General Introduce yourself!

Well Hi! I'm Hydra Sonata and I'm trying to re-enter the competitive battling scene! I was pretty okay in the 4th generation, but took a break after getting accepted into college. At the moment, I play both OU and Balance Hackmons. I would really love getting involved in lower tiers such as NU and RU. My goal isn't really to get to the top of the ladder, but be a legitimate threat. I thought the best way to do that is most definitely go to Smogon. I'm here now!

Hey Hydra Sonata, welcome (back?). Have you been on Smogon before, or is this literally your first time? Glad to see you returned back to playing Pokémon. Pokémon for ever! If you have any questions about NU and RU, feel free to ask me. I'm really into NU, RU and UU. In fact, they're my favorite tiers!

If you have any other questions regarding Pokemon or Smogon, feel free to PM me, chester0334, QueBien or TheHoodedGamer about them!

Hey man welcome back! If you're into BH you might wanna check out the thread to see what's going on in the current meta, you could also check out the om forums in general to see if some other metas interest you. You could also check out the om room for some bh discussions or general teambuilding help and what not. It's generally fun to be in the rooms of the metas you play as you can learn a lot from the discussions going on there and ask questions about any problems you may have, so if you wanna get into NU or RU you could hang out in their respective rooms in Pokemon Showdown! You'd probably enjoy hanging out in the OU room too if you play the tier a lot, participating in specific discussions is a fun experience you don't often find in public rooms like tours or lobby hehe.

Anyway if you're on PS you'll probs enjoy hanging out in these rooms, you'll pretty much always find me in Other Metas so feel free to hit me up if you have any questions and I'll try to point you in the right direction. Also pardon my shitty pun over there.

Thank you guys for some pointers! I frequented the main site for competitive Pokemon help. I did have an account YEARS ago, but I rarely used it. I'll look around and definitely ask for help when I need to! :)

Greetings Smogon, I am 3RROR404. I thought it was time for me to have some activity on my account. I have been playing pokemon for about a year. I only started to play competitive in May of this year. I play Doubles OU and casually play some of the singles tiers. I enjoy playing and learning; I hope to amass enough knowledge to teach Pokemon to others.

Aside from Pokemon, I am a college student majoring in Music and interdisciplinary stufies for History and English. I casually play ches, and I enjoy reading and writing.

Hi, I'm Captain Garchomp, and like most of you, I'm new to this forum. However, I'm not entirely new to competitive battling. I already EV trained in Emerald, played on simulators in Gen 4, making it to lower parts of the ladders twice. In Gen 5, I quit the competitive scene, but in Gen 6, I already did quite some online 6 vs. 6 OU battles on my 3DS, using XY and ORAS. And now, I'm trying to make a comeback in competitive battling on simulators. I just had my first serious online battle. Not very good, but still nice to win my first Gen 6 competitive match.

My username is derived from, of course, my favourite Pokemon Garchomp, but also from a Bon Jovi song, "Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars".

Fun fact I also play chess. A fun combo you should try out in double battles is a lickilicky and meowstic combo. Meowstic can swagged the lickilicky and it wont get confused because of his ability. Free plus two with prankster to add to that. Lickiclicky also has knock off so you can pull of some fun combos with that. I have been playing pokemon for a very long time. If were talking about competitive battling I only played for 2 years and I strive to always improve and help out others. Welcome to smogon and I hope you can expand on your battling knowledge which is what your goal is probably.

My first pokemon game was both emerald and diamond. Got them both at the same time from a friend. Didn't know a thing about competitive just played the game for the heck of it. I got into competitive two years ago and have improved a lot. These improvements also have given me access to other privileges outside of this site that I wont go much detail into. I can play in the OU game but I prefer to play in the RU tier. Hope you can use the site to help make a comeback.

If any of you guys need something feel free to message or pm me. You can also pm Fluke, TheHoodedGamer, or QueBien.

chester0334 If we are talking gimmicks, what you said above is not the best strategy. When I was not playing seriously, I ran Swagger and Safeguard. You safeguard first with the cat as Mega Kang uses Fake Out. Then you swagger Kang and sweep unprepared teams. I won't use this... At least for now, but Transform Mew and Belly Drum Azumarill are annoying to deal with. Right now, I am enjoying using rain.

Lickilicky has an ability that prevents it from getting confused own tempo buddy. If you wanna talk about this PM me. Also Mega Kang is ubers buddy.

That may also help to.

Nice! Then how did you get into competitive battling?

For me, my first games were Colosseum and Crystal, and before that, I was already a giant anime fan. But when playing Emerald and looking at some Pokemon sites, I found out about EV training and decided to give it a try and raise some Pokemon. Then, after going through Pearl, I decided to seriously give competitive battling a try.

I thought my team was crappy, but it's actually doing well so far: eight wins, two losses. It has:
- Scarf FlinchHax Jirachi
- Utility Celebi
- Nasty Plot Togekiss
- Swords Dance Mega Absol
- CroCune
- Scarf Garchomp

I thought that Jirachi set (Trick, Iron Head, U-Turn, Stealth Rock) was outdated now, an old Gen 4 set, but it still works very well.

Hi! Im Little Cup Masteh, but u can just call me Firey. My favorite Pokémon is Bisharp, my favorite move is Steel Wing, my favorite type is Steel, and my favorite item is the X-Transciever (B2W2). I spend most of my time participating in the Little Cup Tier, and I upload plenty of replays as well.

-Firey, Master of Water

That's quite the love for steel types you got there heh. Steel's actually one of my favourites as well, it has the most number of cool looking mons in the entire series imo. I can never decide on an absolute favourite anything so, it's always fun to see someone who does. I assume you play LC in PS! so, if you haven't already you should check out the LC room. It's always nice to be in a room where you can take part in the discussion currently going on, so i think you'd have a great time there. You can always hit me up with any PS related questions and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction.

As for the forums, you could check out the LC forums for all your LC needs! Seriously though, from viability rankings to LC oms you can have it all. If you want to get knowledgable on the tier, that's where you should start. After enough lurking you'll find you're making better teams and having an easier time doing so. But, before you start posting you should definitely check out the forum rules and regulations and global rules so that you'll know what not to do.

Hope you have a great time. Welcome to the community!

Hello Smogon. c: Teresa, 22.

I've been playing pokemon since the release of red/blue in Australasia and never once been bored with it. More recently I have become interested in competitive battling, I have a solid understanding of IV's/EVs etc and have been breeding competitive level pokemon since gen IV but never bothered to take it further (because I come from a land down under... something something, vegemite sandwich). Joined Smogon to start rubbing shoulders with people who won't give me 'that look' when I start talking about pokemon. |:

I really like espeon, like overly a lot. It all started with one ill-thought-out paragraph in Prima's Unofficial Guide to Pokemon Gold and Silver, which I still own and has been taped and re-taped back together multiple times. And I really like dragonite. And scizor. And skarmory. And venusaur. And gengar. And typhlosion. And empoleon. I really like all pokemon which is why I struggle so much to ever really decide on a team. Steel is probably my favourite type overall though. I'd really like to make a sandstorm team one day.

Irl I am a psychology student and crazy cat lady. Talk to me about my cats. B)

I was thinking after battling 3RROR404 about a few things. He was a pretty decent opponent even though he said he struggled he showed me something great. I thought of something to and that was the best way to help out people like you that wanna improve on their battling techniques well is to sit my ass down for an afternoon and help create teams with you on pokemon showdown. I understand that their is a tutor program here however spots seem to fill up right away and it's not always there.

Either ways to get back on point my first game was diamond and emerald. Yeah I got them both at the same time and they were both great games in fact my favorite generation is easily generation 4. Dragonite is probably a favorite as well for me. Slap a choice band on that thing and you can plow through so much. I can help you get better in competitive battling. I may not be a certified tutor but I know enough to help out. If you really wanna get things going we can spend an afternoon improving your techniques over showdown. Let me know by PM if your interested. Also these people can help out to Fluke, QueBien, and TheHoodedGamer.

Hope you enjoy your time around smogon:).

Your username is adorable c: Welcome New Zealander... although Australia is way better just so you know.

So you like basically every Pokemon ever destined to be a Mega. That's useful... except I don't think Espeon is ever going to. Do you like Pokemon Rumble? Your post makes me think you're a Rumble kinda person. But if you're a Shuffle lover that's ok too. If you like neither just ignore this segment and try both and fall in love with the games. Moving on...

Tell me about your cats??? If you need help fitting in on Smogon in particular there's a help form linked in this forum that you can try out. Otherwise..... welcome!

Hey there everyone! I decided to join Smogon a while back, but never got the time to actually join, haha, so I guess I'm here now!
I got into competitive battling a while back (Somewhere around a year ago, or something like that, haha), and 'tis is the reason that I'd like to talk to people and get tons of help for future competitive teams!
My favorite Pokemon's Leavanny and Mightyena, but sadly, they aren't the best due to typing and stats, but that doesn't stop me from using them!~ My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Sapphire, in 2004, and with a bit of peer pressure from kids at school, I began to love Pokemon, and I don't think that love has left me yet.
So yea, that's enough about me, so I look forward to some battles with you all!~

Welcome to Smogon! I just have some questions to ask, if you don't mind. What's your favorite tier? I like OU and am trying to get involved with UU. I have the same feeling that you have about Leavanny and Mightyena. They're cool, but not that good competitively :( (Well Leavanny is good as a Sticky Web setter I think lol). My first Pokemon game was also from Gen III (it was Ruby). What was your favorite part about it? It might not matter on the competitive side, but I'm interested! Nice to meet you, and I'd gladly battle you whenever you felt like it (I suck at battling though lol [imo]). Again, welcome!

sorry if this was a terrible greet, it's my first time :(

Hey, no problem 'bout the greet, it was fine!~
My favorite tier is currently either UU or Anything Goes, but I really can't beat a team with 6 Multitype Arceus's, can I? Hmm, my favorite part about Gen III itself would have to be the Battle Frontier in general. I know it was emerald, but still, I spent ages in there. For story wise, I'd like to say facing Norman was the best thing could happen to a young trainer.

Hey dude welcome to smogon. It seems a lot of people wanna improve on there battling skills. If you want PM me if you truly want and I can help. I may not be a certified tutor but I can try to give the best advice I can. My only advice though to get better is to battle a lot. It helps you familiarize yourself with the tier you are currently playing in. If you truly want I can also try to spend a few hours with you on showdown helping you create a team or give you a few battle tips.

Pokemon sapphire was a great game. I liked emerald a lot as a little kid and man small things like the cloning glitch blew me away. I was really excited to hear that nintendo made omega ruby and alpha sapphire. The remakes are great as well. Unfortunately pokemon X and Y prevent me from having gen 6 as my favorite pokemon generation. My favorite generation has to be generation 4.

PM me if you need help or just wanna talk. You can also talk to the following people Fluke, QueBien, TheHoodedGamer. Enjoy smogon.

Hey dude and welcome to smogon! I know this is your third greet lol, but I have a recommendation to make--why don't you try out PU? Leavanny and Mightyena are both legal and pretty good in that tier, and it is my belief that using your favourite Pokemon is a great way to ease into the competitive battling scene, as it makes battling more fun and in my opinion it is easier to learn if you are having fun :) Good luck with your battles, and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Ah, Sapphire was my first main series game too. I started with Treecko and am pretty sure I actually got destroyed in the 3rd Gym the first couple of times I tried because, well, Treecko sucks for that Gym lmao. And I will agree that the Battle Frontier in Emerald was absolutely amazing. I'd spend hours with the Battle Tower and Battle Dome specifically.

As far as here on Smogon goes, you might be interested in checking this out if you're looking to get started in UU. It's the UnderUsed tier forum on Smogon and it has plenty of useful threads, specifically the Viability Rankings thread which gives you an idea of the best Pokemon to use in the tier. This is a list of every usage-based Pokemon in the UU tier accompanied by their on-site analyses. However, do note that some Pokemon in RU, Cobalion and Meloetta in particular, fare quite well in UU. These two specific links will take you to their UU analyses that are on-site.

Also, if you want, we can build the team together, no problem!
Welcome anyway teresa. Lucario is the best steel pokemon ever

Welcome Trambo Trell!
Nice to meet you! I also play Balanced Hackmons, as it is one of my favorite tiers, but I usually play OU, 1v1, or Random Battles. I do love to visit the Other Metas room, though. I never really liked Classic Hackmons, as I just don't find such a tier filled with Wonder Guard and Huge Power fun. Balanced Hackmons is better in my opinion as there's more diversity. Have you visited the OM room? There are a lot of great people there that make Showdown a fun place to be in. Join in on the OM chats in the forums if you'd like to get involved, and talk to some of the main users there to find out how you can help. If you need any questions answered, check out the Questions threads, the Help form, or PM someone such as me, chester0334, Fluke, or TheHoodedGamer. I hope you enjoy your time here!

Yes ,I am here for almost 3 years now actually, but new on smogon. I am almsot always present in OM Room on different alts :)

Hi, I'm Gally

I've been playing Pokemon since RSE (before I just watched my friends playing GSC hahaha), competitive since DPPT, but I've stopped for a bit now, since my 3ds has got some issues. As soon as I fix it (or get another one), I'll be back to bussiness o/. I'm just playing Random battles here for fun in my spare time, but i'll be back to competitive soon.
