Hi, I'm Ceri! I used to be the primary breeder for a Pokemon-related Skype group from the start of XY days up until the release of ORAS where practically everyone stopped playing or disappeared. My interest completely waned with them and I hadn't even touched my OR copy until recently, a year later. Something clicked and a fire got relit, and I guess the rest is history!
Sapphire was my first game, and Diamond was the first time I got to delve into the competitive side of things. Viability be damned, I tried making an Eeveelution team and watched in horror as a Breloom took me on a ride on the dunk train for their debut battle. Fast forward to today, I spend a lot more time brainstorming and tossing team ideas rather than battling because I never seem to have an idea I like enough to commit to and try. Mega Lopunny, Diancie, Gardevoir and Altaria all seem great and I want to have great teams built around each of them, the end goal being building and raising them in-game to take to Wi-Fi. Multi Battles are my favorite type, and it's disappointing to not see many resources for it or people that enjoy playing it too.
Ultimately just looking to enjoy myself, make some friends, have teams I can finally be happy with!

What's up Ceri, welcome to the Smogon community ! I always liked Sapphire because of how cool Kyogre looked and I also started competitive battling in 4th Gen. If you're looking to brush up on you competitive skills, the Battling 101 sub-forum is the place to go, where you can sign up for the Apprentice Program, in which you will get a tutor in your tier of choice. Be sure to check the Battling 101 Schedule to see when sign-ups are. Keep an eye out for the 2016 schedule so you can signup as soon as the Round gets posted. Hey, folks. New user here.
I'm a senior physics student from Mexico. I've been playing Pokemon since the good old RBY years and got into competitive battling when DP came around with Wi-Fi battles allowing me to battle people besides my older brother. I went away from Pokemon during BW being distracted by school and stuff. However I recently thought that it would be nice to get back to the game, gave Showdown a try two weeks ago, and here I am. I'm still familiarizing myself with the new OU, and battle using mostly sample teams from threads in the 'Competitive Discussion' subforum to both learn the meta and, hopefully, hone my in-battle decision-making skills.
I joined because I thought I could improve faster in the game by interacting with the community and to maybe find some like-minded people to discuss and playtest teams and ideas out. Feel free to pm if you want to bounce off any ORAS OU ideas or playtest and discuss. I'm currently looking at in-site resources to build a stall team and learn to pilot it for ladder success.
Hey, Ceri. Maybe you have already done it, but have you gone through the links in the 'Guide to the ORAS OU metagame'? I am finding them helpful to get a grasp of the tier and work team ideas. I particularly recommend the 'Oras Good Cores' thread, since they provide a direction for teambuilding which you can then fine-tune theorizing a little and play-testing in the ladder. If you want discussion for Multi Battle in particular, you could try the Doubles OU subforum for similar resources. Again, I apologize if I'm just telling you stuff you already know.

I may be a little rusty but have some experience with competitive battling, so feel free to PM me if you think you need help, want to discuss something, or want to play against someone and get post-battle feedback. I obviously recommend you take a look at the many resources the site has to offer to get you battling right away.
You also got me curious, so I'll bite the hook: could we see a drawing? To my understading, artists seem always welcome in Smogon.

Hey Whalen, welcome! I like your story. Did that happen recently? And why did you move from China all the way to the USA? I can't imagine a life without Pokémon, and you just got into it! Which game(s) are you playing? I would like to teach you the basics, if you would be open to that of course. I know it can be hard to get into it, especially when you barely know anything about it. But don't worry, Pokémon is really fun which makes it easy to learn. If you don't understand me because of the language barrier, just let me know and I'll try to explain in more 'simple' English.
For now, a helpful place would be the Smogon Simple Questions thread if you have questions regarding the forum. If you need help with anything else, just shoot me a PM and I'll gladly answer your questions. Or you can also talk to Chesty, Dr Ciel, Erai14, QueBien, InfernapeTropius11, or TheHoodedGamer. Hey, I'm Collusion. I used to play a lot on cartridge - now mostly Showdown. After screwing around a bit too much on Showdown I decided to settle down, get a real screenname, and make a Smogon Account. I play a lot in game and I ladder under alts occasionally reasonably high, like 1700ish, but I'm glad to finally make a Smogon!
Hey guys, it's Dark again. I'm trying to fill out my Pokedex in Omega Ruby while slowly breeding 4 and 5 IV pokemon to take to competitive with me since the latest online competition is coming next month. ('cuz we all want that Delibird).

Have you tried the Wi-Fi room in Showdown? There you can contact people informally and in real time, so it sounds it would be easier to get fast trades than using, say, the Wi-Fi forum, which I assume you already checked out. I'd add you but I unfortunately have no cartridge at the moment. Good luck.
Yeah, no rush. Play whenever you feel ready. My advice, though, would be not to let yourself worry too much about studying the game before playing it. Most people agree that the best way to learn the game is directly playing it.

What's up Giancapa, welcome to the site. Just like you, I've also been playing Pokémon since the beginning. I started with R/B/Y, what about you? Pokémon Gold is my all time favorite, followed by Pokémon Yellow.
It's weird, since you should be able to post in the Wi-Fi section. Can you try again? Maybe it had to do with your account activation/confirmation. Anyway, I can probably help you with the Manaphy, Meloetta and Genesect. I do need to get them back though, so I hope that's not a problem. Let me know!
Hey, Fluke. Thank you for answer! My started with Blue, and my little brother get Red. We always play one of the two versions, and I take the third one (like Yellow). I've went through Blue, Yellow, Silver, Crystal, Sapphire, Emerald, LeafGreen, Diamond, Platinum, SoulSilver, White, White 2, X and Alpha Sapphire and he played the rest :). I don't know if I've a favorite, I always like the lastest, so I could say I like a lot X (but because I really like the trainer customisation), but the in-game story I like the most is from Unova.
Oh well, I check again and I can now, maybe because I've to post here first, I don't know haha (I activate/confirmate my account and that wasn't enough I think). Thank you :)
Oh, do you say send them to me and I send them back to you? If so, just Manaphy is needed, I already did that with another guy for Genesect and Meloetta.
I had a Manaphy once from my Pokémon Ranger but I transfered it to my old X game but I lost the game. I had to buy another copy and start again. So I'm looking for one because I want to have one, and the same for Genesect and Meloetta. But I would accept your offer if you want :)

Hello deetah, welcome to Smogon. I've also been playing Pokemon since I was around 5-6 years old. And I never stopped, hehe. What was your first Pokemon game? Mine was Yellow. I'm so glad Yellow was my first game, and not Red or Blue (or Green). Those sprites, my gosh they look so horrible.
Anyway, I see you're still learning your way around here. Are there any places in particular you're looking for? If yes, let me know and I can perhaps show you some places that are interesting to you. One useful place for every newcomer on these forums is the Smogon Simple Questions thread.
