Part of me just wonders if it just has to do with how people have grown up with Pokemon for years (and some its been there their whole life). Pokemon does not shy away from sexy designs (for trainers or certain Pokemon; oh, and for both genders though obviously woman are more subject to this), or having a character that's cute, wholesome, or likeable in other ways. For kids these are just fun and interesting characters, though for older and teen fans it's not hard to think these characters serve as a bit of eye candy, especially if the character has a lot of interactions with the players and develop their relationship with them.
Yeah nah its a huge thing in games marketed mainly towards children (e.g a lot of Nintendo games, especially Pokemon) that also have an older audience. Nice little things that kids can harmlessly skip over but adults/teens might get a chuckle out of.
There's a move that gets stronger when you keep using it in a row.
It's a BUG-type move, and it is wickedly cool.

When I was just a wee YOUNGSTER, those ladies were strong and beautiful. They were idols among us TRAINERS.
Even now, age hasn't dulled their abilities. In fact, their POKéMON moves have grown even more polished.

Two particularly funny ones from RBY I discovered in my ongoing RB 3DS VC playthrough:
One between two people trading in Celadon:
"Alright! My buddy's going to trade his KANGASKHAN for my GRAVELER!"
"Come on GRAVELER! I love GRAVELER! I collect them! Huh? GRAVELER turned into a different POKEMON!"
And one Roughneck (Cue Ball) in the bike road:
"My POKEMON won't evolve! Why?"
(You battle him, his Pokemon turns out to be a Machoke)
After beating him:
"Maybe some POKEMON need element STONEs to evolve"
It's pretty funny how these two are showing off two of the trade evos in weird ways. One of them indirectly hints at Golem's existence, which is very notable since no in-game Trainer at all uses Golem, so hypothetically a new player could go the whole game without realizing Golem exists. The other is a Machoke, who one NPC wants to evolve but can't, and maybe by process of elimination and reading the report in Silph Co (there's a report in Silph Co noting four Pokemon evolve via trade) they'll figure out Machamp is another one of the two.

Big same on hating Trade Evos, at the very least they should have items that let you do it on their own, with Trading being the faster & easier to repeat method.
But I at least have a DS & 3DS, two GBAs and a GBA link cable (only thing I had to go out of my way to get as the others were gifts from over the years) so I can easily trade with myself for the Gen 3, 4, and 5 games, but that is still kind of gaming the system.

And then in Yellow you can trade a Cubone to a kid on Route 5 for RICKY the Machoke and instantly get yourself a Machamp, so now you can figure this out much earlier than Silph co, and even taunt the poor Roughncek by beating him with RICKY!

RBY really was a special breeding ground for rumors, though. MissingNo's existence and the myriad of abusable glitches made just about any half-baked theory sound plausible.

Lmaooo so Scarlet is my 2nd Pokemon game. I hear about anihilape, and I'm like, that sounds super cool. So I get Primeape. I don't really think too hard about how evolutions work, so I carry it with me throughout the game to the point it's at level 70, and still hasn't evolved. I don't know any better, but at this point I've beaten the game and want to know how much further I have to go. Look at up and come to find out it's some move that I never even bothered to press...
See that's the thing!! I prefer level up evolutions or similar things I can figure out by myself (or get directly told I suppose) because it's fun to go in blind and let them occur naturally. Trade evolutions suck because they make certain Pokemon hard to use in regular playthroughs, and in general complicated evolution methods don't age well the second that Pokemon's generation is over and it just becomes another step in completing the dex in future games. It's so annoying in Gens 4 and 5 how many lategame items are for specific Pokemon evolutions (which also means you are limited as to when you can evolve them).
Anyways, on topic, here are my top 3:
1) (B&W in Celestial Tower) NPC Before battle: "I have a really strong Pokemon and will beat you!!"
NPC After Battle: "That Pokemon is no longer with me"
(I may have bungled the wording there)
2). Everything involving the Trendy Phrase in Dewford Town. I'm friends with a bunch of alt kids (hipsters) in real life, and they all talk like that. Every playthrough I take a video of the phrase because it's so fitting
3). (In DPPt) NPC: I love nicknaming Pokemon something apt and personal
NPC's Friend: He called his Psyduck Yellow
(again paraphrasing) this one is a common joke, but this is my favorite iteration of it.
This definitely isn't hilarious although reading through this thread it's clear that's never stopped anyone before, but your mother's first bit of dialogue in RBY is kinda baffling:

I think in the earlier games they were really gunning for brevity, especially in the English translations. I imagine that this statement is meant to represent something more sensical and poignant, like "I guess it's finally time for you to go on a big adventure, just like those boys on the TV. Kids grow up so fast!" etc etc

...That's the games with Stand By Me playing on the TV, right? (wiki's) Yep, she's literally watching a movie about a group of kids going to see a dead body and nearly dying or being tortured multiple times along the way when she tells the player to leave home on his own. Great parenting, Ma.
(in the remakes, female characters have The Wizard of Oz on the TV, which is better but also begs the question of why they felt they needed to change it and/or only changed it for girls and not boys. Boys can enjoy portal fantasy too, GF!)
They should've just had a Playstation 5 running Deltarune on the TV. That way anyone of any gender (but possibly not older people, because Kris is a kid?) can enjoy their isekais. Yes Playstation 5s and Deltarune definitely did exist at the time.
Speaking of Stand By Me references in Pokemon...

Blue and Sabrina both use Alakazam (the former at Lv35) so you would expect something.
As for Gengar, you can get it from a trade in Cerulean in Blue version (JP), Otherwise, your only hint is its an empty space between Haunter and Onix until Agatha.
