set even further hinder Pokemon by lowering its stats while keeping momentum, however u-turn could be used instead for Taunt Pokemon. ways to counteract this set are the usual Good as Gold, Magic Bounce, and Comatose Pokemon, Steel types, Covert Cloak Pokemon if not running Knock off, Defensive Pokemon, Taunt, and Misty Surge. as for abilities, Fur Coat can be used to help against Physically attacking breakers along with Impish Nature, while Ice Scales can help against Specially attacking breakers with Calm Nature, one thing to note is that when running these abilities u should always run either Safety Goggles or the Grass-typing over Ghost. this sets price ranges from 17-20k when running Steel and Grass, and 21-24k when running Steel and Ghost, being on the higher end of Defensive Pokemon.

now that we have discussed the uses of Spore, on both offensive and defensive pokemon, and its ability on change the game on them lets get into the main discussion of:

The Spore Ban Argument
As always before we get into this, this is just my opinion feel free to respond if u feel like i missed something. Spore, while having many counters towards it, still is largely able to completely shut down opponents for one to three turns like previously mentioned, which can be infact very useful for Attackers especially as u can generally Identify what the opponents main switchin will be by seeing if they have High Hp stats with middling Speed and good Defenses and allow for them to be able to setup for 3 turns at max, which in most cases if u arent running Unaware or Prankster, can be almost game-ending, especially if the said Pokemon is also Self-Improofed from Imposter, Currently in Balanced Createmons the Sleep Clause Mod exists, which limits the Spore user to be able to only put one Pokemon to sleep at a time, this does prevent teams from being completely shut down by fast Spore users and provides an opportunity for teams to be able to play around Spore, however, this does mean if the opposing Trainer doesnt have a way to fully deal with Spore they will have to sacrifice one of there Pokemons, usually either an defensive one or Imposter, to the sleep move, and on top of this nothing actually is stopping the said Pokemon from just attacking the Pokemon incoming if the opponent expects you to Spore, or even attacking out the Spore'd Pokemon if the opponent doesnt have a realiable switch-in to the incoming Move, as for defensive Pokemon, as previously mentioned they arent the best users of Spore, however the combination of Spore + an Trapping move like the previously mentioned Thunder Cage or Magma Storm does mean that they can chip down the opponent with the residual damage while they arent able to move due to Spore, not allowing them to heal or switch out with an pivot move, these sets also can suprise the opponent and remove the idea of switching to an Pokemon to sack it to Sleep, even if the opponent has a Counter to the offensive Pokemon and Spore, an unlucky amount of Sleep Turns can mean they can be broken through easily, this can make Spore and even Sleep feel "uncompetitive" and mostly dependent on luck sometimes which can just ruin the game even if the opposition had a "winning" matchup. Also going a bit offside to the main of just Sleep moves in General, there is actually no proven downsides of banning Sleep moves for an Meta since it will always be a positive depending on how you frame it, as u can always argue for why a metagame is "better" with sleep moves in it or not, while Spore is the main User of sleep moves, if it does get banned then ppl will just use the cheaper less accurate moves, while sure the accuracy is lower, the lower price will certainly give them a niche on stuff like no guard and even some attackers, for example pokemon could still use Lovely Kiss with an trapping defensive set or an Offensive setup set which while being lower accuracy as mentioned costs 0.5 less than the aforementioned Spore if it does get Banned.

The Anti-Spore Ban Argument
all of the points that will presented here are either from the Balanced Createmons Server, or other Pokemon, so lets get into it, so firstly while it is true that Spore can be annoying to counter especially on a offensive Pokemon there still is a large amount of counterplay, some of the counterplays includes but not limited to Poison Heal, Magic Bounce, Safety Goggles, Misty Terrain, Guts, Comatose, Grass-types, Good as Gold, Misty Terrian, and Taunt, Subsitute can also be an counter to Spore if its setup beforehand, as these all can ruin Spore pretty much and ur bound to fight atleast one of these per matchup, secondly the Price and Opportunity Cost of Spore, 2.5pt for a move in general is something that most Pokemon cant afford, let alone Attackers who have to afford Moves, Setup, Abilities, Typings, and Spreads, causing them to be less powerful in general, this poses the problem of opportunity cost as you could spend those points on a strong breaking move or even get a cheaper move and buff your stats more, thirdly, The Sleep Clause Mod really can help to be an counter to Spore if played correctly, as you can sacrifice an Pokemon that already has a bad Matchup into your opponent or has already been hindered by, for example, Knock Off, another reason for an argument on why Spore shouldnt be banned is that it is generally easy to identify a Spore Pokemon if the opponent is good enough, as the Spore Pokemon will usually have high HP with Low Bulk and Middling Attack due to the fact on how draining Spore can be on the Teams points, and lastly in most matchups besides either fighting Hyper Offense, the effect of Spore would be less than, for example, another status such as Glare, Toxic, and Burn, since at minium 2 turns of sleep can be not as crippling as the aforementioned status's. Another reason for Spore not being bannable is that while sure it is "useable" on defensive Pokemon, it is generally considered to be way worse on them due to the fact that they cannot control who they spore or not effectively and how they really cannot do much to the opposition even after Sporing the Pokemon, and the price of Spore can make it so that the aforementioned defense Pokemon have to be less bulky or more expensive, which can be a deal breaker for most teams.

Final Regards
Well thats all for today, i hope u enjoyed reading all of this (no one did... im certain no one even read this lmao), anyways Thank you to the Balanced Createmons Server for helping to look at this, QC it, and help make sets, without you guys it wouldve taken more time <3, whether u like or dont like the opinion on Spore is purely up to you, maybe u want it banned, maybe u dont?, maybe u want sleep banned in general?, and maybe u even want Spore's price to be increased, that is all the yapping from me, Yoko out.

TLDR
Spore can be overcentralizing and Uncompetitive in this meta especially on offensive pokemon, however counterplay does exist like grass-types, good as gold, and Magic Bounce, however removing Spore would actually be a net positive for the meta in every way, since theres actually no competitive value for even keeping it in the tier.

Yoko's Guide On how to Stall!
Which no one asked for but im bored so uh yea

What is Stall?
Stall as compaired to its arc-counterparts of Balance and Offense is a stratergy that focuses on hindering down the opponent and dealing damage in the form of Residual Damage, This damage can come from many ways like Entry Hazards (Ceaseless Edge for Spikes and Stone Axe for Stealth Rock), Status Moves like Toxic and Leech Seed (Mortal Spin and Sappy Seed can also be used but needs to be more aware of Covert Cloak), and the valuable Residual Damaging and Phazing moves like Thunder Cage and Whirlwind (a more uncommon Strat is also trapping moves like Anchor Trap or Spirit Shackle with Perish Song to take care of offensive threats and Imposter but you have to run Shed Shell and Thousand Waves to ignore the usual Covert Cloak on Imposter, however this is largely not seen on stall enough though).

Stall usually only uses mons with defensive utility that aren't quick to be overwhelmed, however there are some stall teams that do invest a little in offense to be able to win even if the entry hazards chip does not work or there are Stall Teams thats use one main offense mon to be able to breakthrough the opposition, these Teams are called "Semi-Stall". Now that we have established the basics of Stall lets get into some Basic Components of a Stall Team!

Fundamentals of an Stall Team
Every Stall team follows most of these basic rules when being made, some of the catergories are not required on stall however as a perk of stall is that u can mostly build it to however u may like, may that include Sticky hold Pokemon or Whatever!, these categories include:

Entry Hazard Setter
These Pokemon functionally allow stall to break through the opposition's team as the Residual Damage Switching in can rack up, Premier Hazard moves are Ceaseless Edge, Stone Axe, and Toxic Spikes (Ceaseless Edge and Stone Axe can also be subsituted out for there counterparts Stealth Rock and Spikes), However setting up Entry Hazards can become some sort of an problem with removal options like Mortal Spin and Rapid Spin, An Example of an Entry Hazard Set Would be the Following:

:sv/Aerodactyl-Mega:
Aerodactyl-Mega @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Toxic Debris
Hidden Power: Dark
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 140 Def / 1 SpA / 140 SpD / 65 Spe
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Ceaseless Edge
- Heal Order
- Mortal Spin / Tidy Up
- Stone Axe

Status Absorber
As the name implies a Status Absorber is a Pokemon that can take an status and be unaffected by it, this can be in many ways, for example, Poison Heal Pokemon can be great Status Absorbers as they usually are already Poisoned making them immune to Status, Magic Bounce and Good as Gold are also decent Status Absorber options as they can repel the Status and gain a chance to setup Respectively.

Other Forms of Status Absorbers include but not limited to: Poison types for Toxic and Toxic Spikes, Grass Types for Powder Moves like Spore, Fire types for Burn, and Electric types for Glare, Items such as Covert Cloak can also help Absorb status from moves such as Mortal Spin. examples of Status Absorbers are:

:sv/Primarina:
Primarina (F) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Hidden Power: Water
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 250 HP / 1 Atk / 95 Def / 1 SpA / 95 SpD / 64 Spe
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Spiky Shield
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flip Turn

:sv/Houndoom-Mega:
Houndoom-Mega (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Hidden Power: Steel
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 250 HP / 1 Atk / 95 Def / 1 SpA / 95 SpD / 65 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Defog
- Spectral Thief
- Heal Order
- Flip Turn

Knock Off Absorber
The Purpose of a Knock Off Absorber is to deal with Knock Off's Item Removal ability which can be very detrimental to Stall as Stall does rely on its Items like Leftovers, Heavy-Duty Boots, and Covert Cloak, Sticky Hold is a great Ability on Knock Off Absorber's as it allows them to still retain their item and be immune to Knock Off's affect, another good Absorber are Poison Heal Pokemon after being Poisoned as usually u will not the Toxic Orb afterwords.

Alternatively u can also just sacrifice an item on an Pokemon which may not be needed so much or go with the more unusual no item Pokemon. The Main Thing the Knock Off Absorbers use are Z-moves as it can grant them more Benefits while also being unknockable. An example of a Knock Off Absorber is:

:sv/Gengar-Mega:
Gengar-Mega @ Icium Z / Darkinium Z
Ability: Prankster / Fur Coat / Ice Scales
Hidden Power: Flying
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 90 Def / 1 SpA / 90 SpD / 65 Spe
Impish Nature
- Haze
- Heal Order
- Parting Shot
- Mortal Spin / Knock Off

Status / Residual Damage Spreader
One of the best ways for stall to make progress is through Status conditions and Residual Damage, like Toxic and Thunder Cage Respectively Stall teams can also utilize other status conditions like burn and Paralysis for their benefits over the aforementioned Toxic at the cost of damage over time. Mortal Spin and Salt Cure are both great ways to Spread Status and Residual Damage as these moves pair excellently together as Salt Cure helps dissuade Steel-types from coming in.

However these options are walled by Covert Cloak so some may go with just Toxic, or even run other trapping moves, but have to be more careful as they can be stopped by both Mortal and Rapid Spin if they are considered Secondary Affects. Another Alternative is to run Knock off on the Pokemon or one of its teammates to remove the said Covert Cloak, Examples of Status and Residual Damage Spreaders are:

:sv/Annihilape:
Annihilape @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Fur Coat
Hidden Power: Steel
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 140 Def / 1 SpA / 140 SpD / 67 Spe

- Heal Order

:sv/Koraidon:
Koraidon @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers / Covert Cloak
Ability: Corrosion
Hidden Power: Ghost
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 105 Def / 1 SpA / 90 SpD / 64 Spe
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Toxic
- Heal Order
- Knock Off
- Parting Shot

:sv/Calyrex-Shadow:
Calyrex-Shadow @ Safety Goggles / Covert Cloak / Binding Band
Ability: Unaware
Hidden Power: Ground
Tera Type: Dragon / Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 90 Def / 1 SpA / 90 SpD / 68 Spe
Impish Nature
- Spore
- Spectral Thief / Parting Shot
- Thunder Cage / Magma Storm
- Heal Order

Unaware and Prankster Pokemon
Prankster and Unaware are the main pillars of every defensive Stall team as they are one of Stalls best ways to counteract out-of-hand Setup Sweepers and Wallbreakers while also providing great utility that is hard to play against, Unaware Pokemon usually use one of these moves: Spectrial Thief, Topsy Turvy, and Haze, to allow for their Teammates to come in safely or steal the opponents boosts, they can also use other utility options like Phazing in Whirlwind, Core Enforcer, and trapping moves.

Meanwhile Prankster Pokemon uses stuff such as Haze or Topsy Turvy in conjuction with other moves such as Heal Bell, Parting Shot, Heal Order, Status in either Toxic or Will-o-Wisp, and Defog, to overwhelm the opponent, Typically on Prankster sets you will also run one non-Status move like Mortal Spin and Knock Off for their utility and not to be completely walled by Dark-types. Examples of Both Prankster and Unaware Pokemon include the following:

:sv/Arceus-Dragon:
Arceus-Dragon @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Unaware
Hidden Power: Flying
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 90 Def / 1 SpA / 90 SpD / 65 Spe
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Spectral Thief / Haze / Topsy Turvy
- Heal Order
- Heal Bell / Core Enforcer / Whirlwind
- Parting Shot

:sv/Salandit:
Salandit @ Covert Cloak / Darkinium Z / Iron Ball
Ability: Prankster
Hidden Power: Steel
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 145 HP / 100 Atk / 130 Def / 1 SpA / 150 SpD / 68 Spe
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Haze
- Heal Order
- Defog / Heal Bell / Spikes
- Toxic / Parting Shot / Trick

Imposter
Imposter without a doubt is the Strongest Ability in Bc currently due to the fact of its Price, Overall ability to restrict Teambuilding, and the way it can force progression against almost all teams, Imposter on Stall while not being considered the best, still can be useful as to the scout the opposing Pokemon, force out opposing Pokemon with the risk of losing the Speedtie, and to be able to stall out or take advantage of Other opposing defensive Pokemon, An Example of a Stall Imposter set is:

:sv/Mew:
Mew @ Covert Cloak / Shed Shell / Toxic Orb / Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Imposter
Hidden Power: Fighting
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 22 Def / 1 SpA / 22 SpD / 69 Spe
Timid Nature
- Life Dew
- Refresh / Fling
- Defog
- Haze / Clear Smog

Physical / Special Walls
The most obvious and required part of a Stall team are of course the Physical and Special walls, Most walls in Stall will want to run great defensive typings to have a good matchup into the latest trends, for example that could be Steel + Ghost, Ghost + Normal, or even Ghost + Dark. Most Physical walls in the tier run ability's such as Fur Coat, Fluffy, Wandering Spirit, and even Stamina.

While Special walls are more lacking as they really only have Ice Scales as the main Ability. There are also abilities that help both kinds of Walls, these include Regenerator (both with or without the Assault Vest), Unaware, Prankster, Poison Heal, and Thick Fat, examples of walls are:

:sv/Mewtwo:
Mewtwo @ Covert Cloak / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Wandering Spirit
Hidden Power: Steel
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 140 Def / 1 SpA / 140 SpD / 67 Spe

IVs: 0 Spe
- Knock Off / Spectrial Thief / Salt Cure

- Heal Bell / Mortal Spin / Haze

:sv/Miraidon:

Ability: Ice Scales / Delta Stream
Hidden Power: Flying
Tera Type: Steel

Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Topsy-Turvy / Spectrial Thief
- Teleport / Parting Shot
- Rapid Spin / Mortal Spin / Knock Off
- Heal Order

Spinners / Spin Blockers
Another essential of Stall teams. Spinners are a term for Pokemon that have a way to remove entry hazards, could be either from Mortal Spin and Rapid Spin, these help Stall teams not get hindered by hazards themselves and can also provide extra utility in the case of Mortal Spin. Do note when using Stall consisting of Entry hazard Spam u do not want to run removal options like Defog and Tidy up.

Spin Blockers are the opposite of Spinners and try to stop Spinners, the best way to do this is through type combos, Steel + Ghost is the best typing for a spin blocker as it makes it immune to both Mortal and Rapid Spin, however u can opt for just one of these typings to make it cheaper and can try to scout and predict if the opponent has the other spin move depending on there switch-ins, alternatively taunt is another way to stop spinners who use Defog and Tidy up. Examples of both are:

:sv/Arceus-Fairy:
Arceus-Fairy @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Unaware
Hidden Power: Ghost
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 90 Def / 1 SpA / 90 SpD / 65 Spe

Regenerator
Regenerator is one of the most obvious viable ability in Balanced Createmons, due to the sheer fact of its versatility as it can fit on any mon, on defensive Pokemon it can allow them to pivot out while regaining their Hp, this makes it possible for some Pokemon to opt out of healing moves and be on full utility, or even use Assault Vest with Benefical Attacking moves like Mortal Spin. A common core you may fight in Bc is of Double Regen which take advantage of the fact that defensive Pokemon cannot damage them enough to keep coming in and regaining Hp. Example sets are the following;

:sv/Blissey:
The Sins in Pink (Blissey) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Hidden Power: Normal
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 50 Def / 1 SpA / 100 SpD / 58 Spe
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Rapid Spin
- Spectral Thief
- Stone Axe
- U-turn

:sv/Chansey:
Chansey (F) @ Covert Cloak / Clear Amulet
Ability: Regenerator
Hidden Power: Ghost
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 HP / 1 Atk / 80 Def / 1 SpA / 80 SpD / 61 Spe
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Ruination
- Knock Off / Wish
- Parting Shot
- Mortal Spin / Heal Bell / Mean Look

A Sample of Stall

:sv/Audino-Mega: :sv/Polteageist: :sv/Primarina: :sv/Goodra-Hisui: :sv/Houndoom-Mega: :sv/Solgaleo:
This Sample Team provided by ur non-productive Tier Leader sojukirin so thanks to him, a Standard Stall team with the usual purpose on hindering down the opponent and dealing damage in the form of Entry Hazards, this also functions as a PP stall team focusing on just staying on the field long enough so the opponent doesnt have any more reliable way to break through, The Double Poison Heal Core of Polteageist and Primarina act as our main way to deal chip damage with each one of them having useful utilities like Spikes, Haze and Knock Off in Polteageist, and Stealth Rock, Will-O-Wisp, and Pivoting in Flip Turn for Primarina.

Unaware Goodra-Hisui is our main dissuader of Offensive Pokemon with its great typing, ability to nullify the opposing Ability with Core Enforcer, and even having Topsy-Turvy as a extra mesurement against Setup. Thousand Waves also allows it to win the 1v1 against Imposter and isnt blocked by Covert Cloak like its counterparts. While, the Mega Houndoom is our Spin Blocker with its Ability Magic Bounce and also having Defog as sort of a last resort, Spectrial Thief also allows it stop Offensive Setup. and Finally to round out the team we have our Prankster Solgaleo to stop any rouge offensive Pokemon or setup sweeper that Mega Houndoom or the Others cannot Deal with.

How To Stall Correctly, The tactics of Patience.

As a wise man once said
" If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

Anyways lets get into some Tactics on how to stall correctly, so the main thing u want to do with Stall rely's on even before the match starts, On The preview, Identifying the biggest threats to your team on The Team Preview is very important, for an Example lets say u see an Water / Dark type Pokemon with middling Offenses, this could mean its an setup Pokemon that is using a expensive ability and will Probably be a Problem for our Hisuian Goodra due to it usually have both STAB coverages. This allows you to know what Pokemon u should worry about and not, and how to move accordingly to that

Secondly in Stall, Patience is Key, u do not want ur Defensive walls to get unnecessary upon them for rushing in for maybe a chance to chip them enough for a KO, u should not prioritize short term KO's when using Stall usually but focus on having more longevity, Smart management of ur PP especially on healing Moves, and try to maintain ur Entry Hazards for as long as you can and try to predict what the opposition's Spinner is using. In Stall u also need to be vary of Imposter, as Imposter is one of the few things that can stop progession of Stall and also can take advantage of ur Pokemon's utility and Healing moves for themselves untill u are Self Improofed

And Lastly in Stall u should try to control and force the opponent into making perferable moves, this can be in many ways as for example u can Predict Imposter switching in and switch to another Pokemon to force it out, this does become easier over turns but u should be careful of the element of Suprise especially early on.

Final Thoughts
Stall is truely a interesting phenomenon in Bc while being not considered the best by many, I hope you guys Learned something new about Stall today and how to Use it, i was originally planning on making this a bit longer by including stuff like the different kinds of Stall but this Post already took me a day (for example the spore post was like 9hours of work) so i think i need a break xd, THANK YOU to my beloved and awesome friends in Myz and GhastlyPixie for Helping me and Proof Reading this, ill probably be back in a couple of days with another big post but for now, Yoko Out.

I’m bored so I made some teams to dump here and see what people think of them.

Couldnt get the others mons photos but this team is an untested gimmick team using the ability mimicry on a traditionally dragon and electric mon. I wanted to build a team around Misty surge and I feel this one has potential to work. Iron valiant is self explanatory, trap, setup and destroy with fairy aura. Corv works as an improof for valiant. Fez is my improof for Zygarde as it resist Fairy moves and is immune to denergy.

Zygarde is cool because you have terrain pulse while the terrain is active and mimicry makes you a fairy type while Misty terrain is up. Then you got back to bring a dragon sweeper after.

Overall I had a lot of fun building this one.

This team is pretty self explanatory. Mostly immune to hazards, sets hazards, forces the opponent to switch, knocks off boots and diance cleans up late game while being improofed by zama just in case.

This team was a bit more tricky. Yveltal is an obvious setup pheal sweeper carrying tidy up for hazard removal whilst having burning bulwark to generate some health. Beak blast and knock off provide great support while dealing decent damage after setup. Mega Mewtwo-Y is one of my favorite mons I’ve made. It is a typical mguard sweeper carrying psycho boost, steel beam, headlong rush and volt tackle. This movepool is generally hard to switch into so it is really amazing coverage.

Zacian-C works as an improof to Mewtwo-Y as it resist all four moves and is immune to headlong which I found to be the most damage dealing move on the set. Zacian is amazing at trapping pheal users and then using worry seed to get rid of their ability ultimately killing the pheal mon.

Chansey is obvious. Giraff here was only put on this team to give me setup control but is also a decent pivot.

Mega Mewtwo-X is interesting it is a flash fire steel bug carrying an ability shield. The mon is another trapping mon as this team is anti-pheal and it carries worry seed. What I like about this mon is that it is completely self-proofed as it can trap imposter and then remove its ability ultimately killing it with v-create.

These are all the teams I have for now that I felt like sharing.

:amoonguss: Sleep has been a controversial topic for a while, mostly on offensive mons that can force switches or has few defined counters and thus capitalize heavily on their check being put to sleep. Some examples include Glimmer's Normal/Ground in their sample team, or Poison Heal setup sweepers. The best Sleep-inducing move in Spore could be blocked by Safety Goggles, but it is otherwise a mediocre item. Other sleep moves (and including Spore), could also be blocked or bounced by Good As Gold, Poison Heal, Magic Bounce, etc... but these abilities are very expensive and can't fit on every structure. Ultimately, Sleep-inducing moves have very few counterplay that you usually had to go out of your way to add in your team.

also...

The ComaTalk ban has been traded for a Comatose ban!

:komala: Comatose could be used in tandem with Sleep Talk to call negative priority moves, most notably phazing moves such as Whirlwind or Dragon Tail at normal priority, making it so that your opponent can never actually move unless if they use a priority move or are immune to phazing through ability or typing. In Generation 9 however, Comatose outside of ComaTalk is 99% outclassed by Purifying Salt as an ability, thus rendering it obsolete. Because of this, we can now clear up a complex ban and trade it for a ban with no collateral damage.

Synopsis: Use the power of Sub + trapping + setup to bullshit your way through anything without a hard check. The abilities are chosen to exhaust the most Sub setup checks as possible.

hey there. if you've been on the balanced createmons discord recently, you might know of a personal drama that happened between me and kirin, which ended up in me quitting the server (and by extension council) for good. the drama has already happened, and i don't regret any choices that i made during that day. i'm making this post to dump the rest of my teams before quitting this meta for good, at least until someone else actually competent and can manage shit well (esp the discord) takes over.

Solitaire
:zacian-crowned: :zacian: :mewtwo-mega-x: :mewtwo-mega-y: :mewtwo: :sobble:
see post above.

"sample 1 better"
:indeedee: :polteageist: :tapu-lele: :primarina: :aurorus: :darkrai:
i saw the new sample teams kirin posted and i thought to myself "wow these actually fucking suck" and i took a spin at making better versions of them outta spite.
"what does this do over the current sample?"
for one the defensive mons arent sit-in-one-place-and-do-nothing mons. counterplay versus imposter (especially toxic orb imposter which is the only real imposter tbh) is notably better. the sets also actually makes sense now.

the fog is coming
:whimsicott: :cherrim-sunshine: :sunflora: :lilligant: :serperior: :shiinotic:
tried to revamp sample #2 asw but it was so bad i ended up with an entirely different concept. pretty cool team, powerful mixed fairy guy + gag taunt setup + random other physical setup all immune to nuzzle and shit can't really go wrong.

Lost Delusion
:blaziken-mega: :arceus-rock: :flutter-mane: :kyogre-primal: :dialga-origin: :audino-mega:
HO that exploits these do nothing invested all into 1 spectrum defensive mons with subpass + mixed attacking stats. i think i got too carried away with the offensive core here though as the defensive core is pretty damn lackluster with not much gameplan if you can't win immediately. ban smash btw

Perfect Storm (remastered)
:rayquaza-mega: :mewtwo-mega-x: :wishiwashi: :feebas: :groudon-primal: :necrozma-ultra:
rain, now with setup and tiny bits of sustain. that's it.

"worst case scenario just dbond"
:regieleki: :deoxys-speed: :ninjask: :pheromosa: :calyrex-shadow: :alakazam-mega:
HO that utlizes the awesome power of lead eleki that nearly always takes a kill and epic ate guy and smash mixed guy and speed control and worst case scenario you just click dbond gg

that's all the teams i remember building since smpl, there could be more but i cba to find them cuz the server keeps deleting my teams for 0 reason.

anyways, balanced createmons was fun, for a while. i hope i get to play it again in an actually balanced slate, while being managed by not biased and actually competent people. goodbye!
ps. if no one else is willing to do it i'm willing to take over bc when kirin finally decides to give up

Following suite with RC, since I don’t really play this format much now. I’m gonna share some teams I’ve made for anyone who wants to use them.

This team is really just focused around sweeping with denergy erern and pixilate zacian. Zama improofs zacian and zacian improofs etern. And then you have mbounce Tina and prank aeg for support.

Team is simple. Double poison heal, self proofed gengar and scales/fur coat support. Regi is improofed by gengar and xer is self proofed and moreso for trapping and support with strength sap for trapped physical attackers.

1724450985626.png

This team is mostly stall based. Arc is prank haze with beak blast for phys mons, zygarde is a trapping fc who sets spikes and is self proofed, Nihelgo is a basic ice scales mon, Chansey is imp, Steela is regen stone axe, salt cure and hazard removal support and finally yveltal is a gag sub sweeper meant to trap and then just sweep. Only having rapid spin for removal can be problematic if you end up getting your boots knocked off but I feel it is fairly effective.

That’s all I have for now, I haven’t really even gotten to use these teams yet and probably won’t for a bit so may as well share them here.

Hi I’m here again dumping more teams (these ones slightly more niche) because I’m bored and have time.

This team is a mostly offensive team featuring prank glare regi steel and mbounce m-diance for support. Normalize flutter is strong into opposing offense if played correctly, pheal gyrados is self proofed excluding torb imp matchups and in general has decent coverage and with m-blaze I decided to just do something simple so life orb prank with dbond, taunt, close combat and v-create is what he became. Team can definitely struggle if you are facing a hazard stack team that is fairly offensive but if you play correctly it still stands a chance.

With the fact I’ve been posting a lot of pheal teams I felt it was cool to build an anti pheal team again. M-gyrados is here to pressure with knock and nuzzle (mold breaker to stop sticky hold and va) as well as topsy and heal order for support and longevity. Slaking improofs gyrados and you can change v-create to something else since it carries frustration for stab. The z crystal is to absorb knock could be firium-z instead and purify for knocked pheal users. Shed improofs slaking and supports with spikes/defog. Spec is a self proof stall sweeper and yveltal I wanted to have fun with so I made a self proofed pursuit sweeper (with tlens) yveltal is arguably extremely mid but I thought it was a fun set. Also carrying purify as this is anti pheal.

I was enjoying frustrations sets during this build so here’s gag sub sweeper regi (inspired by Tech) it is completely self proofed. Pheal xern is mainly here for trapping and setting up while stopping non normal type setups. Zacian-c is a primsea trapping mon with frend and knock for support and improofs darm.
Darm was a similar set to xern with trapping but needed shore up as it is also meant to be a defensive mon. With quiver dance and lava plume (to pressure burn) and terapagos is a simple defensive mon with spikes, defog, healing and twaves.

I really wanted to focus on trapping with this team but this team does struggle into hyper offense.

These are my mediocre teams of the day, until the next time I get bored.

https://pokepast.es/a91236a12ee1542c
brr made a team around expiramenting with mold breaker hadron and mguard as the attackers.
(also wtf happened? the dcord is dead? who's taking over? I wanna play this format a TON more but nobody is doing anything anymore)

https://pokepast.es/26114e38b85eb58b
update: managed to reduce some of the budget cutting by giving etern better defensive typing. because for some reason bug/steel is cheaper then pure steel even though 90% of the time it's a much better typing

What?
Pokemon's lowest base stat will be adjusted to its second lowest one when calculating stats point.
E.g. Pokemon with base stats 100/200/100/1/100/69 will be viewed as 100/200/100/69/100/69 when calculating stats point, where 1 is its lowest base stat and 69 the second lowest.
E.g. Pokemon with base stats 252/1/100/1/100/69 will not be affected by this since its lowest and second lowest base stats are both 1.

Why?
Desprite no big formula changes, the metagame has been more and more offensive overtime since last SMPL. Monsters with huge one-sided attack or special attack stat and mid abilities generally take over. To restrict such phenomenon, the algorithm of stats point is tweaked to prevent min-maxing in attack stats. Meanwhile defensive mons are mostly unaffected since a large part of them have their lowest 2 base stats in their attacks which are usually both 1.

Effects?
Actually offensive mons have ways to work around. For example people can have base stats like 1/200/252/1/252/69 to escape this min-maxing punishment. However Pokemon with such stats will easily be the underdog of Imposter. Generally I think the meta will be a bit more balanced and Imposter will be better. We will keep an eye on this and actively take action if anything goes wrong.
