Choice Scarf (Meowscarada) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flower Trick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Triple Axel
[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Scarf Meowscarada serves as the fastest viable Choice Scarf user in the format, able to revenge kill Pokemon like Dragon Dance Dragonite, Scale Shot Garchomp, and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. Flower Trick is very useful against Iron Defense Zamazenta as well as Landorus-T attempting to weaken it Meowscarada with Intimidate. Knock Off's fast item removal can support Meowscarada's team by removing crucial items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers from Pokemon like Kyurem, Hatterene, and Moltres. U-turn allows Meowscarada to pivot out of bad matchups like Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Moltres, and Triple Axel covers Flying- and Dragon-type Pokemon like Zapdos, Dragonite, and Raging Bolt that aren't threatened by Meowscarada's main attacking options. Protean lets squeeze out extra power from Triple Axel and U-turn via STAB, notably allowing Triple Axel to secure KOs on threats like Mega Latios and Raging Bolt after slight chip damage.
Balance and bulky offense teams appreciate its Meowscarada's ability to threaten common methods of speed control. Choice Scarf Meowscarada fits best on teams that appreciate its unmatched level of speed control, as it can handle faster Pokemon for its teammates, such as Tornadus-T and opposing Choice Scarf users like Landorus-T and Urshifu-R. Because of Meowscarada's ability to force switches and remove Heavy-Duty Boots, entry hazards are greatly appreciated; Pokemon that can set them up reliably include Ting-Lu, Iron Treads, and Gliscor. Their ability to set hazards up multiple times in a game works well with Meowscarada's Knock Off pressure, allowing for sustained chip damage. Because it tends to pivot with U-turn, Pokemon that remove entry hazards are also appreciated, such as Terapagos, Great Tusk, and Gliscor. In return, Meowscarada can use its Speed to revenge kill for its slower teammates, taking out threats to the aforementioned partner like Urshifu-R, Hisuian Samurott, and Ogerpon-W. Meowscarada is unable to break defensive Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Moltres, and Corviknight; thus, strong wallbreakers like Raging Bolt, Zamazenta, and Urshifu-R make for good partners. In return, Meowscarada can remove or threaten faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Tapu Lele and boosted Dragonite, giving its teammates more opportunities to wallbreak. Because Meowscarada is commonly forced out by Fire- and Flying-type foes such as Moltres, Mega Charizard Y, and Corviknight, partners that can switch into them like Raging Bolt, Alomomola, and Gholdengo are appreciated. In return, Meowscarada can threaten the Ground- and Grass-type Pokemon that commonly target these teammates, such as Garchomp, Gliscor, and Rillaboom, using its Speed and the threat of Triple Axel to force them out.
