Anyone know what pokemon would complement Porygon2 well in a three man defensive core? with Pory2 being the mixed wall. I run

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SDef
Bold Nature
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
- Thunder Wave

this gives Pory2 equal defenses, with Eviolite bringing both defenses to an amazing 396 backed by his 374 HP. I've been wracking my mind on what core he could fit on but haven't found any good pokemon that would complete the core

I suggest gliscor, it resist fighting, immune to ground, and above all, doesn't afraid a knock off or trick, the nemesis of eviolites provided it was already poisoned

For the strong third, someone that resist water/ice
Rotom maybe?

Just remember that knock off and trick can still deactivate Gliscor's poison heal if you use heal bell for status on your other team members, which you probably want to since you have Porygon-2 who isn't the biggest fan of toxic.

They only work if you catch Gliscor on the switch otherwise the Toxic Orb will have already activated, besides I'd consider someone tricking themselves a Toxic Orb to be GOOD for the Gliscor user. Anyway Gliscor is still a good pokemon even without Toxic Orb it's not as if it's crippled like Porygon2 without Eviolite.

Yes but like I said if your team has heal bell then you'll remove poison heal from Gliscor when you use it if toxic orb got knocked off and P2 probably wants heal bell on its team. Not that it's gonna destroy the core or anything, just something to keep in mind with the knock off buff.

I'm not the best battler out there but I use a weezing, Chansey, and a rotom heat defensive core and it works wonders.
Rotom spreads status and absorbs stays as it can't be burned or t waved. Chansey and weezing cover each other well.

My favorite core this gen has been rhyperior + celebi as they cover each others weaknesses very well and if you invest celebii specially defensively then its a very gard core to break down with rhyperior taking very little damage from most physical attacks and celebii taking very little from most special attackers

Idk if these cores have been posted yet, but:

Aegislash+Hydreigon Ghost-Dark / Steel-Dragon Wall-Breaking duo:

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf/Life Orb
Levitate
Naive/Hasty/Timid 252 SpA / 4SpD / 252 Spe
-Super Power / Focus Blast
-Draco Meteor
-Dark Pulse
-Fire Blast

Aegislash @ Spooky Plate/Leftovers
Stance Change
Quiet 252 HP / 170 Atk / 88 SpA
-Kings Shield
-Shadow Ball
-Shadow Sneak
-Sacred Sword

As a matter of fact, yes more or less.

I haven't seen much use of rhyperior. How well is it working out for you?

Rhyperior and Celebi are both weak to Ice attacks, and any strong special Ghost or Dark attack will make quick work of either so be careful with that core, though baring those 3 types they do work rather well together. Also I tried using that Aegislash/Hydreigon pair and I have to say it's a force to be reckoned with, though I run Fire Blast/Dark Pulse/Surf/Draco Meteor. The only downsides are that Hydreigon is just under the line where it could outspeed Sashed Genesect and that neither of them have much to threaten Azumarill/Rotom-W with. They'd partner well with a Grass type, especially Shaymin, M-venusaur, Amoongus or Roserade...

It may or may not have been mentioned, but what about this?

Ferrothorn@Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Iron Barbs
Relaxed, 252 HP/48 Def/204 SpD
Leech Seed
Stealth Rock
Power Whip/Gyro Ball
Protect/Thunder Wave

Pretty much your standard Ferrothorn. With Gen VI's buff to grass types being immune to Spore, it makes for a decent status absorber. Being immune to Poison is nice too. I personally run PW over GB, but both are viable. Protect is useful for LS recovery, while TW slows down opposing 'mons and makes life easier for its teammates.

Rotom-H@Choice Specs/Scarf
Levitate
Timid/Modest, 252 HP/4 SpA/252 Spd
Overheat
Volt Switch
Will-O-Wisp
Trick

Yeah, I know Rotom-W is better. But...does it get immunity to burn AND paralysis? I think not. Overheat for power, Volt Switch for momentum shenanigans, WoW for physical 'mons, Trick to ruin walls/etc. My spread probably isn't the most efficient, but that's why I'm here, right?
Note: Considering ChestoRest and a bulkier build to match. Suggestions welcome.

Gyarados@Leftovers/Lum Berry
Intimidate
Careful, 252 HP/52 Atk/200 SpD
Taunt
Dragon Tail
Waterfall/Earthquake
Dragon Dance

Tauntrados complements the other two pretty darn well. Taunt to shut down status/boosting, Dragon Tail to phaze, and the other slots are to potentially use its bulk to do some damage. This brings my total SR weakness to 2 pokemon, but that can be dealt with later.

Any thoughts?

I've been having a fair bit of continued success with a defensive core of Amoonguss and Rotom-H (although I'd hesitate to call it "new", as I've been using this pair since midway through Gen V UU). The real workhorse of the team is Amoonguss, who can happily wall a lot of the physical offensive threats of this generation.

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Regenerator
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDef
Bold
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Toxic / Sludge Bomb / Other

Rotom-H @ Choice Specs
Levitate
252 SpA / 4 SpDef / 252 Speed
Timid
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
- Trick

This duo excels at crippling offensive and defensive pokemon, and luring in bulky Grass types for Rotom-H to fry. Amoonguss can stand up to hits that it has absolutely no business standing up to, and can switch in and out of hazards for days. The numbers speak for themselves, really:

252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 120-142 (27.7 - 32.8%) -- 81.3% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery
+6 252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 321-378 (74.3 - 87.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 Atk Adaptability Mega Lucario Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 128-151 (29.6 - 34.9%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery
+2 252 Atk Adaptability Mega Lucario Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 255-301 (59 - 69.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Huge Power Mega Mawile Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 222-262 (51.3 - 60.6%) -- 92.6% chance to 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 Atk Life Orb Technician Breloom Bullet Seed (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 51-63 (11.8 - 14.5%) -- possibly the worst move ever

252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 148-175 (34.2 - 40.5%) -- 44.9% chance to 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Garchomp Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 178-210 (41.2 - 48.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Mold Breaker Excadrill Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 166-196 (38.4 - 45.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Mega Heracross Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 270-320 (62.5 - 74%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Mamoswine Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 276-326 (63.8 - 75.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Technician Mega Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 109-129 (25.2 - 29.8%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 Atk Life Orb Talonflame Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 335-398 (77.5 - 92.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 Atk Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 147-174 (34 - 40.2%) -- 35.3% chance to 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 220-259 (50.9 - 59.9%) -- 85.5% chance to 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

4 SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Amoonguss: 74-87 (17.1 - 20.1%) -- possible 7HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Against some of the most powerful physical attackers in the format, Amoonguss can switch in, take powerful (and even the occasional super-effective) hits and cripple its opponent with a Spore. In the case of set-up Sweepers not immune to Poison (The Belly Drum Azumarill set, for instance) Amoonguss can come in as they set up, survive even the boosted hits and fire off a Clear Smog before running off to recover HP with its Regenerator. Amoonguss beats every Rotom-W ever, even with minimal SpD investment, and threatens a 3-4HKO with Giga Drain.

Even though Amoonguss isn't the most stellar offensive Pokemon, his capacity to take key threats out of commission with Status tends to lure in Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, who fear nothing from the Mushroom. Rotom-H chases these Grass types hoping for a free switch-in down and roasts them with Overheat. Trick Specs allows Rotom-H to inconvenience Pokemon like Blissey or Chansey, who would otherwise be able to take anything this pair could dish out.

This core isn't perfect by any means, and I'm constantly looking to improve it, but so far it seems to be performing quite well.

A two-mon core working very well for me in showdown is:

Scolipede @ Focus Sash
Speed Boost
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
~Swords Dance
~Baton Pass
~Megahorn
~Agility

Kingdra @ Scope Lens
Sniper
100 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
~Focus Energy
~Outrage
~Iron Head
~Waterfall

With the new crit mechanics, if Focus Energy is used with the item Scope Lens, the critical hit ratio will be 100%. Critical hits now bypass all stat boosts on the target, as well. Thus, with the ability Sniper, every attack will do 2.25x damage and bypass defensive boosts. With a +2 Atk +1 Spe Baton Pass from Scolipede, Kingdra outspeeds and OHKOs most of the metagame on a critical hit, wich is definite after Focus Energy. However, there are some situational flaws:

1. The opponent leads with a Pokemon with Sand Stream or Snow Warning. This breaks Scolipede's Sash and doesn't guarantee the boosts.
2. Kingdra can't take two hits from something. Kingdra needs to be able to stomach two hits, one from the turn with Baton Pass and one from the turn with Focus Energy.
3. The opponent leads with a pokemon (usually Cloyster) knowing some multi-strike move. This breaks Scolipede's Sash, as well.
4. Some priority move can 2HKO Scolipede. Regardless of Scolipde's Speed, priority will go first. Scolipede needs two turns for the Baton Pass to do anything.

Any ideas to counter these problems?

A tricore I've been using in many of my teams :

Gourgeist-Super (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Shadow Sneak
- Leech Seed
- Will-O-Wisp

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SAtk / 8 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Toxic

Azumarill (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Superpower

They have an amazing type synergy : The only common threat that can blow through that core is Gengar with Shadow Ball + Sludge Bomb + Focus Blast, something that is only seen in the Sub + 3 Attacks (Which isn't the most used set.) and the endangered species that are the Choice Sets. (And then he'll have to switch or trick away his item.)

Heatran and Gourgeist form a very solid duo that can, together, cripple most of the metagame with ease, and enable Azumarill to come in easily (On a Water/Ice/Fight/Dark aimed at Gourg/Tran.) and clean the enemy Team after the other 3 members did what had to be done to facilitate his cleaning. (Be it Sticky Web, Paralysis Support or even Trapping.)

I think I'll try Assault Vest Azumarill instead of the Bander, he probably will fit in this core better than the Bander does.

My rain team is coming together, now i just need a spin-blocker to complement the team as a whole, so far scarf Gengar and chandelure are the only ones who seem to fit. Both have 3 attacks plus trick. But which offers the most ?

First of all I was thinking in my favourite pokemon, Scizor.

So then I thought about a good water pokemon and I got Slowbro to my mind, and some rotom forme, but I can't choose one, also a Chomp that helps to cover rock and fire pokes...

At the end my core I Suppose that is:

Scizor + Bro
Helped by Rotom and chomp (and maybe togekiss). What you think about?

Thanks beforehand and i'm sorry for any mistakes. English is not my native language and I'm new at the forum (but I keep following smogon since DPP)

Scizor's only weakness is Fire, so it's easily covered by any Water, Fire, or Dragon Pokemon. Scizor's partner highly depends on what the 2nd Pokemon, what its weaknesses are, and if Scizor resists those weaknesses. It also depends on the set Scizor is running. You could easily go with the classic Dragon + Steel combination as it's the most simple and effective. For example, here's a defensive core I've been working on with Physically Defensive Mega Scizor:

Scizor @Scizorite
Technician
Impish 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
-Defog
-Roost
-Knock Off
-Bullet Punch

Latias @ Leftovers
Levitate
Calm 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
-Wish
-Protect
-Roar
-Dragon Pulse

652.png
248.png
681.png

Chesnaught@Leftovers
Bulletproof
Impish 252 HP / 4 At / 252 Df
~ Spikes
~ Leech Seed
~ Spikey Shield/Substitute/Roar
~ Hammer Arm/Seed Bomb

Tyranitar@Choice Band/Scarf/Tyrantite
Sand Stream
Brave/Adamant 252 At / 252 HP/Spd
~ Pursuit
~ Ice Beam/Ice Punch
~ Fire Blast/Fire Punch
~ Stone Edge/Stealth Rock

Aegislash@Balloon/Leftovers
Stance Change
Brave 252 HP / 252 At / 4 SpA
~ Kings Shield
~ Sacred Sword
~ Shadow Sneak/Shadow Ball
~ Flash Cannon/Iron Head/Swords Dance

Here is a trio epitomizing bulky offense, or in this case more semi-stall. None of these three are left wanting for power or durability. Across all three no type is not covered in some fashion. Tyranitar and Chesnaught form a double hazard duo with lost of accessory means of passive damage to force switches like Leech Seed and Sandstorm. Across the two only Fairy is a common weakness, and Aegislash makes a notable third part of this core taking Fairy attacks as well as Fighting, Dragon and Ice on top of that, as well as performing as a spinblacker all in one. A banded Tyranitar is great for some real power and the mixed attacking helps a lot. You're really going to want Ice Beam for Gliscor who could be a real thorn in your side otherwisem and Fire Blast is great for getting rid of Skarmory and Ferrothorn early. Pursuit is great for taking care of Defog Latias. Scarf on the other hand helps with some of your speed issues and helps land some surprise KOs. Spikey Shield and Kings Shield together yield more turns for free passive damage and Lefties/Leech healing. The one thing that would give these guys trouble though is status, so here's the penultimate 4th.

671.png

Florges@Leftovers
Flower Veil
Calm 252 HP / 252 Df / 4 SpD
~ Wish
~ Aromatherapy
~ Protect
~ Light Screen/Moonblast/Toxic

Florges is one crazy special sponge and pure Fairy typing is really something. Florges provides Wish to help your core keep on trucking, further Protect stall, and oh so handy Aromatherapy to remove that pesky debilitating status from everyone. Light Screen in a fourth slot can provide just a few extra turns of safeness or you could use Moonblast so you have something for Taunt. Likewise a Clefable can do all of the above and Magic Guard protects from all passive damage, or you could use a Blissey/Chansey.

Some of the EVs and sets can obviously be optimized, but I think this core is monstrous.
How would this core handle the likes of Mamoswine? Do you have a poke solely for mons like that?

195f.gif

Leftovers
252Hp 252Def 4SpD
Unaware
~Scald
~Eq
~Recover
~Encore/Ice Beam/Yawn/Toxic/Stockpile/W.e

36.gif

@Leftovers/Life Orb
Magic Guard
252Hp 252SpD 4 Def OR 252Hp 252Spa 4Spe
~Heal Bell
~Moonblast
~Wish/Softboiled
~Protect/Flamethrower

Pretty much Clefable supports Quagsire by removing troublesome status and passing wishes when it doesnt have time to recover. Clefable also takes on grass types that dont carry Sludge Bomb. Other partners can include AV Conkeldurr, Blissey, Mega Aggron, or even Rueniclus for more Magic Guard fun. Personally I have paired this core with a Curse Mega Tar, and while the results have been up and down, the potential is surely there.

first of all, sorry if something is not understood, my english not so good.
A core which gave me a lot of success is mega charizard X and Togekiss-
Charizard @ CharizarditeX
Ability: solar power->tough claws
EVs: 252 attack, 252 speed, 4 sp.d
Adamant
-dragon claws
-fire fang
-brick breack
-earthquake

Togekiss Leftovers
Ability: serene grace
EVs: 252 sp.a, 252 speed, 4 HP
Timid
-aura sphere
-air slash
-T-wave
-dazzling gleam

Both are great pokemon which complete each other lot when it come to resistences and weaknesses which with their bulk give them good switch in opportunities. They have great ability to break through pokemon when get the right switch-in, and even though they have annoying rock and SR weakness the rest of my team take care of these(and alot of time they can do it themself), ever since My charizard got into my team I got alot better in the pokebank OU.
Even though my team isn't based on this core(my star is Multicale Dragonite), I think that with third pokemon to this core can help me get better. I wanted to hear your suggestions, my current team include dragonite, dugtrio, togekiss, charizard, cloyster and gengar.

If you must use a low-powered physical fire attack, Fire Punch can be learned with Bank. Otherwise, use Flare Blitz.

Ok so I have been battling with just these three pokemon on showdown and have been winning like 50% of my games. My hope is that if I can come up with a another three that compliment each other my team would be awesome... but this is about cores so here are the three im using for my offensive core

The One (Vivillon) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Hurricane
- Quiver Dance
- Sleep Powder
- Bug Buzz

The Muscle (Conkeldurr) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch
- Mach Punch

The Drill (Excadrill) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

So I dont know how to rate my offensive core but I can just say their type coverages with these three I have bug, flying, fighting, ice, fighting, ground, steel, and rock. The whole point of this core is that they can deal super effective damage to ALOT of pokes. And the rest can be hit hard with a stab neutral move.

I dont know what else to say so if there are any questions, concerns or insults, please let me know.

I remember coming across a Zygarde+Togekiss core suggestion before: I think when combined with Empoleon that could work really well as they cover each other's weaknesses. Zygarde can spread paralysis with dragon tail+glare, Togekiss can use that paralysis with air slash to parahax enemies to death while also providing wish support to Empoleon and Zygarde and heal bell support, and Empoleon defogs away hazards then sets up more with stealth rocks, making Zygarde's shuffling job easier. Plus, Empoleon can further cripple enemies with knock off and do some phazing himself with roar.

Something like:

Empoleon w/Lefties or air balloon
252 Hp, 252SpD, careful
Roar
Knock Off
Defog
Stealth Rock

Zygarde w/lefties or chesto berry
252 HP, 252 def, Impish
Glare
Dragon Tail
Rest
Sleep Talk/Earthquake

Togekiss w/Lefties
252HP, 252 def, bold
Heal Bell
Wish
Air Slash
Nasty Plot/Thunder Wave

A lower tier core I really like the type synergy of is Carracosta + Parasect. I think all it needs is something that resists rock and bug, and appreciates the water immunity Parasect's Dry Skin gives.

Maybe Aggron or Steelix if you're trying RU?
