Gen V Initial NU Metagame Thread

I've been toying around with Scarfed Exploud with Ice Beam, Fire Blast, Surf and Echoed Voice. The latter gets EXTREMELY powerful if your opponent does not bring in a counter quickly. However, Hyper Voice is still a very viable option on this set. This guy maxes out at 309 SpA with a Modest nature which is pretty decent in my opinion.

With Base 110 Sp Def It is a great wall. Especially in NU. I've been using it in UU and RU. It gives a great element of surprise.

Will-o-Wisp is more reliable than Lava Plume and Fire Fang hits harder (I believe). Of course, you lack a moveslot, but there are so many viable clerics in this tier (Leafeon, Gardevoir, Altaria, Lickilicky, Roselia and Lanturn come to mind, with Alomomola as an alternative WishPasser), that you can easily afford another teamslot.

Speaking of Lanturn, it walls that Flame Charge Magmortar set hardcore... Modest Hidden Power Grass/Ground doesn't 2HKO all Lanturn (namely those that invest in SpD and it needn't even be that much), either, and you get walled by Altaria. So make sure Lanturn is out of the way if you want to use that.
Modest TBolt is doesn't guarantee a 2HKO on Max/Max Calm Lefties Slowking either (without rocks/spikes). I don't know how to calculate the chances, but it deals 49.75% (what a troll) to 58.38%.

first, sweep with flareon. you are mostly going to be spamming flame charge. but the time a counter comes in, or by the time you are walled, (or super low on health) you will have grabbed 2,3 speed boosts. at that time, BATON PASS onto ursaring. now it is at +2 and guts activated. if you feel gutsy use swords dance and sweep. beautiful.
 
tsk tsk. thats why you use flame charge on a weakened slow bulky poke or something that is super weak to fire and is scared.

Or you could use quick feet ursarang and not have to switch it in, because ursarang isn't taking any hits. Even without guts, facade still wrecks everything that doesn't resist it.

Base 65+ Scarfers and base 120's like Swellow and Dugtrio still outspeed it and stop its fun. And even if you do outspeed, it's hard to put dents in most things when you're relying on Flame Charge for damage.

In all honesty, Swellow is better than both of them outside of Klinklang and Magneton, which really aren't as common as everyone says they are.
 
ummm.. you obviously havent seen flareon in action. it has 591 attack.

it ohkoes standard jellicent with rocks and 3 layers of spikes... with BITE.

And obviously, there are no Jellicents in NU. And saying that it needs 36% prior damage isnt really that great either

Unfortunately, EQ leaves you open to Altaria. Unless you use HP Ice, too, but then Slowking has a field day.
It's not like it's a bad thing, since every sweeper gets walled by something. Flame Charge/Fire Blast/HP Ice/Earthquake certainly doesn't sound bad with TSpikes support to beat Slowking. Keep in mind you take LO recoil from using Flame Charge, though.

NU is diverse, so as long as you carry something on your team that can deal with Altaria, Slowking or Lanturn respectively then you should be fine. :)
