..on team building?

Most people seem to just go "oh, he's over used, he's in for sure", rinse and repeat while they look for over used versions of walls/tanks/phasers/sweepers.

But Surgo posted an excellent thread here:

However I don't see many people following it, so I'm wondering what's really more effective.. creating a team full of standard dudes, or basing your team around a certain strategy/pokemon?

Because to be quite honest, I don't really feel like seeing the same 10 or so guys like I did last gen.

oh you wont see the same 10 from last gen, you will see 5 of them and 5 new ones lol

honestly, the best team is to pick strong pokemon with somewhat of a strategy

the most rewarding team is always one that contains pokemon you like in my opinion and trying to make them work even if they aren't in the top level, this can only go so far-sorry if your favorite is beedrill or lumineon

True, it's just annoying to think there's so many pokemon and a good majority of them are useable for competitive matches but people just stick to like, Blissey/Skarmory/Metagross/Garchomp and friends.

Using standards and using strategy are not mutually exclusive, something that seems to be oft-forgotten in the reading and replies to my thread that you linked.

This thread is pointless. Understand that standards and strategy are not mutually exclusive. It's also given us gems like:
Building the "perfect" team is pointless if you don't care for the pokemon you are using
For the love of God, this isn't fucking Serebii.
