General Fighting Game Discussion

SCV got good netcode, but HDR and BlazBlue are still better in that department by the end.

By far the best for a 3D game though.

^I was going to post the same thing.

Cross Assault roster means exactly dick compared to the possibility of HD GGAC if it gets console ported

Was gonna say the same thing. Definitely going to make an effort to get good at that game even if it doesn't have good netcode, which... it will, because ASW has pretty solid netcode! ^_^

Yeah, pretty much. It's going to be interesting to see how that team holds up as the metagame evolves though (I have Zero in mind specifically here).

For those watching Cross Assault, this combo challenge is seriously messed up. Team Tekken's "most damaging combo" was Balrog doing a max turn punch. <___________<

Good thing I'm not watching Cross Assault then. ^_^; In all seriousness I'm sure it's entertaining or whatever, but I prefer the games themselves to really be the focal point, and the drama and "characters" more as supplements. It's just sort of distasteful to me that the scene is pushing all this "celebrity" stuff so hard, even though I recognize that it's completely useful in its overall development. Also I watch enough streams as it is, ha.

Would like some of y'all's "professional" opinion:
Assuming I will only have enough money for one, should I get SCV now, or BBCS when it comes out?

IMO, it depends if you like the 1-player mode. If you do, SCV might not be for you seeing as it's very bland and seems unfinished. On the other hand, if you prefer online mode (which you should if buying a fighting game), I'd suggest buying SCV as it's way more complex, balanced, and skill-rewarding - even if it's a little harder to lean - than BBCS.

you're a cool dude IMO

this is the biggest problem with the fg community right now. all this esports bullshit is for the viewer, not the player.

The games itself are the focal point, but that's why it's kinda boring. The streams are usually ~8 hours long, and like 90% of that is them practicing. I just tune in for the 10% of challenges/matches when I can, but I still don't know why they chose who they did to play. Some of these people are still terrible despite spending a decent amount of time with the game.

If you have a local scene, find out what they play and just go with that lol. Otherwise, totally depends on what your background in fighting games is and what you want to get out of them. Generally speaking they're probably both good purchases though.

90% of the time I'm just watching the archives, but I'll try to log on more or something. >_>

Wow, this is really weird and terrible.

Like it was 150% obvious that it was "staged" from the start when they were just throwing potshots at eachother on their shows, but I felt like it was this playful, "wink to the viewers" sort of thing. And then people started believing it for some reason. Which I think is fine, but it seems like Jago/Ross seriously saw that as an opportunity to sort of exploit people, which is not fine.

I don't think the situation is as awful as it looks, but I'm tentatively glad that this happened the way that it did. But I don't know how updated I actually am on the situation so there might be more to it than I'm aware of?

People speculating because of the 'it's not about the playing anymore it's about the paper' comment, that the Mike Ross vs Jago ft5 on Cross Assault was fixed, too.

I didn't watch it but apparently Jago lost to mike 0-5.

It's whatever to me, tbh.. I'm not really involved in the scene as far as capcom games go, anyway, but, this whole esports, tv drama bullshit is going to turn something good into a gimmick and I'm not ok with that.
