[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Golem holds a unique position in the ZU metagame as a strong wallbreaker that can trap Steel-types such as Bronzor and Mawile thanks to its ability, Magnet Pull, paving the way for teammates like Exeggutor and Muk to sweep teams. Its solid Attack stat and access to coverage options in Fire Punch and Earthquake cement it as the most reliable Magnet Pull trapper in the tier, with its consistency at taking out Bronzor giving it a notable advantage over its main competition in Probopass. Alolan Golem is also able to perform sufficiently well even after Steel-types are no longer present, functioning as both a powerful wallbreaker and a slow pivot with the use of Volt Switch. However, Alolan Golem suffers from a poor Speed stat that leaves it susceptible to strong attackers such as Exeggutor, Torterra and Simipour. Alolan Golem also has a poor typing defensively, giving it weaknesses to a variety of common types, including a 4x weakness to Ground and a 2x weakness to Water and Grass. Finally, Alolan Golem suffers from some competition with Probopass, which offers additional utility as a Magnet Pull trapper thanks to its notably higher defensive stats, allowing it to better perform as a Stealth Rock setter and defensive pivot.

Moves
========

Fire Punch is Alolan Golem's most effective move for taking out Bronzor and also serves to hit Torterra, which would otherwise wall this set.
Earthquake is a more powerful coverage option that hits many Steel-types harder than Fire Punch does, including Mawile and Probopass. Earthquake also wards off physically defensive Pokemon such as Golem, which may aim to switch into a predicted Stone Edge or Volt Switch. Finally, Volt Switch allows Alolan Golem to pivot out of unfavorable matchups, catching the likes of Silvally-Fighting and Machoke as they switch in and bringing teammates in against faster targets without forcing them to take any unnecessary damage.

Set Details
========

Choice Band gives Alolan Golem the power necessary to 2HKO defensive behemoths like Avalugg and Pyukumuku with Stone Edge. Magnet Pull is vital for Alolan Golem to perform its main role of removing Steel-types like Bronzor.

Usage Tips
========

Alolan Golem's primary role is to remove defensive Steel-types, so you should look for opportunities to bring it in safely. While Alolan Golem can sometimes be switched directly into status moves such as Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave, you can also make use of double switches or U-turn or Volt Switch users to bring in Alolan Golem. In addition to trapping Steel-types, Alolan Golem can also take advantage of passive Pokemon such as Altaria and Choice-locked Pokemon like Wild Charge Electivire and Double-Edge Silvally to find opportunities to fire off a powerful Stone Edge. In these situations, if the opponent has a physically bulky Pokemon such as Poliwrath or Machoke, Volt Switch can be used instead to maintain momentum and safely bring in teammates that can further threaten the opponent's team. When expecting a Ground-type to switch in, you should look to maintain momentum by performing a double switch or, if possible, catching said Ground-type with a super effective coverage move. Notable examples of this include using Fire Punch to hit Torterra and Earthquake to hit Golem. Be careful of locking into moves that can be taken advantage of by setup sweepers like Rock Polish Torterra and Swords Dance Combusken, however.

Team Options
========

Alolan Golem works best when paired with Pokemon that appreciate defensive Steel-types being removed. For example, Psychic-types like Beheeyem and Grass-types such as Servine and Torterra greatly appreciate Alolan Golem's ability to remove Probopass and Bronzor, respectively. Alolan Golem can be paired with pivots like Rotom-S, Silvally-Fighting, and Silvally-Dragon to create a deadly VoltTurn core; Rotom-S is able to act as a check to Water- and Grass-types like Swanna, Poliwrath, and Torterra that force Alolan Golem out, while Silvally-Fighting checks Golem and can lure in defensive Pokemon such as Bronzor and Gourgeist-XL before punishing them with U-turn or Toxic. Finally, Silvally-Dragon is able to compensate for Alolan Golem's weakness to Grass-type attacks by checking Grass-type Pokemon like Servine and Leafeon. All of these Pokemon are able to clear entry hazards for Alolan Golem and greatly appreciate its ability to eliminate Steel-types such as Metang and Bronzor, allowing them to use Defog more reliably. In addition to Grass-types, Alolan Golem's defensive typing also leaves it vulnerable to Ground- and Water-types. Exeggutor and Mareanie are examples of Pokemon that can help offset these weaknesses, with Exeggutor reliably checking Ground-types like Sandslash and Torterra, and Mareanie handling fast Water-types like Floatzel and Simipour.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Wild Charge is a viable option over Volt Switch, trading the ability to pivot for a stronger secondary STAB option that is notable for OHKOing Mareanie. Alolan Golem can also use Galvanize to gain access to a strong Electric-type Return, Double-Edge, or Explosion. However, without Magnet Pull, this set is largely outclassed by regular Golem, which has a better typing both offensively and defensively and is less predictable as a result of its greater set versatility. Alolan Golem can also run a more utility-based Stealth Rock set alongside Air Balloon or Leftovers as the item of choice, but this set is outclassed by Probopass due to the latter's superior stats and defensive typing.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Alolan Golem has a hard time breaking past Ground-types, as they resist Stone Edge and can block Volt Switch. While Golem and Torterra are averse to switching into Earthquake or Fire Punch directly, both deter Alolan Golem from using Stone Edge. Sandslash and Silvally-Ground outspeed Alolan Golem and can comfortably take any of its attacks at least once, making them solid switch-ins. Vibrava is especially notable for being able to tank any of Alolan Golem's attacks and freely heal off any damage with Roost.

**Fighting-types**: Bulky Fighting-types like Machoke, Poliwrath, and Silvally-Fighting take negligible damage from Stone Edge and can take advantage of the gained momentum to cripple Alolan Golem's teammates with Knock Off, Scald, or Toxic. Combusken can't switch into Alolan Golem, but it can set up Swords Dance if Alolan Golem locks itself into Fire Punch.

**Grass-types**: While only Torterra can comfortably take Stone Edge, Leafeon and Torterra are both able to deter Alolan Golem from locking itself into Earthquake by threatening to set up with Swords Dance or Rock Polish and heal off any damage taken with Synthesis. Exeggutor and Simisage are also able to take advantage of Alolan Golem's low Speed and Grass-type weakness by threatening it out with STAB Leaf Storm.

**Faster Pokemon**: Alolan Golem's poor Speed leaves it vulnerable to being revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Electivire, Komala, and Bouffalant that use super effective moves such as Earthquake. Alolan Golem's poor special bulk also leaves it easily forced out by strong special attackers such as Simipour and Swanna.

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Golem holds a unique position in the ZU metagame as a strong breaker that can trap Steel-types such as Bronzor and Mawile thanks to its ability Magnet Pull, paving the way for teammates like Exeggutor and Muk to sweep teams. In addition, a solid Attack stat and access to a strong STAB move in Stone Edge allows Alolan Golem to perform sufficiently well even after Steel-types are no longer on the field. Mention that it is a better trapper than Probopass due to its ability to more consistently trap Steel-types due to that power and great coverage. Also, should mention that its low Speed makes it an effect slow pivot with Volt Switch. However, Alolan Golem suffers from a poor Speed stat that leaves it susceptible to would-be targets such as offensive Mawile and Bouffalant Even though I get the meaning here, the sentence structure and examples can be improved considering Mawile isn't usually offensive and loses the 1v1 trade. I.e removed "would-be targets" and simply mentioning Pokemon that naturally outspeed it and can OHKO it like Silvally-Ground, Simipour, and Exeggutor. Alolan Golem also has a notably poor typing defensively, giving it weaknesses to a variety of common types including a 4x weakness to Ground and a 2x weakness to Water and Grass-type attacks. Finally, Alolan Golem suffers from competition with Probopass who offers additional utility as a Magnet Pull trapper by providing teammates with Stealth Rock support, as well as possessing notably more defensive capabilities. However, Alolan Golem's superior power and independence from Z-Crystals gives it strong advantages over its moustached rival. Avoid adding a positive point where there are negative points because analyses keep them distinct (first half should mention that Alolem is the better trapper and why).

Needs to be in bullet points because the analysis is not at qc 2/3 yet.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Stone Edge is Alolan Golem's strongest STAB option and allows Alolan Golem to put out heavy damage against the majority of the tier, frightening out slow, physically frail Pokemon such as Assault Vest Komala and Kecleon. Fluff
  • Fire Punch is Alolan Golem's most effective move for taking out Bronzor and also serves to hit Torterra, who would otherwise wall this set.
  • Earthquake is a more powerful coverage option that hits many Steel-types harder than Fire Punch would, including Mawile and Probopass. Earthquake also wards off physically defensive Pokemon such as Golem and Stunfisk which may aim to switch into a predicted Stone Edge or Volt Switch.
  • Volt Switch allows Alolan Golem to pivot out of unfavourable matchups and bring teammates in without taking any unnecessary damage. Give examples of those switch-ins.

Set Details
========

  • Full investment into Attack and Speed allows Alolan Golem to perform as effectively as possible, with Choice Band giving it the power necessary to 2HKO defensive behemoths such as Gourgeist-Super and Pyukumuku with Stone Edge.
  • Magnet Pull is vital for Alolan Golem to perform its main role of removing Steel-types like Bronzor, and thus is chosen over Galvanize or Sturdy.

Usage Tips
========

Alolan Golem's primary role is to remove defensive Steel types, and as such should be played towards this goal. Against Bronzor, Alolan Golem can typically freely switch in and take it out, as Bronzor's passive nature offers no real threat to Alolan Golem. Against other Steel-types however more prudence can sometimes be necessary. For example, Probopass is capable of taking out Alolan Golem with Earth Power as Alolan Golem switches in, and Metang is able to tank an Earthquake from Alolan Golem and fire back with an Earthquake of its own. Defensive variants of Mawile typically do not present a threat to Alolan Golem, however offensive variants can 2HKO Alolan Golem with Play Rough or Iron Head. It is often a good idea to scout out an opposing Steel-type Pokemon's set first for Ground-type coverage, or to bring Alolan Golem into battle safely using free turns provided by slow pivots or fainted Pokemon.

Need to be in bullets. Rather than detail how each Steel-type can potentially play around Alolan Golem, the usage tips should condense that information and expand more on how Alolan Golem plays. For example, the usage tips should go into more detail on how Alolan Golem plays as a wallbreaker because more often than not it acts as a breaker and a trapper rather than only a trapper. Should also mention the aspects of slow pivoting with VSwitch.

Team Options
========

Alolan Golem works best when paired with Pokemon that appreciate defensive Steel types being removed from the field. For example, Psychic and Grass-types such as Beheeyem, Exeggutor and Torterra greatly appreciate Alolan Golem's ability to remove Probopass and Bronzor respectively. Alolan Golem can also create a deadly VoltTurn core alongside Silvally-Fighting, who can check Golem and Torterra for Alolan Golem when using Ice Beam, while Alolan Golem handles Bronzor and Mawile in return; two Stealth Rock users that Silvally-Fighting otherwise struggles to use Defog against.

Need to be in bullets. Silvally-Fighting is not an ideal Torterra check, so mention an additional pivot such as Rotom-S and restructure the line about voltturn cores. Should also mention Pokemon that can switch into Ground-, Water-, and Grass-types because it appreciates teammates covering those weaknesses.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Wild Charge and Explosion are both options over Volt Switch. The former provides a stronger secondary STAB option that is notable for OHKOing Mareanie, while Explosion is a one-time, all around nuke that can be used to put massive damage on a single target after Alolan Golem has outlived its usefulness. Remove Explosion as it does not really hit much and is generally not worth using over Volt Switch or even Wild Charge on a CB set.
  • Alolan Golem can use Galvanize to gain access to a strong Electric-type Return, Double-Edge or Explosion. However, without Magnet Pull this set is largely outclassed by Alolan Golem's Kanto equivalent, who has a stronger typing both offensively and defensively and is less predictable due to the more conventional Stealth Rock set.

Checks and Counters
===================

Ground-types: Alolan Golem has a hard time breaking past Ground-Types, as they are resistant to Stone Edge and can block Volt Switch. While Golem and Torterra are averse to switching into Earthquake or Fire Punch directly, both deter Alolan Golem from clicking Stone Edge. Sandslash and Silvally-Ground outspeed Alolan Golem and can comfortably take any of its attacks at least once, making them solid switchins. Vibrava is especially notable for being able to tank any of Alolan Golem's attacks and freely heal off any damage with Roost.

Faster Pokemon: Alolan Golem's poor defensive typing leaves it vulnerable to super effective moves such as Earthquake, making it very easy to revenge kill with the use of faster Pokemon such as Electivire, Komala and Bouffalant. Similarly, Alolan Golem is lacking in Special Defense and as such can be forced out by strong Special Attackers including Exeggutor, Simipour and Swanna. The category says faster Pokemon but your initial line refers to Alolem's poor defensive typing, so be sure to first mention Alolem's poor Speed and then the faster Pokemon that can OHKO it.

Set-Up Sweepers:
While none can directly switch into Alolan Golem safely, setup sweepers such as Combusken and Torterra are able to take advantage of an Alolan Golem locked into Fire Punch or Earthquake and set up using boosting moves such as Swords Dance and Rock Polish.

This category fits better if split up into **Grass-types** and **Fighting-types** as they can usually check Alolem reliably.

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Golem holds a unique position in the ZU metagame as a strong wallbreaker that can trap Steel-types such as Bronzor and Mawile thanks to its ability, (AC) Magnet Pull, paving the way for teammates like Exeggutor and Muk to sweep teams. Its solid Attack stat and access to coverage options in Fire Punch and Earthquake cement it as the most reliable Magnet Pull trapper in the tier, with its consistency at taking out Bronzor giving it a notable advantage over its main competition in Probopass. Alolan Golem is also able to perform sufficiently well even after Steel-types are no longer on the field present ("not on the field" doesn't mean "fainted"), not only functioning as a powerful wallbreaker but also as a slow pivot with the use of Volt Switch. However, Alolan Golem suffers from a poor Speed stat that leaves it susceptible to strong attackers such as Exeggutor, Torterra, (AC) and Simipour. Alolan Golem also has a poor typing defensively, giving it weaknesses to a variety of common types, (AC) including a 4x weakness to Ground and a 2x weakness to Water and Grass-type attacks. Finally, Alolan Golem suffers from some competition with Probopass, (AC) who which offers additional utility as a Magnet Pull trapper thanks to its notably higher defensive stats, allowing it to better perform as a Stealth Rock setter or and defensive pivot.

Moves
========

Fire Punch is Alolan Golem's most effective move for taking out Bronzor and also serves to hit Torterra, who which would otherwise wall this set.
Earthquake is a more powerful coverage option that hits many Steel-types harder than Fire Punch would does, including Mawile and Probopass. Earthquake also wards off physically defensive Pokemon such as Golem, (AC) which may aim to switch into a predicted Stone Edge or Volt Switch. Finally, Volt Switch allows Alolan Golem to pivot out of unfavourable unfavorable matchups, catching the likes of Silvally-Fighting and Machoke as they switch in and bringing teammates in against faster targets without forcing them to take any unnecessary damage.

Set Details
========

Full investment into Attack and Speed allows Alolan Golem to perform as effectively as possible, with (filler) Choice Band giving it gives Alolan Golem the power necessary to 2HKO defensive behemoths like Avalugg and Pyukumuku with Stone Edge. Magnet Pull is vital for Alolan Golem to perform its main role of removing Steel-types like Bronzor, and thus is chosen over Galvanize or and Sturdy.

Usage Tips
========

Alolan Golem's primary role is to remove defensive Steel-(AH)types, and as such, (AC) you should look for opportunities to bring it in safely. While Alolan Golem can sometimes be switched directly into status moves such as Stealth Rock or Thunder Wave, you can also make use of double switches or pivot into Alolan Golem with U-turn or Volt Switch users. In addition to trapping Steel-types, Alolan Golem can also abuse take advantage of ("abuse" is a banned word) passive Pokemon such as Altaria and Choice-locked Pokemon like Wild Charge Electivire and Double-Edge Silvally to find opportunities to fire off a powerful Stone Edge. In these situations, if the opponent has a physically bulky Pokemon such as Poliwrath or Machoke, Volt Switch can be used instead to maintain momentum and safely bring in teammates that can further threaten the opponent's team. When expecting a Ground-type to switch in, you should look to maintain momentum either by performing a double switch, or, if possible, catching said Ground-type with a super effective coverage move. Notable examples of this include using Fire Punch to hit Torterra (RC) or and Earthquake to hit Golem. Be careful of locking into moves that can be taken advantage of by set-up setup sweepers like Rock Polish Torterra or Swords Dance Combusken, however, as Stone Edge, Earthquake and Fire Punch can all be abused (the player can look at the opponent's team and deduce this for themselves).

Team Options
========

Alolan Golem works best when paired with Pokemon that appreciate defensive Steel-(AH)types being removed from the field. For example, Psychic-types like Beheeyem and Grass-types such as Servine and Torterra greatly appreciate Alolan Golem's ability to remove Probopass and Bronzor, (AC) respectively. Alolan Golem can be paired with pivot users pivots like Rotom-Fan Rotom-S, Silvally-Fighting, and Silvally-Dragon to create a deadly VoltTurn core; Rotom-Fan Rotom-S is able to act as a check to Water- and Grass-types like Swanna, Poliwrath, (AC) and Torterra that force Alolan Golem out, while Silvally-Fighting checks Golem and can lure in defensive Pokemon such as Bronzor and Gourgeist-XL before punishing them with U-turn and Toxic, (AC) respectively. Finally, Silvally-Dragon is able to compensate for Alolan Golem's weakness to Grass-type attacks by checking Grass-type Pokemon like Servine and Leafeon. All of these Pokemon are able to clear entry hazards for Alolan Golem and greatly appreciate Alolan Golem's ability to eliminate Steel-types such as Metang and Bronzor, allowing them to use Defog more reliably. In addition to Grass-types, Alolan Golem's defensive typing also leaves it vulnerable to Water- and Ground-types Ground- and Water-types (changed order to match next sentence). To resolve this, other Pokemon that can offset these weaknesses are recommended. (filler; it's already clear what you're getting at) Exeggutor and Mareanie are examples of Pokemon that can help offset these weaknesses, with Exeggutor reliably checking Ground-types like Sandslash and Torterra and Mareanie handling fast Water-types like Floatzel and Simipour.

Other Options
=============

Wild Charge is a viable option over Volt Switch, trading the ability to pivot for a stronger secondary STAB option that is notable for OHKOing Mareanie. Alolan Golem can also use Galvanize to gain access to a strong Electric-type Return, Double-Edge, (AC) or Explosion STAB move. However, without Magnet Pull, (AC) this set is largely outclassed by Alolan Golem's Kanto equivalent regular Golem, who which has a stronger typing both offensively and defensively and is less predictable due to the more conventional Stealth Rock set it can run (this is worded weirdly-- i think you want "due to its greater set versatility"). Alolan Golem can also run a more utility-(AH)based Stealth Rock set alongside Air Balloon or Leftovers as the item of choice, but this set is outclassed by Probopass due to its the latter's superior stats and typing defensively defensive typing.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Alolan Golem has a hard time breaking past Ground-types, as they are resistant to resist Stone Edge and can block Volt Switch. While Golem and Torterra are averse to switching into Earthquake or Fire Punch directly, both deter Alolan Golem from clicking using Stone Edge. Sandslash and Silvally-Ground outspeed Alolan Golem and can comfortably take any of its attacks at least once, making them solid switch-(AH)ins. Vibrava is especially notable for being able to tank any of Alolan Golem's attacks and freely heal off any damage with Roost.

**Fighting-types**: Bulky Fighting-types like Machoke, Poliwrath, and Silvally-Fighting take negligible (typo) damage from Stone Edge and can take advantage of the gained momentum to cripple Alolan Golem's teammates with Knock Off, Scald, (AC) and or Toxic. Combusken can't switch into Alolan Golem, but can set up Swords Dance if Alolan Golem locks itself into Fire Punch.

**Grass-types**: While only Torterra can comfortably take Stone Edge, Leafeon and Torterra are both able to deter Alolan Golem from locking itself into Earthquake by threatening to set (RH)up with Swords Dance or Rock Polish and healing heal off any damage taken with Synthesis. Exeggutor and Simisage are also able to take advantage of Alolan Golem's low Speed and Grass-type weakness by threatening it out with a STAB Leaf Storm.

**Faster Pokemon**: Alolan Golem's poor Speed leaves it vulnerable to super effective moves such as Earthquake, making it prone to (moved; its typing, not speed, makes it vulnerable to earthquake) being revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Electivire, Komala, (AC) and Bouffalant that use super effective moves such as Earthquake. Alolan Golem also has poor special bulk that leaves it easily forced out by strong special attackers such as Simipour and Swanna.

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Golem holds a unique position in the ZU metagame as a strong wallbreaker that can trap Steel-types such as Bronzor and Mawile thanks to its ability (RC) Magnet Pull, paving the way for teammates like Exeggutor and Muk to sweep teams. Its solid Attack stat and access to coverage options in Fire Punch and Earthquake cement it as the most reliable Magnet Pull trapper in the tier, with its consistency at taking out Bronzor giving it a notable advantage over its main competition in Probopass. Alolan Golem is also able to perform sufficiently well even after Steel-types are no longer present, not only functioning as both a powerful wallbreaker but also as and (parallelism error + more logical nuance) a slow pivot with the use of Volt Switch.
