Silvally-Grass's typing and solid bulk make it a threatening setup sweeper capable of taking advantage of and beating common defensive threats, like Mareanie, Palpitoad, Mawile, and Gourgeist-XL. Substitute allows Silvally-Grass to avoid status from the likes of Klang while also making it considerably harder to revenge kill and giving it more setup opportunities. Flame Charge allows Silvally-Grass to outspeed threats like Silvally-Bug and Raichu after being used once and Choice Scarf users like Manectric and Mr. Mime after being used twice. It also targets Steel-, Grass- and Bug-types like Pawniard, Shiinotic, and the aforementioned Silvally-Bug. The HP EVs allow Silvally-Grass to always survive one Overheat from Choice Scarf Manectric after Stealth Rock damage and, in tandem with its Defense EVs and an Impish nature, make defensive Mawile unable to break Silvally-Grass' Substitute with Play Rough. Lastly, the Speed EVs allow it to outspeed Jolly Falinks and slower threats like Mr. Rime.
Silvally-Grass appreciates teammates capable of taking on Pokemon like Gloom and Drakloak it struggles against. Mr. Mime is an excellent partner, as it takes both of these on and appreciates Silvally-Grass pressuring Steel-types like Klang it can struggle against. Silvally-Grass also greatly appreciates Mr. Mime's ability to bring it back to full health with Healing Wish, giving it another chance to sweep. Answers to threats like Galarian Mr. Mime and Falinks that pressure Silvally-Grass if it hasn't set up or doesn't have a Substitute up are very appreciated. Klang deals with Galarian Mr. Mime and Mareanie takes on Falinks, and both appreciate Silvally-Grass pressuring threats they invite in for free, like Stunfisk and Raichu. Klang can also bring Silvally-Grass into the field safely via Volt Switch, while Mareanie can set Toxic Spikes, giving it an easier time cleaning and getting past walls like Shiinotic. It also removes the Toxic Spikes on its side of the field, which are a huge hindrance to Silvally-Grass. Volt Switch and U-turn users like Raichu and Type: Null bring it in against Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL and Mawile it uses as setup fodder. Type: Null also happens to be a reliable switch-in to some of the Pokemon Silvally-Grass struggles against, like Galarian Mr. Mime. Other Pokemon like Manectric, Hitmontop, and Glaceon that invite in more passive walls like Palpitoad, Mareanie, and Throh have good synergy with Silvally-Grass. Healing Wish users like Musharna are very appreciated, as they bring Silvally-Grass back to full health and cure it from any status condition. This allows it to be used more aggressively early- to mid-game and as a switch-in to threats like Raichu and Leafeon and Toxic and Will-O-Wisp users like Palpitoad and Gourgeist-XL.

Silvally-Grass's typing and vast movepool give it a good matchup against prevalent entry hazards setters like Palpitoad and Mawile. Flamethrower is used to threaten Grass-, Bug- and Steel-types like Gourgeist, Silvally-Bug, Mawile, and Pawniard, the latter of which deters Silvally-Grass from using Defog due to Defiant. U-turn allows Silvally-Grass to maintain momentum and pivot out of disadvantageous situations, while Swords Dance makes it considerably more threatening offensively and allows it to 2HKO Mareanie, meaning it can Defog away Mareanie's Toxic Spikes. Flame Charge is an option over Flamethrower if running Swords Dance, as it allows Silvally-Grass to double as a cleaner and pressures Roselia more effectively. However, it gives it a worse matchup against Mawile and isn't very threatening unless Silvally-Grass is already at +2.
Pokemon that appreciate Silvally-Grass's ability to Defog, like non-Heavy-Duty Boots Heatmor and Glaceon, make for good partners. They also appreciate Silvally-Grass bringing them in safely against Pokemon like Klang and Roselia via U-turn. If Silvally-Grass is running Swords Dance, it can pressure walls they struggle against like Mareanie and Type: Null. Walls like Mareanie and Musharna also appreciate Silvally-Grass getting rid of entry hazards. Electric-, Fighting-, and Fire-types like Manectric, Hitmontop, and Raboot appreciate Silvally-Grass taking on Ground-, Ghost-, and Water-types like Palpitoad and Gourgeist-XL, while they deal with Steel-types it struggles against, like specially defensive Mawile. Silvally-Grass greatly struggles against Toxic Spikes, which makes grounded Poison-types like Mareanie incredible partners. They can also take on some of Silvally-Grass's offensive checks, like First Impression Falinks. Silvally-Grass's weakness to Ice- and Fire-types such as Galarian Mr. Mime and Heatmor makes partners like Klang and Carkol much appreciated. In exchange, Silvally-Grass pressures the Ground-types they struggle against, like Hippopotas and Vibrava. Finally, threats like Galarian Mr. Mime and Flame Orb Throh greatly appreciate Silvally-Grass bringing them in safely via U-turn. In return, the former deals with troublesome Poison-types and pressures Flying-types like Gloom and Vespiquen, while the latter threatens Steel-types like Mawile and Klang immensely. The former also has access to Healing Wish, and they both appreciate Silvally-Grass getting rid of entry hazards.
