Idea for a Pokemon Wii Game

Not yet, but I will in most likely a week. I agree with you, Smogon is much more clear.
Ok. If you do, drop me a pm here with the url. I'd like to keep informed on both forums. I would be happy to be the messenger who writes down all the new contributions from Serebii to Smogon.
 
the people on smogon are smarter too. sorry about this, but I will not be able to make the hoenn e4 movesets as soon as planned. I may be able to get them up by tonight though.
 
Maybe its too late, but could I recommend (for our use) to NOT all of the moves? I mean, this is only for a demo-like thing for Nintendo to see, correct? If so, I don't think its necessary to implement every single move and pokemon. And even if we do program it ourselves, having so many moves would make each move sloppy, poorly implemented, and/or take too long to keep everyone's interest.

How about for RBY, we only use the original moves? Just a suggestion to keep it realistic.
 
Well, the pitch is only going to be Pallet Town, and maybe a few routes. We wont have the chance to implement all the moves, but having a plan on the workings is probably a good idea.

How about this for targeting. It's simple.

Speed basically just determines who attacks first, right?

Well, since it's real-time... Is speed even necessary? Perhaps a Dodge stat instead.

Well, here's the idea. Simply auto-target opponents when you're in attacking range. And then, use Attack Accuracy, and Dodge stats to determine whether an attack will hit or not.

It's that simple... Maybe you guys want it more complex, but I really think something like this would work...

100 accuracy- always hits
90 accuracy- 90% chance (just use a random number generator to determine if things will hit or not)

Then the Dodge factor
Dodge stat will be... a regular stat that you divide by idk... ten, and use as a percentage chance to dodge oncoming attacks.

i.e. Dodge stat of 250 would dodge 25% of attacks.

Actually that's way too high of a dodge rate, but you get the idea... the numbers are trivial at this stage imo.

Time frame is flexible, and I believe we are going to use all of the moves. We are only programming the first few routes and towns, so the only moves we are going to program would be the simplistic ones (ie. Tackle, Growl). the Gym Leader movesets can have any moves we want, seeing as we will not be programming that far into the game.

As far as deadlines for movesets, does it sound plausible for all of the movesets to be in by this Friday? We've kind of hit a wall, and I feel like deadlines are needed to keep things running smoothly.

EDIT: @Art: are you going to post the new Kanto League, indtead of the one on the OP? We've already decided on Pokemon and levels, so all that is needed is for you to copy+paste it to the front page.
 
I dont know if this has been suggested yet, but how about a targeting and battling system similar to Final Fantasy 12. I didnt like it in ff12, but i think that it would be amazing in a pokemon game. The gambit system could be used, where moves were predetermined by certain criteria, ie. when below 25% health auto-recover. Look it up if you're interested.

I think it's a great push in the right diresction. We'll have to actually come up with an accuracy formula, but for right now I'm very pleased with it. I guess that wasn't that much of a long-term job, was it? =P

Blaziken doesnt have any fire moves, thats the only thing I see wrong with your sets.

And for the Champion... should I do the Pokemon he has when you face him in R/B/Y, or just make them up?
 
I would say try and make the typing the same, but keep anything that ws a staple of his team that you can think of (ie. Blaine's Magmar). That's the rule of thumb we're going with.

And changed the Blaziken moveset.
 
of course, we don't know what could be considered competitive yet, but those movesets seem too competitively viable. throw a lol move on most pokemon imo
