iKinkajou's Team.

iKinkajou's NEW AND IMPROVED STALL TEAM. [OU]

Remember the good old days from R/S/E, where you had to face Norman after going through stuff like the Defense room, and the Critical room?

Now, the stall room.

Weaknesses and Resistances

The objective of my team is:
  1. Set up Stealth Rock;Toxic Spikes if possible
  2. Block and Kill Rapid Spinners, while Rapid Spinning myself
  3. And just demolish their team.

The Lead
Swampert%5B1%5D.jpg

Swampert@Leftovers
Moves:
  • SR
  • Ice Beam
  • Toxic
  • Earthquake
EVS:252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Nature: Relaxed

Why Swampert: Swampert is much more durable than a simple fang scorp. Toxic is for the "Surprise" factor. Ice beam hits Anti-Lead Dragonite, and Lead Roserade HARD. Although I didn't put taunt in there, I can still take a couple of sleep turns from a Spore attack. Stealth Rock.

How Swampert fares among other great leads:
dpiconani407.gif
-Expect Sleep Powder, and Taunt, Since I'm usually faster than her.
dpiconani235.gif
- Same as above, except substitute Sleep Powder for Spore.
dpiconani260.gif
-This guy is a BITCH. Taunt if I'm on drugs, usually I would switch into Tentacruel and begin to spike. If EQ, switch back. If the enemy is smart, he'll try to earthquake when I attempt to go back to Tentacruel. Using that turn, I use SR.
dpiconani142.gif
- Expect Taunt or Rock Slide. Taunt => Tentacruel. Rock Slide => SR.
dpiconani482.gif
- Expect taunt. Switch into Cruel, Knock off, Toxic Spike, and Rapid Spin his SR off.
dpiconani376.gif
- EQ. Then SR.
dpiconani385.gif
- Laugh at his feeble attempt of Statusing me, and Taunt and SR.
dpiconani142.gif
- Usually will taunt me first, so I switch to Tentacruel and Knock Off. He is bulky enough to handle one EQ. Switch back again because he is going to use EQ Again. SR and Continue.
dpiconani392.gif
- If Fake out lead: Flinch and Set up. EQ is a safer alternative.
dpiconani291.gif
Taunt, then Set up.
dpiconani485.gif
EQ while he taunts or SR.

metagross.jpg

Metagross@Leftovers
Moves:
  • Meteor Mash
  • Explosion
  • Earthquake
  • Hammer Arm
EVS: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Atk
Nature: Impish

Why Metagross: The Perfect Tyranitar and Rock counter. As long as it avoid earthquake, this guy can take lots of hits. Hammer Arm KILLS Tyranitar. Explosion is really good for suiciding, and Meteor Mash hits many types and works off from STAB. Earthquake is to hit everything else.

242blissey.jpg

Blissey@Leftovers
Moves:
  • Aromatherapy
  • Thunder Wave
  • Ice Beam
  • Softboiled
EVS: 252 Hp / 128 Sp. Def / 128 Def.
Nature: Bold

Why Blissey: Blissey is a great cleric, special wall, and a keeps a Gyarados in check, all in one! Thank fully it has two great pokemon to fall back on in case of a physical fighter: Dusknoir and Gliscor. Aromatherapy is to heal members, and Softboiled is for Solo recovery. Toxic hits Flying types and levitators that avoid toxic spikes. Toxic is practically a necessity for any stall teams. Thunderbolt can really destroy bulky waters, Gyarados, and Flying types.

heatran_fire.png

Heatran@Zoom Lens
Moves:
  • Magma Storm
  • Dragon Pulse
  • Earth Power
  • Explosion
EVS:128 HP / 212 SpA / 168 Spe
Modest Nature

Why Heatran: HeaTrap. Trap with Magma storm and deal with the trapped accordingly.

Tentacruel2.jpg

Tentacruel@Black Sludge
Moves:
  • Toxic Spikes
  • Knock Off
  • Surf
  • Rapid Spin
EVS: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Calm Nature

Why Tentacruel: My Rapid Spinner and Toxic Spiker. Surf for Stab, and Knock off to annoy. You do not know the hilarity when you Knock off Blissey's Leftovers, or a Heracross' Choice Band. Rapid Spin for obvious reasons.

Ohdear.jpg

Dusknoir@Leftovers
Moves:
  • Pain Split
  • Ice Punch
  • Thunder Punch
  • Will-O-Wisp
EVS:252 HP / 28 Atk / 228 Def
Impish Nature

Why Dusknoir: Dusknoir can block any fighting attacks aimed at Blissey, and can block Rapid Spin. Ice Punch and Thunder Punch for Perfect coverage, and Will-o-wisp is to rain on physical sweepers' parade. Pain Split is the best way of recovering damage.

So that is my team, Comments and Suggestions are heavily appreciated.

    |A little tricky, but T-Bolt and T-Punch can clip it's wings.
  • dpiconani482.gif
    | Azelf is the main thing that I may never beat without losing 2-4 pokes. Stalling is the best bet to use here.
  • dpiconani286.gif
    |Toxic Heal is SO annoying. Ice Punch, and Aromatherapy from Blissey to heal Spore sleep. Just got to avoid Focus Punches.
  • dpiconani437.gif
    | If heatproof, EQ. If levitate MAGMA STORM.

    | This one can be tough. Ice Punch can take it down though.

Notes:

1. This team has serious issues with salamence. Regular mixmence roughs you up pretty easily and ddmence is even more difficult.

The only over reaching quick fix I can think of is using some sort of special jirachi. If you use something like scarfed special jirachi it would solve your problems with being tricked, enable you to now trick things, and give u another poke to pass nasty plot to. The set would be weird though...something along the lines of trick/thunderbolt/hp ice/psy. tho you could go more conventional psy/thunderbolt/hp fire/trick. the only thing is I want u to be able to ohko mence after 1 dd.

2. Infernape is wasting a spot. I just personally don't understand that nape. It doesn't really benefit from passing nasty plot...and it does everything geng does...worse. So this is what I would take out for jirachi or tyranitar or w/e.

Salamence, after SR damage, usually dies at the hand of ape...Before he can get his Dancing on.

I'm Testing out a new team, currently.

On my way to work, but you have a focus sash on a togekiss when you have instant sandstorm. You have a spinner, but it doesn't matter, togekiss sash is still broken at the end of the turn by sandstorm, or ko'd if someone leaves it at 1hp

Black Sludge is Scarf trickers

just a nitpick, black sludge isnt that great for repelling trick users as it just gives them something else to trick on (unless of course they're poison type)

But it is personal preference.

You got 3 pokemon weak ground types then you got Hippowdon and Togekiss weak to Ice. Then Gengar comes in and is weak to Ghost/Dark. Your Team is weak to a choice Band/Scarf Flygon because of this possible set.

- Ice Punch
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- ???

But I suggest putting in Rotom-F instead of Gengar.

Hi. First of all, I'm going to suggest you drop Hippowdon and bring back Swampert to replace it - not only does Swampert do everything Hippo does but better on a team like this, but it doesn't have Sandstream, which your team is going to hate due to the amount of frail offensive pokemon it has. Use a standard MixPert with Ice Beam/Earthquake/Stealth Rock/Roar.

Now, I don't see any reason to use Tentacruel here. Sure, it gives you Toxic Spikes support, but is any of your team capable of putting that to use? Gengar, Infernape and Electivire are all too frail to stall with Toxic, Togekiss isn't well suited to doing it with that set, and Swampert can't stick around forever. What your team is desperately lacking at the moment is a steel type, which means you're going to get destroyed by dragons like Kingdra and Salamence. I'd suggest using a CB Scizor with Bullet Punch/U-turn/Superpower/Pursuit here, which will give you a reliable steel type, and a pokemon much more suited to the team than Tentacruel.

Gengar isn't using the best of sets at the moment. Psychic is really quite useless, as even if you use a Life Orb, it never OHKOs the most frail Machamp you'll find after Stealth Rock, and nobody's going to try to switch in a Machamp on Gengar. I'd recommend trying out Substitute/Pain Split/Shadow Ball/Focus Blast @ Life Orb, which is a more dangerous sweeper than what you have now - Expert Belt isn't very reliable, as Shadow Ball is more about neutral coverage than super effective -, a well as being able to protect its self from Tyranitar/Scizor, and use Pain Split to help beat stall teams, or simply to stick around for longer.

On Infernape, you're going to want to use Overheat over Flamethrower, which will let Infernape do the same things without a Nasty Plot boost that it could do with one when using Flamethrower. The SpA drop isn't really significant, as infernape will almost always be played as a hit and run pokemon here. You should also use U-turn or Mach Punch over Stone Edge, as ThunderPunch is really redundant - Stone Edge hits Gyarados, and water types take more damage from Close Combat. Mach Punch will let you deal with DD Babiri Tyranitar and Swords Dance/Agility Lucario, while U-turn is great for scouting your opponents move, and particularly for hitting Starmie, which is one of the most popular switches into Infernape. Again, you should be using Life Orb instead of Expert Belt.

I really don't think your Togekiss is going to be very useful here, and even if you manage to regularly pass NP (you should find that harder and harder as you climb up the ladder), your sweepers are far too easy to revenge kill, so it's simply not worth it IMO. What your team could use is a couple of slightly bulkier offensive pokemon that give you some decent resistances so that you're a bit more capable of switching around. Instead of Togekiss, I'd try out a mixed Salamence with Draco Meteor/Fire Blast/Brick Break/Roost, with which you should easily be able to break through defensive teams when combined with Infernape and Gengar (using the sets I suggested), and I think you'll find Mence works alot better against offensive teams than Togekiss does.

Finally, Electivire isn't very good in OU. Sure, it gets very good type coverage, but it's simply not powerful enough otherwise. I dont want to suggest any one pokemon to try and avoid changing your team beyond recognition, but there's a lot of pokemon that would fit in well, and importantly, you could do with one that's faster than base 115 speed so that you aren't wrecked by Starmie. A Jolteon would fulfil a similar role to Electivire, coming in on electric attacks and posing a threat, but it's a much more dangerous pokemon than Electivire. Using something like Thunderbolt/HP Grass/Shadow Ball/Baton Pass @ Choice Specs would work pretty well, and would notably help to cover your Gyarados weakness to an extent. Alternatively, a Choice Scarf Heatran with Fire Blast/Earth Power/Dragon Pulse/Explosion would also give you a fast pokemon to help revenge kill with, as well as being extremely dangerous offensively, and complementing your resistences nicely.

Good luck!

I'd say tab pretty much pegged everything that I was going to say. Swampert is basically a lot better than Hippowdon on this team. Your reasoning for taking out Swampert was that it's 4x weak to Grass. However, both Togekiss and Infernape can come in on pretty much anything using Grass Knot and destroy it. The utility and type coverage that Swampert provides is a lot better than Hippowdon's stalling abilities.

Tentacruel, like tab said, isn't a necessity either. Gengar and Infernape are both designed to sweep, not to stall, and both are too frail to even attempt to do the latter job. Toxic Spikes isn't worth it, nor is Tentacruel.

Again, as tab mentioned, Electivire isn't very good in OU. Motor Drive seems appealing at first, but Jolteon far outperforms it in higher levels of competitive play. He's fast, has decent coverage, and can sweep easily. I recommend either the Specs set or the Substitute set.

I'm not going to mention the movesets because tab pegged everything spot-on.

With that out of the way, you've got a core of Swampert, Infernape, Togekiss, Jolteon, and Gengar. Tyranitar can come in at this point and take out 3/5 of your team, while Infernape would be hard-pressed to come in on any of T-Tar's attacks. The Scizor that tab suggested would not only eliminate this weakness, but would give a reliable answer to one of the most popular users of Grass Knot: Celebi. Scizor rounds out your type coverage too, and fits with the aggressive theme of your team.

Hope I helped. Listen to tab's advice; he clearly knows what he's doing. ;)

Give Hippowdon an Impish nature to improve its defense. Relaxed reduces its speed and doesn't give it any benefit since it isn't using Special attacks.
Impish will give Hippowdon a bit of extra speed without compromising its attack or defenses. Sure, it's too slow to really make use of it, but it can't hurt.

Sludge Bomb on Tentacruel could be replaced by Knock Off or Hidden Power (Electric). At the moment all it's really doing is hitting Celebi super-effectively, which Gengar and Togekiss can do.

Give Infernape U-Turn over Thunder Punch. It's a better utility move that helps to keep up the team's momentum. Gyarados is the only Pokemon Thunder Punch is any good against (and even then, a non-STABed Thunder Punch is only a 2HKO after Intimidate, so Gyarados can just set up a Dragon Dance or OHKO with Waterfall.) If your team has that much trouble with bulky waters, a MixNape with Grass Knot deals with waters better than Thunder Punch, anyway.

Hope these few tips help.

With just a quick read through this really stood out to me:

Blissey@Leftovers
Moves:
Aromatherapy
Toxic
Thunderbolt
Softboiled

I would probably put in T-Wave instead of Toxic here, since a lot of the pokes that aren't going to be hit by toxic spikes that you NEED status on will suffer more from parahax then poison. Just a thought tho. (ex: Salamence, Metagross, Gengar, etc)
