[SET COMMENTS]
  • Houndstone functions as a wallbreaker and occasional revenge killer for sand teams once some teammates have fainted.
  • Body Press is used to hit Blissey, as well as Tera Normal Flutter Mane.
  • Play Rough is ideal for Choice Band sets to hit common switch-ins such as Koraidon and Ting-Lu. Will-O-Wisp is useful on Spell Tag sets to cripple Koraidon.
  • Choice Band provides more upfront power, allowing Play Rough to OHKO Koraidon and 3HKO Ting-Lu. Spell Tag provides flexibility, easing prediction against teams with Normal-types and making Flutter Mane much easier to deal with by using Shadow Sneak.
  • The given EVs allow Houndstone to outspeed Iron Bundle in sand without Electric Terrain. The rest is dumped into HP.
  • Either Hippowdon or Tyranitar is a mandatory teammate to provide sand so that Houndstone can function. Hippowdon acts as a Koraidon switch-in, while Tyranitar can check Chi-Yu.
  • If not using Hippowdon, a solid Koraidon check such as Great Tusk is highly recommended, as Koraidon's sun can severely limit Houndstone.
  • Pelipper is another Pokemon that will get rid of sand upon entry, so be sure to pack anti-rain options.
  • Houndstone is severely limited by its average Speed even in sand, as well as reliant on fallen teammates to power up Last Respects. This makes Houndstone generally unreliable as a wallbreaker or revenge killer, though it is extremely strong in certain circumstances. As such, be sure to pack alternative wallbreakers and revenge killers.
  • Miraidon is a good teammate, as it can provide both revenge killing and wallbreaking power and appreciates Houndstone breaking down Koraidon and Ting-Lu.

lowercase "s" for "sand", capital P in Pokemon and S in Speed, merge the sentences about Play Rough and Will-O-Wisp into one bullet point, same goes for the item mentions.

  • Houndstone is severely limited by its only average speed even after Sand Stream, as well as relying on fallen teammates to gain power for Last Respects. This makes Houndstone, while extremely strong in certain circumstances, generally unreliable at being a consistent wallbreaker or revenge killer. As such, be sure to pack alternative breakers and revenge killers.
wall breakers

outside of being a bit verbose this is good. 1/2

  • The given EVs (suggest changing to just state the actual Speed EVs rather than vaguely referencing - "132 Speed EVs are enough for Houndstone to...") allows Houndstone to outspeed Iron Bundle in the sand without Electric Terrain. The rest is dumped into HP.
  • Tyranitar or Hippowdon are mandatory teammates to provide the sand that so Houndstone needs to can function (flow changes). Hippowdon acts as a Koraidon switch-in while Tyranitar can check Chi-Yu.

  • Pelipper is another Pokemon that will get rid of sand upon entry, so be sure to pack anti-rain options. (this is more QC but, anti-rain options such as?)
  • Houndstone is severely limited by its only average speed Speed (capitalize stats) even in sand, as well as relying on fallen teammates to gain power for power up (flow) Last Respects. This makes Houndstone, while strong in certain circumstances, generally unreliable at being a consistent as a wallbreaker (removed space in wallbreaker and a little redundancy - if it's unreliable it's not consistent) or revenge killer, though it is extremely strong in certain circumstances (moved for flow and reworded accordingly; use of "while" feels kind of iffy). As such, be sure to pack alternative wallbreakers (removed space) and revenge killers.
  • Miraidon is a recommended (maybe just say "good") teammate, as it can provide both revenge killing and wallbreaking (removed space) power, (RC) and it appreciates Houndstone breaking down Koraidon and Ting-Lu.
