How do you play Pokemon in-game?

I basically catch the first 5 pokemon I see and use those with my starter. I try to keep them all at the same level (screw eving) and I don't really have an HM slave, I just spread out the HMs over all 6 team members. Rarely do I use a pokemon on my team that I caught mid to late game, with the exception of red gyarados in HGSS 'cause its that awesome.

I don't like to EV train in my first run. I tend to catch some Pokemon, see what looks good, and try to get some different types of attacks on each Poke. I try not to use TMs and such. I try to catch a good flying pokemon (for Fly at the very least) and a good water pokemon (for surf, unless my starter was water).

Don't believe I've posted here yet...

Anyway, IVs, EVs and Natures is all for the endgame for me. When going through the game I just nab 6 pokemon I think would be interesting before the second badge and train them all equally. Sometimes if I get a cool gift pokemon or ingame trade, they make it in. Of course, it might take a while before I decide on a steady team; if a pokemon's moveset doesn't get less lame by the time they catch up, I usually stick them in the box.

I catch every pokemon I can until I move on to the next town. I still name all the pokemon I catch, even the ones I don't use and might probably never touch. I usually don't use legends either. I feel like that they're just beginner insurance; ingame anyway.

I tend to catch my team and then trade them over to my flash card and Pokesav the crap out of them until they're all properly EV'd, then I trade them back. I find this the simplest method, considering it's less of a hassle EVing them all at once when I get them ready for competitive shit.

Plus IVs+Items+moves. ^_^

J'aime Pokesav.
