Project How To Lure Week 3

Hey everyone!! I'm here to tell y'all about a set that would undoubtedly lure in and deal heavy damage to Garbodor.

I play dirty (Accelgor) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sticky Hold
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Focus Blast
- Mud Shot
- U-turn/Sludge Bomb/Spikes/Energy Ball

The main selling point here is obviously mud shot, although it's base power isn't high, it still works very well here. Pain split Garbodor can come in on and 1v1 the set otherwise, but not if it eats a mud shot. Let's say you have specs accelgor in vs a Thwackey. You predict the opponent switching into their garb expecting u turn or bug buzz, and instead get smacked by mud shot. Even if they switch out at that point to something like uxie, you would have gotten enough damage on garb to later click specs bug buzz and get a kill. It also has uses against qwilfish and rapidash, who are seen as switch ins to specs accelgor.
Some calcs -

252+ SpA Choice Specs Accelgor Mud Shot vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Garbodor: 194-230 (53.2 - 63.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

After doing this, you can just exploit bug buzz, as mentioned before

252+ SpA Choice Specs Accelgor Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Garbodor: 118-140 (32.4 - 38.4%) -- 98.4% chance to 3HKO

+2 252 SpA Life Orb Gourgeist Psychic vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Garbodor: 361-426 (99.4 - 117.3%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

This is a slight adaptation of the 'standard' special set, with Psychic replacing Fire Blast. I'm not sure if this is the strongest lure as Garb may be fearful of Trick on seeing Gourg in team preview, and also may just switch out once you get to +2 and the opposing player realises it's not a physical set. Losing Fire Blast makes the matchup vs Tangela and Ferro a bit worse but Shadow Ball should tear good chunks at +2 and higher.

Sawk (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy/Mold Breaker/Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Taunt/Stone Edge

Due to the choiced sets being very popular, this set can take advantage of a Garbodor that comes in to absorb a Knock Off and proceed to 2HKO it with EQ. Not really very surprising since every Sawk runs EQ, but its effective as a bluff of the choiced sets

:ss/Miltank:
Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat/Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Milk Drink
- Body Slam
- Earthquake

Most Garbodor will expect a standard bulky stealth rock or cleric set however CurseTank can utilize the opportunity to setup allowing it to 2hko Garbodor after 1 boost and potentially sweep through the rest of the oponents team.

+1 252 Atk Miltank Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 244+ Def Garbodor: 194-230 (53.4 - 63.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

- Acupressure
- Knock Off

Tired of having a trash bag reset hazards after a raw rapid spin? Sick of the physical wall taking down all your weakened attackers! Never fear! Malamar will be there to lure it in! With the bulk to comfortably squeeze in acupressure boosts, garbador will soon discover it won’t be able to ko it at all!:
0 Atk Garbodor Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Malamar: 97-115 (25.7 - 30.5%) -- 2.5% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Garbodor Gunk Shot vs. +2 252 HP / 252+ Def Malamar: 49-58 (13 - 15.4%) -- Lol

This means that if Garbador comes in after malamar knocks something out, like a 20% ferroseed, or when it comes in for a fainted teammate, it will force the garbage bag to think twice before setting up free spikes!

my original post was rejected so im doing a new one. hopefully it's okay that im editing over the flop and not making a new post entirely, im not exactly sure what the proper procedure is here. anyways!

Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Block
- Iron Defense / Flamethrower
- Body Press
- Rest

miltank is drawn in because of thick fat and its ability to sponge typical moves like flamethrower and rock stab and recover up reliably with milk drink. this set aims to trap miltank with block and win the war of attrition. with 248 hp, you are 5hko by seismic toss at full health, meaning you can always easily rest up before you have to worry about being taken out. iron defense up and body press your way to victory. alternatively, you can run flamethrower over iron defense, but body press will make this matchup much easier for you.

252+ Def Coalossal Body Press vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Miltank: 172-204 (43.7 - 51.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252+ Def Coalossal Body Press vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Miltank: 344-406 (87.5 - 103.3%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

Malamar @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Atk / 96 SpD / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Block
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Rest

last week's winning malamar would certainly work here but i wanted to change it up a bit to have a more favorable matchup. definitely not the most optimal spread but for theorymonning, i think it's fine. 136 speed and jolly nature means youre 1 point faster than miltank. 24 atk guarantees a 2hko with superpower after a contrary boost. the moveset is pretty straightforward.
This is not a lure because miltank never come on malamar

Froslass (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Ice Beam

I've been experimenting with special Froslass lately and used a similar set to this on a couple of teams. The idea is Froslass capitalizes on trends like Galarian Rapidash, Jynx, non-Choice Scarf Rotom, and some others and can shut down passive stuff with Taunt and spread status. For example, Steel-types may switch in and take a Wisp or something like Articuno may come in expecting Spikes and you wear it down via attacks and Taunt. In this case, Miltank is a common switch-in to Froslass and this set shuts it down thanks to Taunt.

Going to try to revive the thread here. Alcremie is absolutely deadly as a Double Dance Sweeper with Acid Armor, and while offensive pressure can deter it, chances are Alcremie will be coming in on Scarf Sawk's Close Combat and begin setting up. Pyukumuku falls to stored power. This is the standard set most Alcremies will build with DD:
:ss/alcremie:
Alcremie (F) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Acid Armor
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Rest
Cofagrigus has notably downtrended with how momentum-sinking it is and its bad matchup against Cremie with standard sets. Offensive teams may quickly find themselves unable to significantly damage it, and without dark types, cremie will countersweep. However, I've found a set to be particularly disruptive, as normally, Cofa can't do much aside from Shadow Ball (which Cremie will just boost with calm mind). Here it is:
:ss/cofagrigus:
Cofagrigus @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Block
- Haze
- Rest
- Spite
The idea is to try to trick Cremie into thinking this is one of its traditional ID + BP set. However, once Alcremie switches in, Cofagrigus will trap it, and once Cremie believes it can boost all the way, it will be shocked to see its boosts being erased, while it can't do anything back:
0 SpA Alcremie Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Cofagrigus on a critical hit: 54-64 (16.8 - 20%) -- possible 5HKO
Cofagrigus can then spite Alcremie for being such an oppressive metagame force with Spite.

That's it for now.
