This is my first team I have made for the OU ladder. Before you guys rip to shreds I have a few unorthodox teams rules.
At a Glance
Machamp (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP/160 Atk/98 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Fire Punch/Encore
- Substitute
- Payback
- Dynamicpunch
The tried and true anti-lead lead that is Machamp. He provides my team with a strong start with its amazing Attack stat and its always nice to have a STAB that never misses. I've never been very good at using encore at the right to so using HP Ghost is a great way to just spit in the face of those cocky ghost/physic pokemon who would hurt my poor Machamp.
EDIT: While sleep talk would work well this pokemon I think having encore + sub would make a much better starter. I'm going to start using encore more so I get the hang of it.

Ninetales (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/6 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Fire Blast
- Hypnosis
- Will-o-wisp
Its silver and I needed something that could hurt grass. Im joking of course. While those were reasons for my choice I am also a big fan of using UU pokemon in OU if they beneifit your team. With Engery Ball Ninetales became much more versatile than in Gen 3 and it also provides a way to take out potential threats with hypnosis.
---
Rhyperior (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 244 HP/184 Def/82 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Rest
- Stone Edge
- Sleep Talk
This bad johny just demolishes everything in its path. This combined with rest and sleep talk gives him the ability to counter many things that could otherwise sweep my team.
---
Magnezone @ Life Orb
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 88 HP/88 Atk/86 Spd/248 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flash Cannon
- Explosion
A basic Magnezone. HP Ice serves the same role as HP ghost on Machamp. As the title says if all else fails KABOOM goes the Magnezone.
---
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EV: 252 HP / 66 Atk / 176 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
-Drill Peck
-Roost
-Stealth Rock
-Whirlwind
Silver and awesome. This guy will be much better than Steelix on my team as it hits fighting pokemon hard and also takes groud based attacks much better than its predecessor.
---
/
Starmie @ Choice Scarf
Natural Cure
Modest
80 HP / 252SpAtk / 176 Spe
Hydro Pump
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Psychic
In Soul Silver I will obviously will not be using Starmie (as its not silver) but I am not so suicidal as to use a staryu in competitve battles. This a basic Starmie sweeper which proves to be an amazing sweeper as well. If anyone knows ANY way Staryu is better than Starmie let me know.
EDIT: I followed Calum's advice but Machamp is enough to take out most Blissey's I've seen and without Psychic I have a clear weakness in my team.
---
- All pokemon must be from gen 1 or 2 or evolutions of those pokemon.
- No legendaries, even if they are not uber.
- All pokemon must be the same color as the version I am currently or will soon be playing. (silver for soul silver)
