Hacked Pokemon Question

My friend recently gave me a shiny lugia, and said it was hacked. I was wondering, will this lugia damage my game in any way?

Just having a hacked pokemon on your game cannot damage it...I do not know why people actually believe that it can.

Definitely not.

PBR may be programmed to detect hacks (well the detectable ones at least). Plus there is no telling what Nintendo could do to your game at an Nintendo Event but beyond that its all smooth sailing.

Just like what everyone said, having a hacked pokemon and/or hacking the game itself does not damage you game in any way, until you did something that cheat code in question warns you not to do or your overload it with too many codes.

i have an other question while we're on the subject

would a legit pokemon cloned with AR fail the shark test?

Generally, no. And most "hacked" Pokemon won't fail it either as long as they have relatively legitimate stats, at that. There are some flags to watch out for, but the better hacks just force a wild encounter, and there's really no way to check for those.

Straight out creation of something in your party, those can be detected if done wrong.

As for AR cloning, I wasn't aware it existed (makes sense though), but with so many legitimate cloning techniques, I'd wonder why even bother?

Legitimate as in no 255 EVs on all stats or 999 stats?

The code for AR cloning was probabrly made for people who don't have Wifi or can't afford to get those Wifi connector things.

Speaking of cloning, you can clone stuff via WiFi trade (I accidentally cloned a Giratina when trading with SePh. His connection accidentally went off. SePh lost his Latias, and he and I have the exact Giratina). This seems to be the only possible way to clone the movie darkrai, unless the relieve the Ribbon ban on the GTS (you can't put up a pokemon with a classic ribbon for trade)

what is the shark test? its obviously a test to see whether or not something is hacked but what do they check for it? (I'd like to see if some stuff I traded for is legit)

One way Nintendo uses is check your "event history". If you have played FRLG you may have noticed that the game shows you the last 5 things you did since you saved last time. This is similar and helps to see if Pokemon appeared out of nowhere in your party or are actually obtained in a legit way.

The event history only goes a week back, right? So if you do your POKESAV-based hacking a couple weeks before an event, would you be in the clear assuming your hack was consistent in stats, encounter info, etc?

Does anyone know how it exactly works? And if works during Wi-Fi trade, does it work during regular trade?

It might have to do with the lag over wifi, so there's a good chance it wouldn't work with a regular trade. But you never know.

Jibaku, at what point during the trade did SePh's connection go out?

In RBY or perhaps in GSC a slightly wrong code could wreck your game.I think that's why a lot of people think a hacked pokémon can ruin your game.(ADV and DP are more secure so it can't happen there.)

I don't exactly remember, but i think it's when we're confirming our trades. There was a pause, and SePh's connection died

In ADV, every save game point is kept in your game. Nintendo completely rewinded the participants' games when they had them turn them in early. They checked every part of the game for signs of sharking. When they gave the game back to someone, it was about 5 saves previous to where it was when they were ready for the JAA. He had to fix his game and I believe that it set up the round 1 Justin vs. Roy matchup since he was supposed to be one of their opponents.

I really want to see what Nintendo uses to rewind the games and how it works.

I tried cloning something once with my friend that way, Jibaku. It was just using Wireless. It didn't work, but that was only one test run and I think I cut it off at the wrong time.

I guess I should get Diamond, then, to trade my Pearl hacks. Nintendo wouldn't like a game where Florama Meadow and Valor Lake are blocked, there are grunts all over the place, but the story has been completed.

Anyway, no damage. Just don't make many of the at once.

And encounter codes are pretty bad: An Arceus caught at Lv. 2 in route 201 is not making the cut.

If you have any semblance of intelligence, you'd catch the Pokemon at the appropriate level and location.

Yeah, but what if you're trying to catch, for example, a Mewtwo in R/S/E?

I think the most common "legit" hack would be max IVs. All you gotta do is check for that. Generally speaking, if you see a poke with max IVs across the board, it's hacked.

Also, what about Pal Parked pokes? They're not from the original game and they don't sure level met, where met, etc? Can they check for those?
