• Hippowdon's ability to remove sun makes it a good check to Koraidon. However, Hippowdon's low Special Defense means it's threatened by most common special attackers such as Iron Bundle, Miraidon, and Flutter Mane; it's also very passive, meaning common sweepers like Annihilape can take advantage of it.
• Whirlwind phazes Pokemon to rack up entry hazard damage; it also phazes boosted Pokemon like Koraidon and Dragonite. Heavy Slam can be used instead to OHKO Flutter Mane and break Gholdengo's Air Balloon.
• Tera Water lets Hippowdon check Choice Band Palafin, Floatzel, and Koraidon; it also provides a resistance to Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash.
• Hippowdon's high Defense lets it switch into common physical attackers such as Dragonite, Koraidon, and Great Tusk and punish their attacks with Rocky Helmet; after living a hit, it can then phaze them with Whirlwind or heal itself with Slack Off.
• Houndstone is Hippowdon's best teammate, as it greatly appreciates sand doubling its Speed. Garganacl and Toxapex are fantastic partners as well; Garganacl gets a Special Defense boost in sand and is also immune to the status that annoys Hippowdon, while Toxapex deals with Pokemon like Chien-Pao.
• Strong specially defensive walls, such as Blissey and Scream Tail, are also needed. Hippowdon checks Koraidon and Kingambit in return.

change order of explanation of WW and Heavy Slam since WW SHOULD be first and it's generally better. Add Toxapex as a teammate; it helps vs Chien-Pao without eating your Tera and can set tspikes meaning you can phaze around even more effectively.
