Overview
########

Gourgeist-S has great Speed for a physical wall, allowing it to outspeed and burn opposing physical Pokemon such as Basculin, Poliwrath, and Sawsbuck. It has a fantastic utility movepool including Leech Seed, Will-O-Wisp, Substitute, and Disable. Its ability, Frisk, allows it to scout opponents' items. It has a good defensive typing that grants it many useful resistances to common types such as Electric, Water, Grass, and Ground. Its typing also gives Gourgeist-S an immunity to Fighting- and Normal-type moves. This allows it to effectively wall Pokemon such as Barbaracle, Basculin, Gogoat, Sawsbuck, and Tauros. All of these traits make it one of the best defensive spinblockers in the tier. However Gourgeist-S has difficulty with Grass- and Fire-types.

SubSeed

move 2: Leech Seed
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Rock Slide / Disable
ability: Frisk
item: Leftovers
evs: 152 HP / 104 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly / Timid

Moves
========

Substitute is used to protect against weaker attacks and status, and can also be used to scout for what an opponent wants to do. Gourgeist-S can set up Substitutes on the various Pokemon it walls, allowing it to use Leech Seed on or burn the switch-in, wearing it down, especially if Gourgeist-S is faster and can continually set up Substitutes. Leech Seed is used for extra recovery, allowing Gourgeist-S to set up more Substitutes, and Will-O-Wisp is used to cripple physical attackers such as Barbaracle, Tauros, and Marowak and to provide residual damage on common switch-ins such as Grass-, Ice-, and Flying-types. Rock Slide is used to hit common Fire- and Flying-types, which like to switch into Gourgeist-S, from behind the safety of a Substitute. Disable can be used instead of Rock Slide to stall by disabling super effective moves. Phantom Force can be used to get an extra turn of Leech Seed and Leftovers recovery.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment is used so that Gourgeist-S can outspeed max Speed base 95s, such as Frogadier, Swanna, and Basculin. The HP EVs allow Gourgeist-S to get as much HP from Leech Seed and Leftovers as possible, and the rest are put in Defense for added bulk. Frisk is used to scout an opponent's item, letting you see Choice items and other less obvious items, giving insight into the opponent's set. Leftovers is used for increased longevity allowing Gourgeist-S to set up multiple Substitutes.

Usage Tips
========

Be wary of switching into a Scald, because while resisted, burn limits the number of Substitutes Gourgeist-S can set up. Set up Substitutes on status users or Pokemon with resisted STAB attacks. After setting up Substitute, use Leech Seed on and then burn specially based Pokemon, and do the reverse on physically based Pokemon. Setting up a Substitute when the opponent has a Grass-type is not the best idea as it only wastes precious health which can be difficult to recover without the help of Leech Seed. If Gourgeist-S is running Disable, first use Substitute to see what move the opponent will go for to hurt Gourgeist-S, then Disable the move and Substitute again to see if they carry any coverage moves. Be wary of switching into Fighting-type Pokemon, as they like to carry Knock Off, which also limits the number of Substitutes that Gourgeist-S can create and removes its Leftovers.

Team Options
========

Toxic Spikes users such as Garbodor and Roselia are useful teammates, as the Toxic damage coupled with Leech Seed can rack up quickly, Garbodor can also switch into Grass-types quite easily. They are also useful because they can absorb Toxic Spikes on your side of the field, which can be detrimental to Gourgeist-S, while Gourgeist-S provides spinblocking support. Entry hazard users in general, such as Golem and Stunfisk, make good teammates, as Gourgeist-S forces a lot of switches and hazard damage racks up quickly. Lickilicky is a good teammate as it can provide Wish and Heal Bell support to Gourgeist-S, while Gourgeist-S can provide a switch-in to Fighting-type attacks. Pokemon that resist Dark, such as Poliwrath and Throh, are good teammates to take moves such as Knock Off. A Fire / Water / Grass core can be created with Gourgeist-S using Fire-types such as Camerupt and Heatmor as well as Water-types such as Poliwrath and Mantine, as they can take care of each other's weaknesses.

Other Options
########

Shadow Sneak can be used as a form of priority; however, Gourgeist-S struggles to find room for it. Protect can be used over Substitute to scout for moves; however, the utility Substitute provides is much better. Seed Bomb or Bullet Seed can be used over one of the suggested attacking moves above; however, Rock Slide provides better coverage and Phantom Force provides extra turns of Leech Seed recovery. Pain Split can be used to get back more health for Gourgeist-S, but it is not reliable. Toxic can be used over Will-O-Wisp as a quicker way to wear down opposing Pokemon; however, the utility Will-O-Wisp provides is much better. An offensive Gourgeist-S can be used, but it isn't very strong.

Checks & Counters
########

**Offensive Typing Advantage**: Fire-types such as Ninetales, Heatmor, and Flareon threaten Gourgeist-S out with their powerful Fire-type moves. They are also immune to Will-O-Wisp, and some of them, such as the aforementioned Pokemon, even get a Flash Fire boost from it. A Fire-type's best way to switch in is on a predicted Will-O-Wisp; however, Fire-types have to be wary of switching into a super effective Rock Slide. Ice-type Pokemon such as Aurorus, Rotom-Frost, Glaceon, and Articuno threaten Gourgeist-S out with powerful Ice-type moves. While Ice-types struggle to switch in, if they come in on a Will-O-Wisp or a Leech Seed they can threaten out Gourgeist-S with an Ice Beam, but if they switch in on a Gourgeist-S with Substitute up then they will be hit by a super effective Rock Slide. Articuno has to be especially wary of Rock Slide as it is 4x weak to Rock. Flying-types such as Dodrio, Chatot, and Mantine threaten Gourgeist-S out with their super effective STAB Flying-type moves. Chatot gets a specific mention as it has a super effective sound-based move Chatter, which can hit through Substitutes and seriously injure Gourgeist-S. However, Flying-types have to be wary of switching into a super effective Rock Slide.

**Grass-types**: Substitute-using Grass-types such as Serperior and Tropius are immune to Leech Seed and can set up on Gourgeist-S, Serperior can outspeed Gourgeist-S and block Will-O-Wisp with Substitute, while Tropius can carry Lum Berry with Harvest to rid itself of burn.

**Knock Off**: Knock Off is detrimental to Gourgeist-S as it is super effective, removes Gourgeist-S's Leftovers, and can limit the number of Substitutes it can make. Gourgeist-S has to be wary of switching in and trying to wall Pokemon such as Sneasel, Throh, and Marowak that commonly carry Knock Off.

**Status**: Status such as Toxic, Toxic Spikes, and Scald burns can limit the number of Substitutes Gourgeist-S can make. Gourgeist-S likes to switch in on common defensive Pokemon such as Lumineon, Poliwrath, Bastiodon, and Defensive Carracosta to try and get up a free Substitute; however, the aforementioned Pokemon commonly like to carry Toxic, and they can cripple Gourgeist-S by poisoning it on the switch. Gourgeist-S should be wary of switching into Thunder Wave from Pokemon it's trying to wall, such as Stunfisk and Luxray. If Gourgeist-S gets paralyzed then it loses one of its biggest assets, its Speed. Gourgeist-S relies on its ability to outspeed opposing Pokemon to get off a Leech Seed and set up Substitutes.

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Misdreavus and Vigoroth can shut down Gourgeist-S, stopping it from using Leech Seed and Will-O-Wisp, but they struggle to switch in, some of them are outsped, and risk getting statused first.

**Substitute**: Substitute can completely block status and Leech Seed and allows other bulky Pokemon to set up on Gourgeist-S. Bouffalant with a Substitute up can set up on Gourgeist-S, as Rock Slide does minimal damage and Bouffalant is immune to Seed Bomb and Phantom Force.

Overview
########
  • Great Speed for a physical wall
  • Fantastic utility options in Leech Seed, Will-O-Wisp, Substitute, and Disable
  • Good typing, grants useful resistances
  • Good Spin Blocker
  • Ability lets it scout items on opposing teams
  • Difficulty with Grass- and Fire-types

Moves
========
  • Substitute to protect against attacks and status
  • Leech Seed for extra recovery
  • Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers
  • Rock Slide for extra flinch and to hit Fire- and Flying-types who commonly like to switch into Gourgeist-S
  • Disable to disable super effective attacking moves
  • Protect to scout for attacks, to scout for something to disable, to get increased leech seed recovery
  • Phantom Force to get increased Leech Seed and Leftovers recovery.

Set Details
========
  • Max Speed is so that Gourgeist-S can outspeed max invested base 95s and Frogadier, Swanna, and Basculin, HP EVs are to get as much from Leech Seed and Leftovers as possible, the rest are put into Defense for added bulk
  • Frisk to see an enemies item
  • Leftovers for increased longevity

Usage Tips
========
  • Be wary of switching in on Scalds, because while resisted, having a burned Gourgeist-S limits the amount of Substitutes it can setup.
  • Setup Substitutes on Pokemon that will either try and status you or who you resist their STAB attack. After setting up Substitute either setup up Leech Seed on specially based pokemon and then burn them or do the reverse on physically based pokemon.
  • If you are using Disable, Substitute to see what move the opponent will try and go for to hurt you, then Disable the move and Substitute again to see if they have another coverage move.
  • Be wary of switching into Fighting-type pokemon as they like to carry Knock Off which can limit the amount of Substitutes that Gourgeist-S can create.

  • Entry hazard users such Golem, Stunfisk, and Glalie make good teammates as Gourgeist-S forces a lot of switches and hazard damage racks up quickly.
  • Lickilicky is a good teammate as it can provide Wish and Heal Bell support to Gourgeist-S, while Gourgeist-S can provide a switch in to Fighting-type attacks
  • Pokemon that resist Dark-type attacks such as Poliwrath and Throh are good teammates to take moves such as Knock Off
  • A Fire, Water, Grass core can be created with Gourgeist-S. Fire-types such as Camerupt and Heatmor, Water-types such as Poliwrath and Mantine, make good teammates

  • Pain Split
  • Toxic
  • Offensive Variant

Checks & Counters
########

**Status**: Status such as Toxic or Will-O-Wisp can limit the amount of Substitutes Gourgeist-S can make, while Thunder Wave can cripple its speed.

**Knock Off**: Moves such as Knock Off can limit the amount of Substitutes that Gourgeist-S can make

**Flying-Types**: Flying-types such as Dodrio and Mantine threaten Gourgeist-S out with a super effective Flying move

**Grass-Types**: Pokemon such as Victreebel and Serperior are immune to Leech Seed and can setup on Gourgeist-S

**Fire-Types**: Fire-types such as Ninetales or Flareon threaten Gourgeist-S out with a powerful Fire move, they are also immune to Will-O-Wisp and some of them get a Flash Fire boost

**Substitute**: Substitute can completely block status and Leech Seed and allows other bulky Pokemon to set up on Gourgeist-S. Speficially Bouffalant which if it subs on the switch then it can setup all over Gourgeist-S as Rock Slide does minimal damage and is immune to Seed Bomb (Sap Sipper) and Phantom Force.

**Ice-Types**: Ice-type Pokemon such as Aurorus or Aritcuno threaten out Gourgeist-S with a powerful Ice move

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Misdreavus or Vigoroth can shut down Gourgeist-S almost completely

**Chatot**: Chatot's Chatter can go through Substitute and seriously injure Gourgeist-S, while Chatot also carries Encore and Substitute

Overview:
- mention that it's a good spinblocker

Team Options:
- when mentioning TSpikes users, add that they help Gourgeist-S by absorbing TSpikes as well.
- You could also mention Spikes which are cool because Gourgeist forces switches with Disable.

Checks and Counters:
- add Substitute users because they completely wreck Gourgeist
- Persian isn't a relevant Taunt user and Purigly rarely runs it, so replace that with Misdreavus or Vigoroth

Is Rock Slide really more useful than having a STAB move? I'd rather use phantom force or seed bomb honestly. I'd also give Bouffalant a significant mention under sub users in C&C, you normally wall it but if it subs as you switch in it can easily set up all over you.

Also the only fighting mon that gets knock off is throh so you can just mention it specifically in usage tips.

Rock Slide is used to hit Flying- and Fire-types (Chatot), it nails them on the switch and honestly I'm not a huge fan of Phantom Force, as far as Seed Bomb goes there are specific targets but Gourgeist-S can just wear them down with Leech Seed and Burn, while its much harder to wear down Fire and flying types imo. Added in a big mention to Bouff in C&C under the sub section

Edit: oh and phantom force is getting a mention in moves in case you didnt see that.

"If you are using Disable either Substitute or Protect"
Protect? This set doesn't have protect, you might want to remove that. You can put Protect in OO though, it can be pretty neat in some situations although Gourgeist doesn't really have much room for it

I honestly don't see much wrong with it other than that really, tried hard but it seems fine. I'll consult some other guys about it but it looks like you're getting this one easily. Do mind to check the language though, there's a lot of typos going on at certain points, GP will prolly point that out too but you might as well look into it already to save them some work.

also sorry for the huge delay lmao, got a little distracted along the way. Honestly there are no major errors anymore so QC 3/3

I'm not quite sure this is done just yet, as I have some comments on the writing. The content is all there, at least for the most part, but I have reservations somewhat on the ability to inform the reader, which is the goal of the analysis. I think it's just rather lacking in terms of information., its very sparse, something commonly seen in many lower tier analyses since UU.

[Overview]
This is well-written; however, I find it odd you mention one of Gourgeist's main advantages (its Speed), yet don't specify any particular relevant offensive Pokemon that it outspeeds, which is one of the main factors drawing one to use Gourgeist-S. Where you mention its resistances, you should note the Pokemon that it can switch into and wall, and where you say it has difficulty with Grass- and Fire-types, you should mention some common ones. Finally, its ability Frisk is nice to mention as a benefit but you need to make it sound like a benefit, not just a random statement explaining what the ability does.

[Moves]
Again here, you aren't very informative. "Substitute is used to protect against weaker attacks and status, and can also be used to scout for what an opponent wants to do." and "Leech Seed is used for extra recovery" don't really go into enough detail into the strategy, you should mention that Gourgeist-S can setup Substitutes on the various Pokemon it walls, allowing it to drain the health or burn the switch-in, wearing it down, especially if Gourgeist is faster and it can continually setup Substitutes. Rock Slide is not used for the flinch chance, it is used to hit switch-ins when it is behind the safety of a Substitute, wearing them down. Personally I'd even slash Seed Bomb there but that's up to you.

[Set Details]
This is nice, but the Frisk and Leftovers statements aren't that explanatory, they literally just seem like !dexsearch descriptions.

[Team Options]
Remove Glalie, it isn't present on defensive or even balanced teams.

[Checks and Counters]
C&C is the thing I'm most bothered by. Partially because there is a disturbing lack of content, compare:
"**Status**: Status such as Toxic or burn can limit the number of Substitutes Gourgeist-S can make, while Thunder Wave lowers its Speed."
with
"**Respective Defensive Pokemon**: While both of Charizard's Mega formers elicit different responses, they do in fact have defensive answers, albeit rather few. Mega Charizard X is very difficult to switch into, especially since it can boost its Attack. Assuming the standard offensive sets (as Will-o-Wisp from the defensive one greatly cripples many potential answers), Quagsire, Landorus-T, Rhyperior, and Hippowdon are its most reliable counters, all of which threaten with STAB Earthquake. However, Quagsire can be 2HKOed by +0 Outrage, Landorus-T and Rhyperior lack reliable recovery, and even physically defensive Hippowdon can be worn down with a entry hazards until Mega Charizard X can force its way past it. Slowbro can recover off damage and doesn't care too much about Will-o-Wisp, though it can get OHKOed by +1 Outrage from a Dragon Dance set after some prior damage. Although typically not physically defensive, Heatran can stomach many hits and stall with Toxic if Mega Charizard X lacks Earthquake. Azumarill gets special mention for resisting every common attack Mega Charizard X has and can also generally tank Earthquake, though, like most of the aforementioned Pokemon, it is severely crippled by Will-o-Wisp. Mega Charizard Y's reliable switch-ins are also limited to specialized specially defensive Pokemon. Blissey and Chansey wall Mega Charizard Y hard and can heal back the damage while stalling it out with Seismic Toss and / or Toxic. Assault Vest Goodra and Snorlax are also notable for taking pittance from even its super effective moves and can attack back with hard-hitting moves, though they can be poor choices against other Pokemon in the metagame, and both lack reliable recovery, meaning that they can be worn down over a game's span with Mega Charizard Y's attacks. When sandstorm is up, Hippowdon can limit Solar Beam to being a two-turn move, and use this opportunity to OHKO Mega Charizard Y with Rock Slide or Stone Edge. Politoed can also do this, except it summons rain instead of sandstorm, which decreases the power of Fire Blast."

There NEEDS to be more specifics. I'm sorry, but there is no information here. Lets start with "Status".
"**Status**: Status such as Toxic or burn can limit the number of Substitutes Gourgeist-S can make, while Thunder Wave lowers its Speed."

Ok, by following this the reader would assume they should run Toxic or a status move on a random Pokemon and have insurance against Gourgeist-S. First of all, remove Thunder Wave, yes it affects the Speed advantage but it doesn't disturb its defensive merit outside of the 25% chance. For Toxic, you mention absolutely 0 examples of Pokemon with Toxic, and therefore no mention of whether these Pokemon with Toxic can switch into it without being cripples somewhat. The main set has Substitute. How many Toxic users in PU commonly use the move and have higher Speed? If Toxic is in Checks and Counters, mention users that can get it off before a Sub. Burn section same thing, but needs a mention of Scald.

"**Knock Off**: Knock Off can limit the number of Substitutes that Gourgeist-S can make by removing Leftovers."
No examples AND no mention that the move is super-effective.

Now, these are problematic, but uncommon. When one aims to defeat a Gourgeist-S, what do they do? Do they usually switch in a Toxic user or try to get a Knock Off to remove its Leftovers? The order should be relevant, and thus:
Fire-types / Ice-types / Flying-types / Grass-types / Knock Off / Status / Taunt / Substitute

"**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Ninetales and Flareon threaten Gourgeist-S out with their powerful Fire-type moves. They are also immune to Will-O-Wisp, and some of them even get a Flash Fire boost from it."
Examples of the Pokemon with Flash Fire is necessary, as is a mention of Heatmor. Note that they can't switch into Rock Slide.

"**Ice-types**: Ice-type Pokemon such as Aurorus and Articuno threaten Gourgeist-S out with powerful Ice-type moves."
More Ice-types (such as Glaceon), as well as the mention that they (especially Articuno) can not switch into Rock Slide. Specific scenarios are nice (see Charizard paragraph above).

"**Flying-types**: Flying-types such as Dodrio and Mantine threaten Gourgeist-S out with their super effective STAB Flying-type moves."
Move Chatot here, Rock Slide mention, specific scenarios.

I'd actually possibly combine all these into a category called "Offensive Typing Advantage" but that's up to you. A bit late now it seems.

"**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Victreebel and Serperior are immune to Leech Seed and can set up on Gourgeist-S."
Victreebel can't setup on it without Sub, only mention Sub Grass-types here.

Also oml nothing is wrong with the Taunt sentence but it's just so small seriously.

I hope this advice helps you throughout further analyses, and once I see change, a QC 4/3 is coming.

Ok Montsegur sorry for the trouble but i agree with TRC here.

Most sections could really use some examples (Moves) and more precise detail.

I'd like you to mention some of the targets of Will-O-Wisp in moves and the fact that it helps in setting up substitutes on physical attackers.
In usage tips you should also probably mention that using Substitute when the opponent has a grass type only wastes precious health which is very difficult to recover if said grass type keeps being around.
Mention that GARBODOR switches into Grass types quite easily and remove Roselia and Glalie as they have no synergy or nothing and tell that Gourgeist does well with them because it is a spinblocker too

CC can be improved greatly just by adding a few lines as TRC said.
For example making

"**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Misdreavus and Vigoroth can shut down Gourgeist-S."
"**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Misdreavus and Vigoroth can shut down Gourgeist-S stopping it from using Leech Seed and Will-O-Wisp on them, but they struggle to switch in and they are outsped and risk getting statused first."

and making

"**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Victreebel and Serperior are immune to Leech Seed and can set up on Gourgeist-S."
"**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Victreebel and Serperior are immune to Leech Seed and can set up on Gourgeist-S even thought they dislike being Burned or Disabled"

Sorry again for the trouble
