Gliscor (Classic)

How important is it that you be able to tackle other Gliscor with Ice Fang? As far as I can tell (which is not very far), Fire Fang would be a better choice because it hits Excadrill harder, 3HKO's Ferrothorn and 3HKO's Forretress after Stealth Rock, and it hits Conkeldurr for the same ammount of damage as Ice Fang. You're giving up 4x SE on Gliscor, dealing NVE damage to Terrakion (who still takes plenty from EQ once it's lost the Air Balloon, which Fire Fang will still cause), and losing any chance of defeating Air Balloon Heatran (who will likely defeat Gliscor 1-on-1 anyway). IMO, it at least deserves a mention.

Set has been updated slightly according to feedback. I assume that SDS meant to Ice Fang was no longer worthy of a slash since there's not as much need to break Balloons any more, and Dragonite can probably deal with it anyways with the new bulky sets.

Also, I'm going to give Fire Fang a miss for now. It's probably best off staying in the OO since Classic Gliscor doesn't use it exceptionally well, and it's mostly a niche option.

I think that it would be important for you to say the specific threats that Roost Gliscor can handle better than Poison Heal Gliscor, as to give more reason for people to use it besides being able to have 50% recovery in a move and the ability to set up stealth rocks, along with the chance of a lucky miss, as that has always been a big question in my mind when considering to use this over Poison Heal Gliscor. Gliscor is primarly a defensive Pokemon and therefore you really want to know the threats that it handles well.

I agree with Ace Combat. It's gonna take a lot more reasoning to actually use the classic set over the new set. The classic set has more trouble with Breloom, while the new set deals with it easily. Secondly, the new set has status protection. Thirdly, although the classic set has roost, the new set has Poison heal, which means that it doesn't have to waste a move slot on a recovery move. I don't see that this set is relevant anymore.

Okay, duly noted. The pokemon that Roost Gliscor deals better with include some variants of Dragonite (if you have Ice Fang or Toxic), Choice Band Tyranitar (that lacks Ice Beam), Haxorus, Salamence, and Toxicroak that lack Ice Punch I guess. In retrospect this set doesn't have a lot of merit against Gliscor's common targets, and since I'm probably going to leave Smogon for unrelated reasons once this is cleared, I'm happy for QC to reject this.

Dunno, don't really see why I'd run this variant of Gliscor seeing as Poison Heal Gliscor is essentially better in most cases. Iconic summed up my thoughts well with his post. Without Poison Heal, you're wasting an extra move-slot on Roost for recovery, whereas one could opt to use Swords Dance, Ice Fang, or whatever when using Poison Heal. Roost also makes Gliscor more susceptible to losing against the likes of Conkeldurr, Breloom, etc. since they can catch you for a neutral / super effective hit as you Roost (Drain Punch in the case of Conk, Seed Bomb in the case of Breloom). Speaking of Breloom, you aren't immune to its Spore anymore, or any status for that matter, when using Sand Veil.

I suppose this set has merit in 1) Stealth Rock unlike Poison Heal Gliscor and 2) Being able to Roost versus the likes of Terrakion (I'd say Excadrill too but it's banned now obviously). Though, I don't think that warrants this set an entire analysis. I would honestly just give this a brief Other Options section in the on-site Gliscor analysis and explain the benefits / advantages it has over Poison Heal Gliscor.

QC REJECTED (1/3)
