Dodrio can't really take a hit.

Overview
Dodrio is argubably the best Normal/Flying Pokemon in the whole metagame, apart from maybe Swellow. It was fast, it had a high attack. It could do stuff with Flail, and it got the awesome move Drill Peck. The three-headed Emu has changed since the days of RBY, and it just got better in DP.

Subflail. Sadly, you need Quick Attack.

Sub to activate Salac, hope they switch, Endeavor, Quick Attack. Not as good as Flail but good for pokes with high HP and Defense.

Acupressure first turn, Roost when you're low on health, and attack anything else. Maybe Steel Wing over Return for type coverage.

Dodrio has a bad physical movepool, do what you will.

Err, no. Completely outclassed by Staraptor, except for Acupressure. Really, I liked Dodrio, but Staraptor is so much better, and it's even cooler =[
 
Yeah, now Dodrio is doomed to UU, top UU of course, it was BL in the past but now with Staraptor being in OU there's no place for it.

Dodrio Stats: 60 HP / 110 ATK / 70 DEF / 60 SPA / 60 SPD / 100 SPEED
Staraptor Stats: 85 HP / 120 ATK / 70 DEF / 50 SPA / 50 SPD / 100 SPEED

Dodrio's Ability: Run Away / Early Bird
Staraptor's Ability: Intimidate...
 
roost is a intresting idea on a acupuncture+BP set but remember its very fast and if you predict wrong you will lose dodrio to a unexpected EQ

I wouldn't say Staraptor outclasses Dodrio. I'd just say just leave Dodrio for Endflailing or Subflailing, which is something that Staraptor can't do. So I'd leave Dodrio in that niche.

Really, whenever someone mentions Dodrio, I think of the best STAB Endflailer (or Subflailer) in the game.

..What seperates this place from Pojo? Fine, you want a serious post, here's a serious post.

What is with all these "discussion" topics? Nothing ever usually gets discussed. You know why? Because the person posting the topic offers no insight to the Pokemon aswell as any info outside of the basic cut and paste. The person prolly doesn't care either. On the front page alone, this guy Thorns has made 3 discussion topics without replying to a single one. This guy also makes a discussion topic without even seeming to try. I call them out on it, I get modded. Sure I can understand my joke topic, but atleast that topic had more content than this! Deleting my posts on the actual topics themselves is going out of order. Lemme go back into the main page and link all the "discussion" topics not worth it's text:

This also prolly counts, but atleast the OP replied to his thread. All on the first page alone. I glanced into the second page and saw a few more, but rather not link them all since 5 on the first page is explanation enough. I don't see the purpose of making an off-shoot RMT forum, just to have all this shit(that's WORSE than any RMT orgy) run wild.

Moral of my post, don't delete my valid post.
 
I was about to mention Dodrio has Baton Pass and Staraptor doesn't, but Staraptor gets Somersault which does about the same and more unless you're actually passing something. Both of them learn Thief as well, which helps for Shed Shell or Beautiful Skin or whatever the anti-trap item is called.

I disagree for two reasons:
- tier discussion isn't possible without a metagame
- what does it matter for Dodrio's choice between UU and BL if Staraptor is there or not? If Pokemon A is an infinitely superior Pokemon as B, and Pokemon A is OU while B is too strong for UU, does that mean it should go to UU anyway? No, it would go to BL.

Hmm, I'm not sure Dodrio is completely killed off by Staraptor, I'm gonna have to agree with X-Act, Dodrio is the best STAB End/Subflailer in the game. I've liked the bird since RBY, and while it might not move to OU, at least it'll be a good BL pogey. And what about BL tourneys where OUs are banned? No Staraptor there, so Dodrio isn't doomed.
