[SET]
name: Standard Moody Sweeper
move 1: Protect
move 2: Substitute
move 3: Freeze Dry
move 4: Sheer Cold
item: Leftovers
ability: Moody
nature: Timid
evs: 174 HP / 84 Def / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Despite the change to Moody preventing Glalie from gaining evasion boosts, Glalie's role has remained largely the same in Sword & Shield. Protect and Substitute allow Glalie to gain boosts safely, and Freeze-Dry is its best STAB option, hitting Dragapult and Hydreigon, as well as Rotom-W, Toxapex and Gyarados super effectively. Sheer Cold allows Glalie to power through Steel-types such as Aegislash, Corviknight, and Ferrothorn more easily. Maximum Speed EVs allow Glalie to boost on as many Pokemon as possible. The HP number is optimal for Leftovers recovery, and the rest are dumped into Defense due to the Metagame being physically oriented. Glalie appreciates paralysis support from Pokemon like Grimmsnarl to facilitate its setup.
Lastly, it should be noted that, whilst the Moody nerf hits Glalie significantly, Glalie will now get an average of +3 in every stat when it is out of Substitute + Protect PP as opposed to an average of +2.14. This does not take into account extra turns (and therefore boosts) gained by the foe missing, though.
