If you thought SD Lucario was bad, wait until you see this.

After doing some damage calculations, I realized that Swords Dance Heracross has the potential to be one of the most feared Pokemon ever. (Well, not really, but it is strong) The only problem, was that lackluster 85 Base Speed. To fix that problem, I made a team that would dish out paralysis and remove possible Hera counters. This would end with Heracross coming in on a Pokemon that will run (e.g. Blissey), SDing on the switch, and continuing to rip teams apart.

Note: 2 Pokemon I did use from Obi's "We are the Machampions", only because they are so cool :P

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/8 Atk/216 Def/32 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Zen Headbutt
- Wish
- Body Slam
- Stealth Rock

This is Obi's leading Jirachi. It works amazingly as a lead, paralyzing foes with Body Slam, setting up Stealth Rock, Wish-passing, and even flinch-haxing some pokemon. Sometimes, Jirachi will actually sweep teams by itself. SR is essential to the Hera sweep because it ruins random Focus Sashes.

Gyarados @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 72 HP/252 Atk/184 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Ice Fang

BandDos. Everyone always assumes BulkyDos, so when they switch to Gengar (Which happens a lot) to outspeed me after a DD, instead they are OHKO'd by a monstrous STAB waterfall running off of 574 Attack. Waterfall does about 36.23% - 42.51% to Max HP/Def Skarmory. If Skarmory is paralyzed then it's chances of roosting aren't to good thanks to Waterfalls flinch rate. This also does 74.01% - 87.01% to Max HP/Def Gliscor, which is one of Heracross' only counters. Unresisted attacking coverage is beautiful for this beast.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/48 SAtk/208 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
- Earth Power

Restalk Tran. Works like a charm, burns physical attackers that come in with Lava Plume, and Earth Power is just a nice attack in general. Counters HP Ground-less Yanmega, as well as some HP ground ones. Rapid Spin Starmie fails to 2HKO with Surf. Great counter to Weezing who can also stand up to Heracross. Also does well against Jirachi and Celebi who cause some problems to the rest of the team.

dpmfa143.png

Snorlax @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk/252 SDef
Adamant (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Sleep Talk
- Pursuit

Went over RestTalking Lax because it suits the team better. Catches those Starmies and Gengars with Pursuit. Another Sleep Absorber.

dpmfa251.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/32 Spd/4 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Grass Knot

Another Obi Pokemon. Fills up a lot of holes on the team, such as countering Gyarados, Swamperts and Bulky Waters in general. Thunder Wave throws out some more paralysis. HP Ice does loads of damage to the Dragons.

dpmfa214.png

Heracross @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 104 HP/252 Atk/152 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Megahorn

The Main part of the team. Cleans up the opponents team what they are weak. SD on a switch, and wreck havoc.

Just incase you are underestimating the power of this monster, here are some damage calculations (After an SD of course):

Close Combat vs Max HP/Def Skarmory: 107.49% - 126.35% OHKO

Close Combat vs Max HP/Def Hippowdon: 96.43% - 113.57% Almost always a OHKO

Facade vs 212 HP/180 Def Gyarados(After Intimidate): 84.11% - 98.96% OHKO with SR down

Megahorn vs Max HP/Def Cresselia: 180.63% - 212.39% OucHKO

Close Combat vs Max HP/Def Blissey: 319.19% - 375.63% ..... I think it might be a OHKO.

Facade vs Max HP/Def Gliscor: 86.44% - 101.69% Pretty much a OHKO with SR down.

This team has done very well on Shoddy, and I hope it gets even better.

Thank you in advance.

Wouldn't Burn Orb be better than Life Orb? You only lose 2% more HP each turn in exchange for 20% more power.

The only problem I see with this team is that it relies on status. I generally use a team that leans on Thunderwave and such, but Aromatherapists, i.e. Blissey, ruin all of your hardwork in one turn.

The difference between this and SD lucario is that lucario has access to two priority moves to make up for its lackluster speed.

Ironically, you have a weakness to SD lucario ._.

The majority of the team do have physical attacks though.

The few Blissey I have run into usually lose to Gyarados. The AromaBlissey I faced lose to Flinch-Haxing of Jirachi. But, they are a problem if she comes in on something like Heatran or Celebi.

I agree with this, because not only does it give you extra power, but it protects you from status like paralysis which would halt your sweep.

I wholeheartedly agree, SD heracross is a forgotten threat. Though the lack of a priority move sucks, it hits much harder than Lucario.

Here's an interesting fact; Gliscor's Ice Fang (which seems to have replaced AA on most sets) does less than 25% damage to Heracross... which means you could set up on it easily, maybe even Sub-salac.

Yeah I'd so much rather slap a Hippowdon or Steelix or Swampert or Gliscor, probably Gliscors, yeah Gliscor is good, cause you are going to get raped up the ass by the ever simple concepts of Metagross and Tyranitar. Hell, they won't even have to switch out if they're running Agility and Dragon Dance. Plus, Gliscor will stop Lucarios, and even more so ironicly, that ridiculous Heracross weakness you have. The spot anything any of these go would probably be in the first slot...

You could try my Heracross set, which is Swords Dance/Close Combat/Megahorn/Facade @ Toxic Orb, which is what you pretty much have now, but Facade OHKOs Gliscor with Stealth Rocks while still OHKOing Gyarados. Something you might want to consider.

I like the idea, but one question: When was SD forgotten? I use it all the time, and I've seen it on many WiFi teams. Maybe its because Choice Scarf/Band are hard to get in the game, while easy to get on Shoddy.

What about Close Combat+Facade+Night Slash? Nothing resists the set, but now you can hit ghosts harder with Night Slash. You have nothing that can handle SubPunching Dusknoir, that is the only reason I ask.

I suggest Megahorn because Cresselia and Celebi are not OHKO'd by Facade in my experience, and Megahorn still does respectable damage to the lesser-seen Dusknoir.

I'll have to do a few more calculations before I change anything on Cross.

Gliscor would be good for the team, but then I lose the great paralysis that Jirachi gives off. I also lose Wish support.

One thing you might want to look at is using Lava Plume on Heatran. Your team is reliant on paralysis and that 30% might probably cause you some trouble when it burns something you would rather paralyze. If anything I'd probably go with Flamethrower in that slot.

The only sword dance heracross that works is this set (because with no move like ES it cant always go 1st)

Adamant
252 atk 252 speed 4 hp

Heracross @ salac berry
SWARM ability
substitute
sword dance
mega horn
close combat/ stone edge

SE so gliscor cant fully wall you, with swarm activated and salac berry in play this guy can sweep even without a sword dance.

give heracross Facade over Stone Edge. It has better accuracy, and does MORE power to gliscor and weezing than stone-edge. And it still OHKOs bulky Gyarados.
