ZU Granbull [Done]

[OVERVIEW]

Granbull's Fairy typing is unique in ZU and allows it to threaten common Pokemon like Silvally-Fighting and Silvally-Dark. Granbull excels as a wallbreaker due to its coverage options in Earthquake and Fire Punch, which allow it to hit Fairy-resistant Pokemon like Muk and Bronzor super effectively. Being a good wallbreaker is not Granbull's only strong quality; it is also a good support Pokemon due to its access to Heal Bell and status options. Its ability Intimidate is a boon for its bulk, which makes it a solid physically defensive Pokemon that can check Choice Scarf Pinsir and Silvally-Fighting. However, Granbull has low Special Defense, which is not beneficial against Pokemon that can run both special and physical sets, such as Swanna, Combusken, and Floatzel. Its low Speed makes it vulnerable against faster Pokemon, especially special attackers that can outspeed or revenge kill it, such as Swanna and Exeggutor. Granbull is also prone to chip damage and faces competition from other physical walls like Golem and Gourgeist-XL. A Lack of reliable recovery also hurts Granbull; it has to rely on Leftovers or Z-Heal Bell to keep itself healthy.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake hits Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types that resist Play Rough super effectively, such as Muk, Metang, and Rapidash. Fire Punch is used to hit Bronzor, which resists Play Rough and is immune to Earthquake. Close Combat 2HKOes Avalugg after Stealth Rock damage and has a small chance to 2HKO it from full. Close Combat is also capable of OHKOing Lickilicky after Stealth Rock damage, as well as OHKOing Bouffalant and Silvally.

Set Details
========

A Choice Band and an Adamant nature give Granbull a sky-high Attack stat, which makes wallbreaking much easier. Maximum Speed investment is needed to Speed tie with other base 45 Speed Pokemon, such as Marowak and Golem, and to outpace some slow defensive Pokemon, such as Lickilicky and defensive Komala. Intimidate lets Granbull tank hits from strong physical attackers like Komala and Golem and can act as an offensive check to them if kept healthy.

Usage Tips

========

Granbull works best early-game as an excellent wallbreaker. It can come in on physical attackers that struggle to threaten it, such as Silvally-Fighting and Silvally-Dark. Granbull should be cautious of physical attackers like Kecleon and Machoke that carry Knock Off, however, because losing Choice Band lowers Granbull's damage output massively. With Granbull's great power and Intimidate, it forces a lot of switches from slow or passive Pokemon, such as Lickilicky and Altaria. In these situations, Granbull should use its coverage moves to punish incoming Pokemon that resist Play Rough, such as Earthquake and Fire Punch for Mareanie and Bronzor, respectively. However, be aware that setup sweepers, like Swanna and Combusken, can take advantage of Granbull being Choice-locked into these moves.

Team Options
========

Granbull works best on balance and bulky offense teams. It appreciates Stealth Rock support from Pokemon like Golem and Bronzor, which makes wallbreaking a lot easier. Golem has a good matchup against Steel-, Fire-, and Poison-types, like Mawile, Rapidash, and Muk, while Bronzor also has a good matchup against Poison-types and does well versus physical walls like Golem. Cleaners like Choice Scarf Swanna and Electivire benefit from Granbull's ability to weaken Pokemon such as Lickilicky and defensive Golem, and Granbull appreciates their ability to take care of faster Pokemon. Knock Off support from Pokemon such as Pawniard and Leafeon enhances Granbull's wallbreaking potential against Eviolite-holding walls like Bronzor and Metang, and it lets Granbull secure a 2HKO on Pyukumuku after Stealth Rock damage with Play Rough. Because of Granbull's low Special Defense, it tends to rely on teammates with great special bulk. Pokemon like Kecleon and Muk are excellent partners for Granbull, as they give its team a comfortable switch-in to special attackers like Swanna and Raichu. Granbull can switch into physical attackers such as Silvally-Fighting and Silvally-Ground for them in return. Entry hazard removal and pivoting moves also greatly support Granbull, which is why Silvally-Water and Silvally-Fighting are good partners.

evs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake is useful for Pokemon that resist Play Rough, such as Rapidash and Muk. For its status move, Granbull can use Toxic or Thunder Wave. Toxic helps Granbull wear down Pokemon that it aims to check and cripple opposing walls such as physically defensive Golem and Gourgeist-XL. Thunder Wave lowers the foe's Speed, crippling incoming switch-ins like Leafeon and Rapidash, which is great team support. Thanks to Heal Bell, Granbull can cure status for the team. However, Roar can be used over Heal Bell if phazing is useful for the team. It is a good option against setup Pokemon like Bouffalant or if Granbull is used on an entry hazard-stacking team.

Set Details
========

Normalium Z is used to give Granbull full restoration of its health with Z-Heal Bell once. Holding Normalium Z lets Granbull check Knock Off users like Kecleon and Leafeon more reliably. Leftovers is another option for recovery if Granbull's team already has a Z-Move user.

Usage Tips
========

Granbull is excellent for sponging hits from physical attackers like Rapidash and Kecleon. It can also be used to cure status, which is very useful against a variety of Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL and Altaria. Granbull should be careful against Pokemon that have both physical and special sets like Swanna and Combusken, as it can easily be KOed by special moves. Try to catch special attackers like Simisear on the switch and cripple them with Toxic or Thunder Wave. Granbull can work throughout the whole game, but it can be chipped easily, so it has to be careful about its recovery. Be smart about when to use Z-Heal Bell, as Granbull can only use it once and needs to avoid being chipped into KO range by Pokemon such as Rapidash.

Team Options
========

Because Granbull works best on balance teams, it appreciates a teammate with good Special Defense. Pokemon like Altaria, Kecleon, Muk, and Lickilicky offer Granbull's team safe switch-ins to special attackers like Kadabra and Swanna. Komala and Licklicky are good partners, as they provide Granbull with recovery via Wish, and Granbull acts as a switch-in to Fighting-types like Silvally-Fighting. Offensive Pokemon like Pinsir are also recommended, as Granbull doesn't offer much offensive pressure; it can support them by switching into physical attackers, such as Silvally-Dark and Golem, and cure them of status afflictions like burn and paralysis. Offensive Pokemon like Exeggutor and Bouffalant also appreciate Granbull's Thunder Wave support because of their low Speed stats. Granbull also likes attackers such as Simisear wearing down its primary switch-ins like Bronzor. Granbull's capability to absorb Knock Off is helpful for Pokemon such as Mareanie, Beheeyem, and Bronzor. Mareanie and Bronzor are especially useful partners because they check special attackers like Swanna and Exeggutor in return. Pokemon that can cover Granbull's weaknesses make great partners for it. Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash, and Camerupt work excellently with it, as they offer Stealth Rock support and a free switch-in for Muk, and their STAB moves pressure Poison- and Steel-types.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Granbull can run an offensive support set of Heal Bell / Play Rough / Earthquake / Thunder Wave with an EV spread of 216 HP / 252 Atk / 40 Spe. The Speed EVs let Granbull outspeed Lickilicky. However, this set has some important flaws; for example, Granbull doesn't have enough defensive investment, which means it can't check physical attackers, such as Rapidash, reliably. Offensively, Granbull additionally outputs far less damage and is easily walled by Bronzor. Another option is to use Toxic on the Choice Band set instead of Close Combat. Toxic effectively negates Leftovers recovery and lets Granbull 2HKO Z-Move Pyukumuku after Stealth Rock damage. However, sacrificing a powerful coverage move in Close Combat makes for a worse Avalugg matchup.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Special Attackers**: Strong special wallbreakers that are faster than Granbull threaten it heavily. Pokemon such as Exeggutor, Swanna, and Simisear fall into this category. However, these attackers can't directly switch into Granbull and risk being crippled by the defensive set.

**Steel-types**: Although Earthquake hits Steel-types like Metang, hard Granbull still struggles against them. Bronzor is especially a struggle due to its ability Levitate.

**Residual Damage**: Chip damage from entry hazards, status, and Leech Seed is a big problem for Granbull due to its lack of recovery. Granbull is affected by every type of entry hazard, and Choice Band Granbull is prone to being inflicted by burn and poison, since it can't cure itself with Heal Bell.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Granbull's great typing, strong attack, solid physical bulk, amazing ability in Intimidate and access to good coverage moves, status and Heal Bell make it an excellent breaker or defensive Pokemon for a variety of teams.
  • Granbull's STAB is quite unique in ZU and allows Granbull to threaten common Pokemon, like Silvally-Fighting and Shiftry.
  • Thanks to its wide movepool Granbull can use a variety of good moves. One perfect coverage move for Granbull is Earthquake. Fire-, Poison-, and Steel-types resist Granbull's STAB but Earthquake is super effective, which is useful against Pokemon, such as Metang, Mareanie and Muk. This second point is more of a move explanation and less of an overview, so instead you could say that Granbull excels as a breaker due to its coverage options (and then you could mention EQ for Poison-types and Fire Punch for Bronzor).
  • Being a good breaker is not Granbull's only strong quality, it is also a good support due to Heal Bell and status. Its Intimidate is a bonus for its bulk, which makes it a solid physical defensive Pokemon. Mention what its typing enables it to check.
  • However, Granbull has low Special Defense, which is not beneficial against Pokemon who can run special and physical sets, like Swanna, Combusken and Floatzel. Also is prone to chip damage and still faces competition physical walls.
  • Its low speed makes it vulnerable against faster Pokemon who can outspeed or revenge it. Give examples.
  • Lacking reliable recovery is also a bad thing for Granbull, it has to rely on Leftovers or Z-Heal Bell to keep itself healthy. Goes with the third to last point, so I'd merge it.

Moves
========

  • Play Rough gives Granbull a hard hitting STAB move, it offers you a unique STAB that not many ZU Pokemons have. First half is fluff so be sure to emphasis that Granbull is the only prominent Fairy-type physical attacker
  • To make up for Granbull's resists, it uses its most important coverage move Earthquake to hit Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types super effectively.
  • Close Combat gives a useful Fighting move. It is also effective because of how common Normal-types are and Granbull can hit Ice-types super effectively.
  • Fire Punch is an option to hit Bronzor super effectively. Bronzor otherwise resists Granbull's STAB and it is immune to Earthquake.
Set Details
========
  • Choice Band gives Granbull a skyhigh attack stat, which makes breaking much easier. You will, however, be choice locked, so be careful. More of a usage tips option.
  • Adamant nature with 252 Attack is needed for the good breaking power.
  • Granbull doesn't outspeed many Pokemons naturally, however 252 Speed let it outspeed Pokemon who have a higher speed stat, for example Lickilicky, Bouffalant and uninvested Komala.
Whole section can be condensed into one line.

Usage Tips
========

  • Granbull works best early game, because it can function as an excellent wallbreaker. Thanks to its coverage and raw power Granbull can punch holes in the opposing team early game. Specify what Granbull can come in on or check in the early-game to effectively break.
  • With Granbull's strong power and Intimidate, it forces a lot of switches. Granbull should use its coverage to punish incoming Pokemons that resist Granbull's STAB. Give examples
  • To stop physical attackers from sweeping Granbull has Intimidate to lower their attack stat, this is useful for Pokemons like Crustle, Pinsir and Leafeon.
The information here is more surface level and so you can add in a lot more detail. Give examples of when Granbull should break (vs what?) and specifically how it should be played rather than saying what it can do. Mention that Granbull should be wary of switching into attacks because it is not very bulky and specifically how switching into Knock Off would cripple its breaking power. Also, mention how CB comes into play when attacking and how it should be taken into account.

Team Options
========

  • Granbull works best on balance or bulky offense. Granbull provides the teams wallbreaking with Stealth Rocks really helping Granbull to do that job.
  • Golem and Camerupt offer Granbull the best synergy. They can set up Stealth Rock and have a good matchup against Steel-, Fire- and Poison-Types.
  • Granbull appreciates cleaners in its team. Cleaners like Swanna and Pinsir can finish Granbull's job in wearing down teams. They have a high speed and finish damaged Pokemons. Specify the Swanna and Pinsir sets.
  • Knock off also helps Granbull's breaking potentional, especially Shiftry helps Granbull taking down walls.
  • Because of the low special defense from Granbull, Granbull likes to rely on pokemons with great special defense. Pokemons like Kecleon and Muk are excellent partners for Granbull.
Mention that Granbull appreciates hazard removal support as well as slow pivots that can bring it in safely.

Moves
========

  • Play Rough and Earthquake are Granbull's damage moves. Play Rough is there for STAB and Earthquake for Pokemon who resist its STAB. Examples (i.e Rapidash and Muk)
  • For status spread moves Granbull can use Thunder Wave and Toxic. Thunder Wave lowers opponent's speed which is great for team support. Toxic is useful against Pokemons that are able to tank Granbull. Explain why Twave would be used over Toxic and give more detail for Toxic itself. Toxic helps wear down Pokemon that Granbull aims to check and also cripples opposing walls such as phys def Golem and Gourg-XL.
  • Thanks to Heal Bell Granbull can clear status from the team. Mention why it's also useful for Granbull and the z-effect specifically.
  • Roar can be used over status or Heal Bell if phaze is useful for the team. It is an good option against set up Pokemons such as... or if Granbull is used with hazard stack.
Set Details
========

  • With max HP and max Defense Granbull can fulfil its role the best. Max Defense let Granbull tank many mons easier, like Komala, Electivire and physical Shiftry.
  • Leftovers will provide Granbull recovery through the whole game, unless it is knocked off.
  • Normalium Z is used to give Granbull a 100% healing with Z-Heal Bell once. It also makes Granbull an excellent Knock Off absorber.
Usage Tips
========

  • Granbull is excellent to sponge physical hits, so Granbull will often be used to switch in physical attackers. Need examples
  • Shiftry is a huge threat and Granbull works well to check Shiftry, Granbull needs to be careful for Leaf Storm though.
  • Because there is a great variety of Pokemon that spread status, Granbull can be used to clear al the status, that is very useful against Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL.
  • Granbull should be careful against Pokemon that are mixed, as it can easily die to special moves.
  • Thanks to its Fairy typing Granbull can resist common types and some switches are safe against Pokemon like Silvally-Fighting.
  • Granbull works throughout the whole game, but it can be chipped easily so Granbull has to be careful about its recovery.
Team Options
========

  • Because support Granbull works best on balance, Granbull appreciates a teammate with a good Special Defense. Pokemon like Altaria, Kecleon, Muk and Lickilicky offer Granbull a good special defense and safe switches.
  • Granbull lacks reliable recovery, so Granbull appreciates Wish support. Komala and Licklicky are good partners, because they provide Granbull recovery and Granbull give them a fighting resist.
  • Offensive Pokemons are also recommended, support Granbull doesn't offer much offensive pressure, however he can give offensive Pokemons, like Pinsir, Shiftry and Abomasnow free switches and clear their status, which is useful when physical Pokemons are burned. The offensive Pokemons do the breaking, which Granbull lacks. Clarify that Intimidate helps teammates come in more easily, not necessarily for free.
  • Granbull's capability to absorb Knock Off is helpful for Pokemon, such as Mareanie, Beheeyem and Bronzor.
  • Pokemons that can cover Granbull's weaknesses make great partners for it. Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash, Gabite and Camerupt work excellent with Granbull. They resist Granbull's weaknesses and offer Stealth Rocks.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • A Bulk Up+Substitute set can be run to make Granbull a wincon. Although this set makes Granbull very vulnerable against special attackers like Mr. Mime, Floatzel and Simisear. Personally would remove this because Granbull is heavily outclassed as a set up sweeper.
  • Granbull can also a use a mix between Choice Band and Support set. The offensive support set runs Heal Bell, Play Rough, Earthquake and Thunder Wave with max HP and max Attack. The set uses breaking power and lowers Speed stat from the opponent. The set has both great qualities from Granbull, good physical bulk and strong attack, but excels in neither. So the other sets are more effective.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Special Attackers**: Strong special breakers that are also faster threaten Granbull heavily. Pokemons such as Kadabra, special Swanna and Simisear fall in that category.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon can revenge offensive Granbull without any worry, because of Granbull's mediocre Speed. Faster Pokemon on a revenge also don't suffer from the Intimidate drop.

**Steel-types**: Although Earthquake hits Steel-types hard, Granbull still struggles against them, because Granbull can be choiced locked or the Steel-types are too bulky. Bronzor is especially a struggle due to the Levitate ability.

**Residual damage** : Chip damage, entry hazards, not cured status and Leech Seed are a big problem, as a result of the lack of recovery.

**Poison-types**: Poison-types take more damage than Steel-types, but Granbull still needs to be careful for them. Muk, Mareanie or an unpredicted Silvally-Poison can be a problem.

  • Its low speed makes it vulnerable against faster Pokemon who can outspeed or revenge it, such as Swanna and Electivire. Exeggutor (egg is a better example as it can always 1hko and outspeed it, shows how slow it is relative to the other midspeed breakers / walls)

Moves
========

  • Play Rough makes Granbull the only prominent Fairy-type physical attacker. (Stab moves arent needed here, also untrue as LO Maw has its own set / analysis)
  • To make up for Granbull's resists, it uses its most important coverage move Earthquake to hit Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types super effectively.
  • Close Combat gives a useful Fighting move. It is also effective because of how common Normal-types are and Granbull can hit Ice-types super effectively. like Lickilicky (gave an example of a normal it outspeeds / beats, ice types are kind of irrelevant here and it already has Fire Punch for them too)
  • Fire Punch is an option to hit Bronzor super effectively. Bronzor otherwise resists Granbull's STAB and it is immune to Earthquake.
Set Details
========
  • Choice Band and Adamant nature gives Granbull a skyhigh attack stat, which makes breaking much easier. Adamant nature with 252 Attack is needed for the good breaking power. Granbull doesn't outspeed many Pokemons naturally, however 252 Speed let it outspeed Pokemon who have a higher speed stat, for example Lickilicky, Bouffalant and uninvested Komala. (Fluff and somewhat irrelevant as bouf and kom almost always speed creep ada Golem anyways so Gran is usually slower, and the Adamant nature investment can be said in the beginning along side CB)
Usage Tips
========

  • Granbull works best early game, because it can function as an excellent wallbreaker. Thanks to its coverage and raw power Granbull can punch holes in the opposing team early game. (This is the same role you mentioned before in the last sentence and just fluffs this point) Granbull can come in on Pokemons, such as Kecleon and Physical Combusken Pinsir. Granbull has to be careful that it doesn't lose its Choice Band and Granbull by a Knock Off from these two, and should switch in with caution should be careful, because it is not very bulky. (Phsyical busken can easily 2hko CB gran without a prob thanks to firum z and takes 40-47% anways from blitz. Pinsir is more consistent of a potential switch in + goes well with the next point about preserving CB cause it also runs Knock off, which is worth stressing directly as it explains how Gran would lose its item here)
  • With Granbull's strong power and Intimidate, it forces a lot of switches, such as Kecleon and physical Shiftry. Lickilicky Granbull should use its coverage to punish incoming Pokemons that resist Granbull's STAB, like Mareanie and Bronzor with Earthquake and Fire Punch. Granbull has to be careful, Choice Band boosts Granbull's breaking power, however, Granbull will be choiced locked.
  • To stop physical attackers from sweeping Granbull has Intimidate to lower their attack stat, this is useful for Pokemons like Crustle, Pinsir and Leafeon.
Team Options
========

  • Granbull works best on balance or bulky offense. Granbull provides the teams wallbreaking with appreciates Stealth Rocks really helping Granbull to do that job. wallbreak. (I dont want GP to think that granbull sets SR for the team, as thats what it could be implied with how its worded now)
  • Golem and Camerupt offer Granbull the best synergy. They can set up Stealth Rock and have a good matchup against Steel-, Fire- and Poison-Types.
  • Granbull appreciates cleaners in its team. Cleaners like scarfed Swanna and Z-Me First Pinsir can finish Granbull's job in wearing down teams. They have a high speed and finish damaged Pokemons. (Fluff and implied when you mentioned them as cleaners, remove)
  • Knock off also helps Granbull's breaking potentional against Eviolite walls like physically defensive Mareanie and Dusclops , especially Shiftry helps Granbull taking down walls. (Shifts gone and Knock for walls is really only relevant for the Evio walls in the tier so give examples like these two)
  • Because of the low special defense from Granbull, Granbull likes to rely on pokemons with great special defense. Pokemons like Kecleon and Muk are excellent partners for Granbull.
  • Hazard removal and pivoting also makes up for good support for Granbull, that is why Silvally-Water and -Fighting are good partners.

Moves
========

  • Play Rough and Earthquake are Granbull's damage moves. Play Rough is there for STAB and Earthquake for Pokemon who resist its STAB, like Rapidash and Muk. (You dont need to mention stabs in move details, just keep EQ’s purpose here)
  • For status spread moves Granbull can use Toxic or Thunder Wave. Toxic helps Granbull wearing down Pokemon that aims to check and also cripples opposing walls, such as physical defense Golem and Gourgeist-XL. Thunder Wave lowers opponent's speed which is great for team support, Granbull can move first next turn or it provides support for other slow Pokemons.
  • Thanks to Heal Bell Granbull can clear status from the team.
  • Roar can be used over status or Heal Bell if phaze is useful for the team. It is a good option against set up Pokemons, like Bouffalant, or if Granbull is used with hazard stack.
Set Details
========

  • With max HP and max Defense Granbull can fulfil its role the best. Max Defense let Granbull tank many mons easier, like Komala, Electivire and physical Shiftry. (Max evs are fluff in set details)
  • Leftovers will provide Granbull recovery through the whole game, unless it is knocked off. (Describing what leftovers does is fluff in set details)
  • Normalium Z is used to give Granbull a 100% healing with Z-Heal Bell once. It also makes Granbull an excellent Knock Off absorber. (Mention here instead that leftovers can be used when the team would rather have another Z move user)
Usage Tips
========

  • Granbull is excellent to sponge physical hits, so Granbull will often be used to switch in physical attackers, like Rapidash and Bouffalant Kecleon (See earlier, bouf easly breaks phys def gran, while kec is one of the main reasons to use gran as a phys wall)
  • Shiftry is a huge threat and Granbull works well to check Shiftry, Granbull needs to be careful for Leaf Storm though.
  • Because there is a great variety of Pokemon that spread status, Granbull can be used to clear al the status, that is very useful against Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL and Altaria (just adding another status user example with Toxic Alt, which is also more pressured by gran than gourg is)
  • Granbull should be careful against Pokemon that are mixed, have both physical and special sets like Swanna and Combusken, as it can easily die to special moves. (Mixed attackers arent nearly as relevant or threatening to Gran as mons that run phys / special sets, as gran can check Bb swan but not hurricane swan, so change this point to reflect this)
  • Thanks to its Fairy typing Granbull can resist common types and some switches are safe against Pokemon like Silvally-Fighting.
  • Granbull works throughout the whole game, but it can be chipped easily so Granbull has to be careful about its recovery.
Team Options
========

Komala and Licklicky are good partners, because they provide Granbull recovery and Granbull gives them a fighting resist.
  • Offensive Pokemons are also recommended, support Granbull doesn't offer much offensive pressure, however it can give offensive Pokemons, like Pinsir, Shiftry and Abomasnow free switches and clear their status, which is useful when physical Pokemons are burned. The offensive Pokemons do the breaking, which Granbull lacks. Intimidate helps teammates come in more easily, not nessarily for free though. (Not a relevant team option point, remove)
  • (Mention that as a physical wall Gran can have trouble checking the strong normal attackers of the tier like CB Kom and SD Silvally, and could be paired with Gourg-XL or Golem)
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

===================

[OVERVIEW]

Granbull's great typing, strong attack, solid physical bulk, amazing ability in Intimidate and access to good coverage moves, status and Heal Bell make it an excellent breaker or defensive Pokemon for a variety of teams. BP was right, this is a bit wordy and it's practically an overview of the overview. cut this first sentence out and start from here:
Granbull's STAB fairy typing is quite unique in ZU and allows Granbull to threaten common Pokemon, like Silvally-Fighting and -Dark. Granbull excels as an excellent breaker due to its coverage options. Granbull can hit Fairy resists super effectively with Earthquake and Fire Punch, like Muk and Bronzor. Being a good breaker is not Granbull's only strong quality, it is also a good support due to Heal Bell and status. Its Intimidate is a bonus for its bulk, which makes it a solid physical defensive Pokemon, that checks Scarf Pinsir and Silvally-Fighting. However, Granbull has low Special Defense, which is not beneficial against Pokemon who can run special and physical sets, like Swanna, Combusken and Floatzel. Mention Granbull's speed and point out that this leaves it vulnerable to being pressured out by faster special attackers. Granbull is also prone to chip damage and still faces competition from physical walls, like Golem and Gourgeist-XL. Lacking reliable recovery is also a bad thing for Granbull, it has to rely on Leftovers or Z-Heal Bell to keep itself healthy. Its low speed makes it vulnerable against faster Pokemon who can outspeed or revenge it, such as Swanna and Exeggutor.

To make up for Granbull's resists, it uses its most important coverage move Earthquake to hit Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types super effectively. such as? e.g. muk, metang, rapidash. Close Combat gives a useful Fighting move. being a fighting-type move isn't worthy in and of itself. also, specify its main use is in 2HKOing avalugg after stealth rock (and has a 30% to 2HKO without). It is also effective because of how common Normal-types, like Lickilicky, are. specify that close combat is capable of OHKOing lickilicky after rocks, as well as OHKOing bouff and silvally. play rough is already 2HKOing every relevant normal-type so just hitting them super effectively isn't enough. Fire Punch is an option used to hit Bronzor super effectively. Bronzor otherwise resists Granbull's STAB and it is immune to Earthquake. move fire punch above EQ in set details

Usage Tips

Granbull works best early game, because it can function as an excellent wallbreaker. Granbull can come in on Pokemons physical attackers that struggle to threaten it, such as Kecleon and Pinsir. silvally-fighting and silvally-dark (positives first), Granbull has to be careful that it doesn't lose its Choice Band by a Knock Off from these two and should switch in with caution. rewrite this to follow up the previous sentence,explain that granbull should be careful of physical attackers that carry knock off because it lowers granbull's damage output massively. pinsir can actually threaten granbull pretty hard if it's SD so change the example to smth like machoke. With Granbull's strong power and Intimidate, it forces a lot of switches, such as Kecleon and Lickilicky. you've used kec above. specify that it can force out slow or passive pokemon, e.g. licki, altaria Granbull should use its coverage to punish incoming Pokemons that resist Granbull's STAB, like Mareanie and Bronzor with Earthquake and Fire Punch. Granbull has to be careful, Choice Band boosts Granbull's breaking power, however, Granbull will be choiced locked. you don't need to explain what choice band does just clarify that granbull can be taken advantage of by setup sweepers if it locks itself into certain moves, e.g. fire punch and eq giving combusken and swanna setup. To stop physical attackers from sweeping Granbull has Intimidate to lower their attack stat, this is useful for Pokemons like Crustle, Pinsir and Leafeon. granbull doesn't really beat set-up sweepers even after intimidate:
+1 252+ Atk Crustle Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Granbull: 294-346 (91.5 - 107.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+1 252 Atk Leafeon Leaf Blade vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Granbull: 249-294 (77.5 - 91.5%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
you have the right idea, but instead of set-up sweepers just say that intimidate lets it live hits from stronger physical breakers like komala and golem, so it can take a hit and act as an offensive check to them if kept healthy.

Team Options

Granbull works best on balance or bulky offense. Granbull appreciates Stealth Rocks, because that makes wallbreaking a lot easier. Golem and Camerupt offer Granbull the best synergy. camerupt isn't especially great - bronzor is a better shout, since it has a better matchup vs walls like physdef golem, checks special attackers & still handles things like gourg while getting a dark resist in return. also, avoid terms like "best" because meta development can very quickly make that outdated. They can set up Stealth Rock and have a good matchup against Steel-, Fire- and Poison-Types. Granbull appreciates cleaners in its team. Cleaners like scarfed Swanna and Z-Me First Pinsir can finish Granbull's job in wearing down teams. appreciate granbull's ability to weaken mons such as __ and __. Knock Off support (from?) also helps Granbull's breaking potentional against Eviolite walls like physically defensive Mareanie and Dusclops. bronzor and metang, and can help secure a 2HKO on pyukumuku after stealth rock with play rough. Because of the low special defense from Granbull, Granbull likes to rely on pokemons with great special defense. Thunder Wave lowers opponent's speed which is great for team support, Granbull can move first next turn or it provides support for other slow Pokemons don't just explain what paralysis does. what pokemon does thunder wave cripple? what switchins does it hurt?. Thanks to Heal Bell Granbull can clear status from the team. Roar can be used over status or Heal Bell if phaze is useful for the team. It is a good option against set up Pokemons, like Bouffalant, or if Granbull is used with hazard stack.

Normalium Z is used to give Granbull a 100% healing with Z-Heal Bell once. It also makes Granbull an excellent Knock Off absorber. "knock off absorber" is not a role now that shiftry is gone. knock off is still relevant, but just say it lets granbull more reliably check knock off users like kecleon and defensive komala. Leftovers is another option for recovery when team rather has another Z-move user

Granbull is excellent to sponge physical hits, so Granbull will often be used to switch in physical attackers, like Rapidash and Kecleon. Granbull works throughout the whole game, but it can be chipped easily so Granbull has to be careful about its recovery.

Offensive Pokemons are also recommended, support Granbull doesn't offer much offensive pressure, however it can give offensive Pokemons, like Pinsir free switches and clear their status, which is useful when physical Pokemons are burned. granbull doesn't give pinsir free switches, unless i'm entirely misunderstanding what you mean. rewrite this sentence and concisely explain that physical attackers like pinsir appreciate heal bell curing burn and poison. also, name offensive pokemon that appreciate thunder wave support. The offensive Pokemons do the breaking, which Granbull lacks. not overly relevant to granbull specifically, instead reference pokemon like simisear that can pressure granbull's primary switchins (e.g. bronzor) and appreciate heal bell support. Granbull's capability to absorb Knock Off is helpful for Pokemon, such as Mareanie, Beheeyem and Bronzor mareanie and bronzor can also check certain special attackers for granbull (name them). Pokemons that can cover Granbull's weaknesses make great partners for it. Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash, Gabite and Camerupt work excellent with Granbull. They resist Granbull's weaknesses in what sense? and offer Stealth Rocks.

Granbull can also a use a mix between Choice Band and Support set an offensive support set. The offensive support set runs Heal Bell, Play Rough, Earthquake and Thunder Wave with max HP and max Attack. you'd be taking 40 EVs from HP to put 44 in speed to outpace base 50s like licki and metang The set uses breaking power and lowers Speed stat from the opponent. The set has both great qualities from Granbull, good physical bulk and strong attack, but excels in neither. So the other sets are more effective. give more detail on its flaws; for example, the lack of defensive investment means it can't reliably check physical attackers like rapidash, and offensively it puts out far less damage and is walled by bronzor.

give a nod to toxic over CC on band, it effectively negates leftovers damage and lets granbull reliably 2HKO Z-pyuku after rocks (75% for lefties) w/play rough in exchange for a worse avalugg matchup
and sacrificing a powerful middle-ground coverage move

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Special Attackers**: Strong special breakers that are also faster threaten Granbull heavily. Pokemons such as Kadabra exeggutor, special Swanna and Simisear fall in that category. kadabra can't really threaten it without a notable amount of chip. add a line about how none of them can switch directly into granbull and all of them risk being crippled by the defensive set

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon can revenge offensive Granbull without any worry, because of Granbull's mediocre Speed. Faster Pokemon on a revenge also don't suffer from the Intimidate drop. "faster pokemon" is already covered in the above section.

**Steel-types**: Although Earthquake hits Steel-types hard, Granbull still struggles against them, because Granbull can be choiced locked or the Steel-types are too bulky. Bronzor is especially a struggle due to the Levitate ability. be more specific please. what steel-types can switch into granbull? what coverage moves do they have to be wary of?

**Residual damage** : Chip damage, entry hazards, not cured status and Leech Seed are a big problem, as a result of the lack of recovery. there's no such thing as not cured status. also, specify that granbull is affected by all 3 types of entry hazards and the band set is especially prone to burn and poison since it can't cure itself with heal bell.

**Poison-types**: Poison-types take more damage than Steel-types, but Granbull still needs to be careful for them. Muk, Mareanie or an unpredicted Silvally-Poison can be a problem. not especially good switchins; poison-types tend to risk a lot more by switching in than steel-types do.

Granbull works best on balance or bulky offense. Granbull appreciates Stealth Rocks, because that makes wallbreaking a lot easier. Golem and Bronzor offer Granbull useful synergy. Granbull appreciates cleaners in its team. Cleaners like scarfed Swanna and Z-Me First Pinsir appreciate Granbull's ability to weaken mons such as Altaria and Lickilicky I mean, you don't really "weaken" Altaria insomuch as straight up obliterate it haha. Lickilicky/defensive Golem would be better examples respectively imo. and the cleaners can take care of faster Pokemon Pinsir can't really, pre-setup anyway. Knock Off support from Pokemon, such as Pawniard and Leafeon helps Granbull's breaking potentional against Eviolite walls, like Bronzor and Metang and can secure a 2HKO on Pyukumuku after Stealth Rock with Play Rough. Because of the low special defense from Granbull, Granbull likes to rely on pokemons with great special defense. Offensive Pokemons are also recommended, support Granbull doesn't offer much offensive pressure, however it can give offensive Pokemons, like Pinsir switches on physical attackers, such as Silvally-Dark and Golem. And clear their status, which is useful when physical Pokemons, like Pinsir, are burned or paralyzed. Offensive pokemon like Exeggutor and Bouffalant appreciate Granbull's Thunder Wave support, because their low speed stat. Granbull also likes the support from offensive, such as Simisear, to wear down Granbull's primary switchins, like Bronzor. Granbull's capability to absorb Knock Off is helpful for Pokemon, such as Mareanie, Beheeyem and Bronzor. Especially Mareanie and Bronzor are useful partners, because they check special attackers, Swanna and Exeggutor in return. Pokemons that can cover Granbull's weaknesses make great partners for it. Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash, Gabite Not meta relevant and Camerupt work excellent with Granbull. They offer Stealth Rock and a free switchin for Muk. Their Ground STABs also pressure Granbull's weaknesses, Poison-, Fire- and Steel types. This reads like Granbull is weak to Fire-type attacks; worth clarifying.

Granbull can also an offensive support set. The offensive support set runs Heal Bell, Play Rough, Earthquake and Thunder Wave with max Attack, 40 Speed Evs and rest in HP. The amount of Speed EVs is used for Pokemon, like Lickilicky. However the set has some important flaws, because Granbull doesn't have enough defensive investment, which means it can't check physical attackers, such as Rapidash, reliably. Offensivly Granbull puts out far less damage and is easily walled by Bronzor. Another option is to put Toxic on the Choice Band set instead of Close Combat. Toxic effectively negates Leftovers and lets Granbull 2HKO Z-Pyukumuku after Rocks. Granbull sacrifices a powerful coverage move in Close Combat, which makes up for a worse Avalugg matchup.

Checks and Counters

**Special Attackers**: Strong special breakers that are also faster threaten Granbull heavily. Pokemons such as Exeggutor, special Swanna and Simisear fall in that category. However these attackers can't directly switch into Granbull and all of them risk being crippled by the defensive set.

**Steel-types**: Although Earthquake hits Steel-types hard, like Metang. Granbull still struggles against them, Bronzor is especially a struggle due to the Levitate ability.

**Residual damage** : Chip damage, entry hazards, status and Leech Seed are a big problem, as a result of the lack of recovery. Granbull is affected by every type of hazards and Choice Band Granbull is prone to burn and poison, since it can't cure itself with Heal Bell.

Be smart about when to use Z-Heal Bell, as Granbull can only use it once and it needs to avoid being chipped into KO range by Pokemon such as Rapidash.

Team Options
========

Because support Granbull works best on balance teams, it appreciates a teammate with good Special Defense. Pokemon like Altaria, Kecleon, Muk, and Lickilicky offer Granbull's team safe switch-ins to special attackers like Kadabra and Swanna. Komala and Lickilicky are good partners, as they provide Granbull with recovery via Wish, (AC) and Granbull gives them acts as a switch-in to Fighting-types like Silvally-Fighting. Offensive Pokemon like Pinsir are also recommended, as support Granbull doesn't offer much offensive pressure; it can support them by switching into physical attackers, such as Silvally-Dark and Golem, and cure them of status afflictions such as like burn or and paralysis. Offensive Pokemon like Exeggutor and Bouffalant also appreciate Granbull's Thunder Wave support because of their low Speed stats. In return, Granbull also likes attackers such as Simisear wearing down its primary switch-ins like Bronzor. Granbull's capability to absorb Knock Off is helpful for Pokemon such as Mareanie, Beheeyem, and Bronzor. Mareanie and Bronzor are especially useful partners because they check special attackers, (RC) like Swanna and Exeggutor, (RC) in return. Pokemon that can cover Granbull's weaknesses make great partners for it. Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash, and Camerupt work excellently with Granbull it, as they offer Stealth Rock support and a free switch-in for Muk, and their STAB moves pressure Poison- and Steel-types (AH).

Other Options
=============

Granbull can also run an offensive support set of Heal Bell / Play Rough / Earthquake / Thunderwave Wave with an EV spread of 216 HP / 252 Atk / 40 Spe. The Speed EVs let Granbull outspeed Lickilicky. However, this set has some important flaws; because for example, (AC) Granbull doesn't have enough defensive investment, which means it can't check physical attackers, such as Rapidash, reliably.

===================

**Faster Special Attackers**: Strong special wallbreakers that are faster than Granbull threaten it heavily. Pokemon such as Exeggutor, special Swanna, and Simisear fall into this category. However, these attackers can't directly switch into Granbull and risk being crippled by the defensive set.

**Steel-types**: Although Earthquake hits Steel-types like Metang hard, (AC) Granbull still struggles against them. Bronzor is especially a struggle due to its ability Levitate ability.

**Residual Damage**: Chip damage from entry hazards, status, and Leech Seed is a big problem for Granbull due to its lack of recovery. Granbull is affected by every type of entry hazard, (AC) and Choice Band Granbull is prone to being inflicted by burn and poison, (AC) status since it can't cure itself with Heal Bell.

[OVERVIEW]

Granbull's excels as a wallbreaker in ZU thanks to its unique mono-Fairy typing, (AC) is unique in ZU and which allows it to threaten common Pokemon like Silvally-Fighting and Silvally-Dark, (comma) Granbull excels as a wallbreaker due to its and coverage options in Earthquake and Fire Punch, which allow it to hit Fairy-resistant Pokemon like Muk and Bronzor super effectively. Granbull is also prone susceptible to chip damage and faces competition from other physical walls like Golem and Gourgeist-XL. A Lack of reliable recovery also hurts Granbull; it has to rely on Leftovers or Z-Heal Bell to keep itself healthy.

Close Combat It is also capable of OHKOing Lickilicky after Stealth Rock damage, as well as OHKOing Bouffalant and Silvally.

Intimidate lets Granbull tank hits from strong physical attackers like Komala and Golem and can as well as act as an offensive check to them if kept healthy.

Usage Tips
========

Granbull works best early-game as an excellent wallbreaker. It can come in on physical attackers that struggle to threaten it, such as Silvally-Fighting and Silvally-Dark. Granbull should be cautious of physical attackers like Kecleon and Machoke that carry Knock Off, however, because losing Choice Band lowers Granbull's its damage output massively. With Granbull's great power and Intimidate, it forces a lot of switches from slow or passive Pokemon, such as Lickilicky and Altaria. In these situations, Granbull should use its coverage moves to punish incoming Pokemon that resist Play Rough, such as Earthquake and Fire Punch for Mareanie and Fire Punch for Bronzor, respectively. However, be aware that setup sweepers, like Swanna and Combusken, can take advantage of Granbull being Choice-locked into these moves.

Team Options
========

Pokemon like Kecleon and Muk, (AC) are excellent partners for Granbull, as they which give its team a comfortable switch-in to special attackers like Swanna and Raichu. Granbull can switch into physical attackers such as Silvally-Fighting and Silvally-Ground for them in return. Entry hazard removal and pivoting moves also greatly support Granbull, which is why Silvally-Water and Silvally-Fighting are good partners.

It is a good option against setup Pokemon like Bouffalant or if Granbull is used on an entry hazard stacking (RH) team.

Set Details
========

Normalium Z is used to give Granbull a one-time full restoration of its health with Z-Heal Bell once. Holding Normalium Z also lets Granbull check Knock Off users like Kecleon and Leafeon more reliably. Leftovers is another option for recovery if Granbull's team already has a Z-Move user.
