- Grimmsnarl is a prominent part of Ubers hyper offense teams as the most reliable dual screens setter in the tier.
- Taunt stops would-be setup sweepers, prevents entry hazards from Pokemon like Froslass and Glimmora, and stops Corviknight from using Defog.
- Play Rough is mandatory to deal decent damage to one of the most common Pokemon in the tier in Ting-Lu, which is immune to Taunt and can use Grimmsnarl as setup bait for Spikes, damage it greatly with Ruination, and phaze any incoming Pokemon with Whirlwind. In a pinch, Play Rough also does good damage to Miraidon and Koraidon.
- Tera Ghost is chosen to prevent Great Tusk and Iron Treads from using Rapid Spin, while Tera Steel provides useful resistances, most notably to Fairy-type attacks.
- Grimmsnarl works well when paired with a suicide lead such as Froslass or Glimmora, as they can set up Spikes and Toxic Spikes, thereby giving any setup sweepers a much easier time sweeping.
- Dual screens support gives Pokemon such as Calm Mind Miraidon, Swords Dance Koraidon, and Swords Dance Chien-Pao an easier time setting up and makes revenge killing them significantly harder.
- Iron Moth is a notable teammate for being a strong setup sweeper that can also absorb Toxic Spikes.
