Battle Spot Glalie

[SET]
name: Standard Moody Sweeper
move 1: Protect
move 2: Substitute
move 3: Freeze Dry
move 4: Sheer Cold
item: Leftovers
ability: Moody
nature: Timid
evs: 174 HP / 84 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Despite the change to Moody preventing Glalie from gaining evasion boosts, Glalie's role has remained largely the same in Sword & Shield. Protect and Substitute allow Glalie to gain boosts safely, and Freeze-Dry is its best STAB option, hitting Dragapult and Hydreigon, as well as Rotom-W, Toxapex and Gyarados super effectively. Sheer Cold allows Glalie to power through Steel-types such as Aegislash, Corviknight, and Ferrothorn more easily. Maximum Speed EVs allow Glalie to boost on as many Pokemon as possible. The HP number is optimal for Leftovers recovery, and the rest are dumped into Defense due to the Metagame being physically oriented. Glalie appreciates paralysis support from Pokemon like Grimmsnarl to facilitate its setup.

Lastly, it should be noted that, whilst the Moody nerf hits Glalie significantly, Glalie will now get an average of +3 in every stat when it is out of Substitute + Protect PP as opposed to an average of +2.14. This does not take into account extra turns (and therefore boosts) gained by the foe missing, though.

The only thing I'd consider adding is maybe a sentence of paralysis support (mainly Grimmsnarl or Sandaconda, but especially the former if you're only gonna mention 1). Otherwise , QC Approved 1/2!

Despite the change to Moody (RC) preventing Glalie from gaining evasion boosts, Glalie's role has remained largely the same in Sword & Shield Battle Stadium Singles. (technically shouldn't reference generational mechanics change but since it's a preview meh) Protect and Substitute allow Glalie to gain boosts safely, and Freeze-Dry is the its best STAB option, hitting Dragapult and Hydreigon, whilst also hitting as well as Rotom-Wash, Toxapex, (AC) and Gyarados super effectively. Sheer Cold allows Glalie to power through Steel-types (AH) such as Aegislash, Corviknight, (AC) and Ferrothorn easier More easily. The EVs are Maximum Speed EVs so you can allow Glalie to boost on the most possible as many Pokemon as possible. The HP number is optimal for Leftovers recovery, with and the rest are dumped into Defence Defense. (why?) Glalie appreciates paralysis support from Pokemon like Grimmsnarl to facilitate its setup.

Lastly, it should be noted that, (AC) whilst the Moody nerf hits Glalie significantly, Glalie will now get an average of +3 in every stat at the end of sub/protect stalling when it is out of Substitute + Protect PP as opposed to an average of +2.14. This does not take into account extra turns (and therefore boosts) gained by the opponent foe missing, (AC) though.

Made the changes. So it is Done

I've added a bit on why Glalie dumps into Defence but it doesn't comprehensively explain it. In generation 7 you used spdef investment because of porygon2 and mega alakazam download boost (though that in itself wasnt neccesary in the formers case outside of niche situations). Nowadays the reasoning you put in defence is mainly because of the nature of the metagame itself being generally physically based so you are more likely to be faced up vs. physical attackers.
